Needless to say, this is the one we've all been waiting for.
Nah, that was him ripping Miro and Kip for an hour.
@@WorldTravelA320 I meant for this week.
Pocket vs kenny omega match would be good for AEW just because of pockets winning wrestler of yr in pro wrestling illustrated
Wouldn’t you know who won the pony?
Oh no. Let me know if its safe to listen lol Im scared for them lol
Bryan alcatraz (Alvarez) tried to make excuses for that ending. He said it wasn't a crash pad but boxes covered by steel I think. I was like dude it was a crash pad with cardboard steel lol.
Exactly
The same guy who jumps all over WWE for anything and everything defended that move. I don’t understand why people have to treat the promotions differently. Praise what they do right and bash what they do wrong.
It pissed me off more than anything. He actuary said is the standard supposed to be if you can't make it look good don't do it! Of course that's the fucking standard!
Alvarez is a f’n dork
Most have the readership/listenership have to be more AEW inclined these days, there’s no other explanation for some of the bull shit they justify.
This match was like being on drugs and watching a movie about space . The top of the cage ruined it completely😂. Jericho just fell into inflated pillows .Jim and Brian are spot on .
It made me feel bad for the actual guys that worked their asses off. Even Wardlow and Hager who are green af at least tried hard and Jericho at this point should just stop, maybe be a manager he cuts good promos but let other people wrestle.
Hager has been around for over a decade, the green excuse doesn’t work
@Max the Maltese dog, Yeah, like in NONE of the WarGames matches did the fans EVER SEE DUSTY & FLAIR ON TOP OF THE CAGE.
I gotta say, it's very soothing when Cornette says "Poof". Lol
One eye open, gripping his pillow tight.🤣🤣
Exit skills, enter bubbly.
Exit Light Cosplay
Hush little sami, don't say a word.
And never mind the bumps you've took.
@@DarkNorthEmperor it's just beast under your bed... in your closet... in your head...🤣😅
And his blade when he was on top of the cage too
Thank you Brian & Jim for getting this out early.
People weren’t going to be able to wait haha ruclips.net/p/PLXmvFg4yWDda-tQRZgUyv9BmGgDnDkn8s
12:31 - Guevara did the RVD Van-Terminator drop-kick on the chair. (Fixed it for ya, Jim)
E C dub! E C dub! E C dub!
Jim to top that match, they are gonna have an exploding ring death match with two rings, called a Electric War, Survivor Mania or something like that.
Wtf.
Just give us Christian Cage and Brian Cage vs Adam Page and Ethan Page in a Rage in a Cage match with special guest referee Diamond Dallas Page.
They are waiting for Paige to go to AEW.
Don't give them any ideas.
That sounds like something someone thought of during a massive acid trip so I wouldn't be surprised if we saw it
He went "poooof" LMFAO
😂😂
I have to correct Jim on that coast to coast dropkick, Shane got that from RVD.
Van Terminator
I laughed hard about the “ring explosion” I laughed even fucking harder at this. Thankfully I haven’t given AEW a single penny
Only a Corny listener could watch a commercial broadcast and proclaim they've not given AEW a penny...
Not sure you know how TV works 🤣
@@78bcat I mean it as I haven’t gotten any merch from them or tried going to any of the shows
@@callumpalmer3258 actually I do, I’m not sure you know how wrestling works, they have merch you can buy and tickets for shows and I haven’t spent any money on that stuff is what I was saying
@@MetalThrashingMan13 that's true.. although you're not giving money out your own pocket you are certainty contributing to their overall profits by watching the show. Most ads will pay by viewship rather than a fixed price.
Jericho was right when he said the match was gonna be remembered for a long time and he was right.
We now remember that it had a shit soft happy ending.
If you're going to do shit that looks lousy and fake, then don't do the shit.
Simple.
Same with the exploding ring. Even when done “right” it looks like shit. They’re obviously not going to fucking blow someone up so whatever happens is going to be a disappointment relative to the promised explosion.
Bu-b-but i gotta get my shit in. How else will i feel cool?
Agreed
Blood & (commercial) Breaks
Cardboard & Cushions
Those PIP breaks were annoying af...they shouldn't have had them...match was good except for ending...typical AEW🙄😒
I am no longer interested in watching this from my DVR anymore after finding out about a crash pad and people being caught on camera blading like bafoons!
21:03 this does need to be brought up. They really have to improve their production and have more clean cuts.
Imagine Mick Foley getting thrown off the cell and landing on an obvious air bag. Wcw would of won the war.
Imagine all the lives Vince could have saved.. or necks and backs and brains he could have saved.
WWE has killed so many wrestlers especially in that time period.... how many did wcw kill.... crickets
Mick retired at 34 and struggles to walk in his 50's was it really worth it?
@@DayFul no
Imagine all the wwe wrestlers complaining about it being dangerous when it was fairly controlled. Oh wait that happened. I would rather they be safe than land on one inch mats.
jericho hides his bald spot..starts sweating..now its on his fore head and nose....lolol
2 dislikes? Tony Kahn & Cody
Not Cody but Jericho
Jim asking when's the last time u saw heels in one ring and the faces in the other having a stare down once all men were in got me confused! I'm sure nxt have done this in at least 2 of them
That wasnt the problem. The end is the problem.
Did anyone else notice how they had Sammy completely isolated from the inner circle? The pinnacle threw him over to the inner circle, just so they could do a shitty standoff.
Of course its gonna be Stadium Stampede Part 2! :D
They did good at first, decent in the middle and completely ruined the ending.
Jim took the words right out of my mouth. Why didn't chris take the hip toss that cactus did and go through the desk.
Because he’s 50 years old & not an idiot
@@overit5893 do it right, or don't do it at all. The crash pad approach is fake as fuck.
@@supergluehotty there’s nothing wrong with him using a crash pad , it’s the fact they made it so damn obvious which for me was the problem.
I used crashpads professionally in my Batman biopics, about me Batman. Chris Irvine needs to go to my acting school. Owned by me, Batman. WHERE ARE THEY? That's just one of the many lines I will teach him..
"You shouldn't have blood in this day and age." It's Blood and Guts. What the fuck were these people expecting?
Vince McMahon showing Gronk how to fall on a crash pad was intriguing in that Vince is old and shouldn't be falling off anything onto anything. Jericho fights his nemesis, only to fall on some fluffy pillows ruined all the blood sweat and tears during the actual match. looked absurdly soft and safe and a-gain negated any bump taken earlier. well played AEW.
They should have had Tully produced the blood and guts due to him being in the first war games and booking experience of South west wresting.
dude its 2021
@@MrMarcodarko ok
Exactly I agree!
@@MrMarcodarko And your point is?

A nice way to close up a Saturday Night.
Pyro should have gone off when Jericho got tossed, kinda like a home run in baseball. Make it a little more exciting.
That makes it look planned as fuck dude

All Crash Pad Wrestling
" he just went pooof"
Bryan Alvarez defended the Jericho bump as being as real as it gets since he fell on cardboard boxes, which takes a lot of balls since it was not a crash pad. But he also shit on any elaborate bump that is not taken on a real crash pad as stupid. Verdict is still out on how that makes any sense. Luckily the billionaire's son sprung for cardboard boxes to keep his idiots safe instead of getting a real crash pad.
They need hire people like jim cornette and Kevin Sullivan to book there shows and tell them the truth on when something won't work.
Jim cornette dont work in 2021
Cornette I think refused a contract from AEW
In Tony Khan's defense he did try to hire Jim but as soon as he saw the Bucks being involved he said 'Nope'
@Lujack Shaw It's evident the AEW execs hear what Jim says based on their BTE sketches but they're dug in their heels.
They might as well had Jericovid fall on a giant whoopee cushion.
Chris I'm going to show you all how to take a bump tonight. Darby - hold my skateboard..
This might be a stupid idea but instead of the fake airbag spot, why not just have Tully and MJF drag Jericho outside the cage and unknown to every one else involved, they pull out a big chain or a rope and they tie it around Jericho's neck and then they threaten to hang him with it (maybe after a good chair shot to the head or a DDT on the floor or something) and then if they had to do some drama, they can surrender to hypothetically save a man's life. It puts over MJF and Tully on how far they were willing to go and the babyfaces don't look like schmucks for wanting their leader to not get hung. But in GayEw, logic is for people not in the company lol On a side note, great rant by Jim!
Been waiting all day for this LOL
how sad are you
I just took a closer look at the thumbnail for this one whilst scrolling. Nice detail on Jericho's sweater.
21:11 Is that The Sandman I hear approaching?
😂😂 We're off to never neverland
They went on another *BREAK*
Finally watched this match last night. Honestly I thought it wasn't as good as the recent Wargames matches but the weak finish with Sammy just being a pussy and then Jericho taking the safest bump of his career onto the cardboard metal below...yeah I gave them a second chance after 70 odd weeks of not watching, I'm good.
No one wants jericho to fall on concrete.
1. Make it look good or dont do it.
2. Announcers shouldn't call stages concrete if its really cardboard
3. 25 years ago nash powerbombed bischoff off the stage and it looked better than this. No way a 25 yea told spot should look better than this
If you surrendered the match, only for MJF to throw Jericho off anyway- wouldn't you climb up the cage to throw him off too...?
Inner circle surrendered just for one person faceplam but two members should climb up on top the cage and three members stayed on the ground just in case there is a fall from on top of the cage or 5 members should catch Jericho after MJF pushed him instead they surrendered quickly without thinking...this is logical and common sense in wrestling
Sammy is flying around now, but when he turns 45, he isn't going to be able to walk. Especially at the rate he's going.
RVD
@@MrMarcodarko rvd was safe. Guevara does dumb shit every week
The only question is whether he or Darby Allin will end up crippled first
@@MrMarcodarko RVD is a freak athlete and all that weird training he did made him able to do what he did for so long. And he was a lot bigger than Sammy and was not just being thrown around like a lawn dart this much.
wow reminds me of mick foley but he gets a pass nonetheless cause “Attitude era rules!”
I'm surprised nobody mentioned why the hell there was a Britt Baker squash match in this.
Blood & Guts was a cheesy generic version of WarGames. I feel bad for anyone who paid money to see that trash
Thankfully NXT knows how to do WarGames right
With no roof? 🤣🤣🤣
Shane o macs bump from wrestlemania absolutely shat on that fall
I think they could have isolated one of the Inner Circle guys for the finish, most likely Sammy, and beat the shit out of him with the other 4 guys made to watch whilst handcuffed to the ropes until Jericho, then broken, surrenders. The loss and being unable to protect Sammy would have set Jericho into a "depression" where he breaks up the group. Some kind of, "I don't deserve to be your leader if I can't protect you" sorta thing. Sammy and Hager go do some singles stuff, and Santana and Ortiz continue to tag team. But really almost anything else would have been better than what we got.
it def got boring there at the 'charge' and i was disappointed in the finish.
and yes when i saw the match i laughed my arse off especially when i saw the ending
Thing this is bad, for some reason watching on ITV in the UK it was edited in a way that important parts of the match were missing. MJF teleported onto the top of the cage. Maybe between the US and the UK it's always edited differently, which would make sense but if so this week it was noticeable to a ridiculous level. Key parts of the match just gone, people teleporting in and out of the ring.
This match should be the conclusion of the feud, but it is not... That's what angers me about this match.
Mjf's push probably hurt jericho more than the actual fall. Lol!
That's funny. 😂
Cornette is the Classic Smartass! Love this guy! I like how Jim RESPECTS the Wrestling Business. Old School Style! I do think Cornette needs to give AEW credit when they do something right instead of constantly berating the entire company.. It's going to be awhile before they smooth out all the screwups...
Stony mountain penitentiary is at Stony Mountain Manitoba it’s one of the biggest prisons in Manitoba
AEW's camera work is really bad. Even simple moves, they cut to one from an angle to where you see how it's done. WWE slips here and there, but not like this. Not only that, but do the wrestlers on AEW have to smile and look into the camera all the time? What is it with that? It irks the hell out of me.
I was waiting for this one LMFAOO
Me too broda😂
I liked the match but God damned if Corny ain't right about choking somebody with a BAT!!!
LOLz
Still more believable than the idiotic "gut shot" with one hand cupped over the end of the bat for maximum shock absorption and harmlessness...
Omega's booking is stupid.
You a world class wrestler as WC, you have a ppv every 6 to 8 weeks, a full roster and your World Champion doesnt have a single challenger who could put them in the main event.
Brillant
"People with one eye opened, gripping their pillow tight!" LMAO 21:00
I enjoyed it
There was a simple way to make this look at least half real. They could have kept the commentary out of saying it was concrete for a start, commentary doesn't have to get involved. Then just make the airbag much lower on the ramp and have him go straight through the platform. That way we don't see jericho after the bump because he's under the ground and it also disguises the airbag. Least woulda looked half real. Think it was more plywood boards rather than cardboard but again if the commentary doesn't get involved we can buy he's took a bump through the platform at least.
We were all looking forward to this.
Love Jim as the Terminator.
Jim: "How are they gonna top that?"
Stadium Stampede 2 and WWE Zombies peeking about to end this wrestling career
There's like 10 people I would want to see Omega face. Hangman Page, Jungle Boy, Pac, Orange Cassidy, Miro, Christian Cage, Lance Archer, Eddie Kingston, Cody(even though he's not supposed to challenge for the title), I could watch him and Rey Fenix wrestle every day and never get tired of it, Penta, Brian Cage, John Silver, Sammy Guevara etc etc etc. All those matches would be awesome. I think when you're both not fans of AEW and don't believe anyone should like it, it's probably kinda silly to try to assume what a fan of AEW who does like it would want to see.
I do agree with your opinions on this match for the most part though. I liked it overall, but the finish wasn't great both in concept or execution. I didn't like that it basically became a singles match between Jericho and MJF once they left the cage, and that Tully didn't lock the door after they got out to keep the rest in. Obviously the fall was filmed horribly wrong, and the comment about the stage being concrete was ridiculous even before I saw what it looked like. Why would they make a stage out of concrete? But, overall I would rate it a net positive experience and it doesn't make me not want to watch anymore because you're going to see great promos, great matches and see a wrestling promotion that actually has some energy and excitement and soul in it
It's nice to go back and listen again just to remind myself that AEW is in the exact same bullshit circus spot now as they were 3 years ago.
Vary hard for me to disagree with what corny said, as a AEW fan I thought the end was very anticlimactic and disappointing, I saw them talking to each other and I thought God dam guys the camara guy fucked up with the angle great match terrible ending
Camera production crew are former TNA guys. That says it all TNA.
After JC talked a bit about how to finish this...not sure if this works on all levels but:
Tully opens the cage door, MJF out and starts to go up, Jericho follows him but Tully slams the door on Jericho and he sort of half falls onto the edge of the ring, MJF sees this, comes back down pulls him completely down on the floor, Tully relocks the door and MJF takes the ring and begins to wail on Jericho who surrenders while his team has continued to beat up the Pinnacle in the ring. So you have inner circle actually "winning" in the ring but their leader surrenders trying to save his own skin.
And vince did take this bump to show gronk how to do a spot!! Lol
They should have cut to a pre-taped shot of an obvious dummy drop
The Dinner Circle is funny af 😂
Just like WCW they mess up a PPV with a bad ending. The problem is the camera showed it that's the big problem
@Dorian Arnold doesn't matter free if it was free or not it was terrible ending
Somewhere, mick foley was probably chuckling his ass off.
Like the moxley vs omega death match.......you threw away thier sacrifice.
Whatever you may think about omega and moxley thier last match was damn good until the ending.
Just like this one.
You can't do a safe ending in a match like this. You just cant. Don't do that spot or think of something else....MJF could have done the curt Henning ric cage smash on Jericho.
Have sammy or Santana and ortiz take that bump.....but Jericho had to be the hero.
This is the second time theve epically fucked themselves with a shitty ending to an otherwise good to great match and its getting to point this has to be a gimmick of theres because once is ok, twice is planned
Christian Cage vs Omega was teased...
I had an issue with the baby faces wearing black and heels wearing white.
This was a fair critique. Happy mostly with the first 9 people in the match...then turned to shit for very agreeable reasons once Jericho was in.
Shane o Mac coast to coast. No no no Mr cornette that is RVD's move (I forgot the original name)
I think that in Tony Khan's mind the only way to top that mattress bump finish will be for next time all 5 of a War Games team go off the top of the cage and land in perfect sitting positions on a large and carefully placed three piece suite hidden below the floor covering!
The problem with the air bag is people don't get it. Not those of us who said the crash pad made it look stupid thought he should of landed on steel. It was how phoney it looked. At least with the crazy stunts WWE did near the stage and stuff they hid the padding under wood and cardboard so it looked like it was boxes they used to transport stuff. If you insist on doing stuff make it look believable. Don't make it look like a joke
If having the heels win was the goal, they should have introduced a new member of the pinnacle. Some big monster guy who comes in and rips the cage door off and help make Jericho tap to MJF’s arm bar. Or have a traitor on the inner circle team.
The Rob Van Dam coast to coast surely?.... Or Van Terminator
The crash pad bean bag spot was fucking horrendous, I almost had to buy another tv
Forget the final 3 minutes of the show. AEW put on the most authentic War Games match we have seen since WCW went under. It was clunky at times but that is what happens when you put 10 people in the same match like this. This has Cody's fingerprints all over it considering War Games was his dad's creation.
😂🤣 good one
Lol
This has to be a Tony Khan burner account 😂
Eww, who knows where Cody's fingers have been
@@darrengordon-hill up his own arse to expel so of that fine aroma to inhale
They didn't have to show the bump. They could have had Sammy push off the cage, the inner circle goes and checks on Jericho and just ended it with Sammy standing on top of the cage with all the blood.
As for the filming problems. You have to have a very experienced person in the truck or people in the truck calling out camera shots becuase it's hard to follow all that chaos around.
It was a comedy show whenever both teams was standing on the opposite ends of the different rings and then when they went to collide they realize that they had to step through the ropes first because they were standing in separate rings
Made Rikishi's cage bump look amazing! This was poor.....
The only thing missing was as Jericho laid there, we hear: "TONY KHAN HAS BOOKED MJF vs. JERICHO NEXT WEEK FOLKS!!!"
''I didn't know they had prisons in Canada'' lol
they should’ve just had a gimmicked floor and had Tully set up a table or two to break Jericho’s fall, have MJF bark out the orders to tully and it makes the spot look more dangerous
Stoney mountain? Is that supposed to be a Smokey Mountain reference just because it sounds similar?
I'm gonna sound like a parrot here.
The Stadium Stampede match should have been here. That way, the breaks would have been tolerated. They could have saved the big throw for the PPV.
You could literally hear the beanbag sound effect when Jericho landed. They have gotta improve how they do these big finishes. Two massive clusters in a row on big stipulation main events. It's embarrassing.
Honestly, I would be surprised if it’s Omega v. PAC. I have a really bad feeling they are going with Omega v. Orange Cassidy. 😒 I really hope I’m wrong.
Jericho looked like he put in his two weeks notice but knew he wasn't going to show up anymore.
I remember seeing on RUclips, Vince McMahon showing Rob Gronkowski how to properly do a dive from a platform 10 feet high before, WM 36. He is 70+ years old and can do a better dive than Jericho at 50, which says a lot about how seriously they plan things at AEW.
Ed Wood is smiling from his grave
Needless to say this was the most embarrassing cage match in the history of wrestling. Absolutely shameful the amount of botches, the camera's showing them blading non stop, even Jericho and co showing the razors and blading each other. The even more cringe was the ending on the cardboard and crash mat. Once again AEWCWWETNA Lite exposes and destroys the legacy of wrestling. I mean my god you've Arn, Tully, Dustin and more who all did War Games and are veterans of it and this is the garbage they produce??
