    More information has surfaced about what the lost Primarch's crime was. In newly discovered lore, Malcador admits to Guillium that he alone was responsible for 'dealing' and then 'erasing' the two. For their crime threated everything, from the Great Crusade to what fundamentally the EoM was trying to do for humanity. But Malcador also confirms what many have suspected even then, Malcador was going to execute the remaining/surviving Astartes of the 2nd and 11th legions. But Guillium and Dorn successfully petitioned the EoM to spare them, for they committed no crime. Suggesting that the rumors about the sudden increase in size of the Ultramarines right before the Horus Heresy was because they did absorbed the remaining/surviving Astarts of the 2nd and 11th legions was true. But it also suggests so did the Imperial Fists, it was just the most apparent in the Ultramarines.

    I’ve been thinking about this a lot, and you’ve aligned information for me quite clearly.
    I’m quite convinced that one was afflicted by the Rangdan cerebvores, bodies becoming not their own, but their minds and voice may still have be loyal, which made the task of the Space Wolves putting them down utterly, and completely, a tragedy. Such a flaw could never risk being known.
    But when you said “innocent” in describing the other, something I never knew, it became clear to me, it was suicide.
    The far flung future is a grimdark place, suffering is at an almost insurmountable level within the imperium, yet suicide is a gaping hole, and I don’t mean suicide from failure, I mean suicide from depression, suicide from having an existential reckoning with the reality of the galaxy.
    Grimdark is a place where innocence can’t survive.
    Both of these are tragic deaths, turning from the emperor, but in ways you can never have any contempt for them.

      I think with recent revelations of Subject 11 being beneath the Imperial Palace, I want to say suicide is unlikely, but entirely possible. Perhaps his corpse being down there, suicide from the mutations, the abject horror he was experiencing as he traversed the galaxy.

    One interesting thing is that the other Primarchs cannot remember their names. Apparently, all of them have met them at least once, Horus surely spent a decent chunk of time with them and should remember who they are, yet their faces and names cannot be grasped. There's a psychic lock enforced on anyone who might leak their existence and it seems to be the case even after ten thousand years, and there's only person who can do that... the Emperor is STILL censoring the existence of the Lost Primarchs even as he sits rotting and dying on his death throne.
    Wonder what would happen when he dies, would people suddenly realize it is weird the II and the XI Legion don't exist? Would the still existing Primarchs suddenly remember them in full?

  • @BurningFyre

    Malcador's reply to Dorne, oddly enough, gives me the impression those two primarchs lost to redaction are in fact alive. The order to forget the possibilty of their aid against Horus implies they could have provided it. I wonder if they were exiled for some major failure outside of the universe itself, perhaps given a penitive order to bring the Truth beyond its boundaries

    • @Duppyman695

    • @BurningFyre

      @@Duppyman695 That would be very odd if so. The remaining primarchs were ignorant of chaos and the warp, so the two could not have fallen like those who did in the Heresy, and even those who transgressed against the Truth were not totally redacted like the two lost primarchs.

  • @F4GRAPHICS
    @F4GRAPHICS 4 года назад +11

    Interesting that many of the primarchs feel a real mix of emotions at the abandonment of their brother's memory. We know Lorgar, in some way is responsible for the death of one of them. We also know Horus, Magnus, Alpharius, Lorgar and even some of the loyal primarchs, like Guilliman, are bitter over the treatment of their lost brothers memory. Horus comes to blows with Malcador over this.
    So it's interesting to me that the brothers feel differently to seemingly the rest of the imperium.

    At 12:52, do you think Malcador misspoke, or it was deliberate phrasing?
    Dorn muses (in response to having 13 Primarchs remaining loyal) "Would that it were fifteen,"
    And Malcador replies:
    "Do not even think it, my friend," Malcador warns. "They are lost to us forever."
    Why would Malcador need to "warn" Dorn of anything if nothing could be done about it? He's not condemning the thought of two dead brothers, he's warning against Dorn thinking about having two more Primarchs in the field.
    Also, not "Dead," or "Gone," he specifically says "Lost" and "Forever." As if something could happen to change that in the future. If they were truly dead wouldn't Malcador simply say "They are lost to us."
    It implies heavily that the Lost Two are not actually dead, and both Dorn and Malcador know their location, and that it may be possible to retrieve them.

    • @MrFredstt
      @MrFredstt 4 года назад +10

      Begs the question then, if what they did wasn't bad enough to warrant death but some sort of exile, what exactly did they do then to warrant a complete silence about who they were? If it's so bad that no one talks about them, surely they would have been executed?

      Specifically, Malcador's warning is against *thinking* of the return of the Lost Primarchs.
      This implies far more than the possibility that the Lost Primarchs are alive. This implies that thinking about them or especially about their return is by itself sufficient to risk undoing the Edict of Obliteration and suffering whatever consequences the Edict was meant to prevent.
      This implies either that the original powers of the Primarchs (or whatever they became) is based in the knowledge other sapient beings have of them, or that the threat they pose to the Imperium can only be staved off by near-absolute ignorance of them. The intersection of the Lost Primarchs with the mystery at the core of the Rangdan Xenocides leads me to believe that the Xenocides either revealed that the Lost held psychic powers previously unknown to the Emperor, or that the Xenocides somehow transformed them into some kind of universal psychic threat.

Prior to them being scattered by Chaos and named, all of the Primarchs were called "Subject" followed by their future legion's number. It's also mentioned that all of these cells need to be warded and escape is always a threat. My head canon is that the 11th Primarch knew and understood Chaos prior to the Emperor finding him. The Emperor forced him to swear himself to silence, one that was broken. Once it was broken, he was recalled to Terra and thrown in a cell. He was forgotten during the Horus Heresy, and the death of Malcador as well as Emperor being put on the Throne, no one knew he was there save for the Custodes.

They came into being as soon as he sat on the Golden Throne as angelic beings of fire, and some as flaming shadows vaguely resembling space marines. Over the milennia, apparently Emps has refinced the process, merging these flaming spirits with actual dead space marine souls, or perhaps using the souls as raw material. (In fact, perhaps the II and/or XI ended up being prototype Legion of the Damned. Something useful to do with them if they were somehow trapped out of phase or in the warp.) Obviously, all in theory, however.

    For the record I've listened to your dulcet tones for probably around 400 nights of the last years. The ambience is perfect. The presentation is litterally the best of any 40k lore channel I'm subscribed to. Of which there are a dozen including 40k theory and 40 facts.
    Yet these I listen to time and again. Baby geniusing myself with 40k lore before bed haha. Not to mention when someone gets into 40k this is the first place I send them. So much love my friend. This is exactly what I would want to create if I did it myself. So well researched. The information presented perfectly to mine ear... kitty attack and all ^.^
    My favourite remains the video about old Earth but to be frank they are all amazing. Thank you a million for these. I've suffered from such bad insomnia my doctor gave me a lifetime script of sleeping pills. These videos have in actuality and litterally been a lifesaver to me. As sleeping pills shouldn't be taken every day, I'll often set up 3-4 videos. By the fourth I'm typically asleep and if not I'll just keep loading sets until I get there haha > . <
    So again and finally... thank you. I am grateful beyond words and as soon as I'm back in better health will be jumping on that Patreon.
    Finally... BUTTSTUFFKAIJU FOR LIFE!!!
    Always brings a smile to my face.... that others want to change it?! Screw em all and let em grow up and step outta their comfort zones :P
    It's good for them. 😈😇

    My personal fanfiction is that the 2nd Primarch had a navigator third eye. He had by the time Emperor found him already started controling star systems around his home world. His legion specialized at ship combat and fast attack tactics. they were known for fighting any enemy with advanced space navies and being able to swiftly reinforce imperial campaigns. He was friends with Magnus , Jaghatai Khan and Dorn. He disliked Mortarion, Perturabo and Fulgrim. He and the Vast majority of his legion and fleet was lost in a huge warp storm (though his fleet would reappear flung into future as a games workshop event)

    • @jasonmcquain7821

      A year late to the party but I really like the idea of one of the lost Primarchs having been the Emperor experimenting with the Navi genes (alongside his own). That just seems to make a lot of sense. As does a Legion focused on/specialized in void combat.

    My head canon regarding the innocent primarch is that he truly was pure, with a simple life in a peaceful world. The Emperor came yo him and he agreed to go with Him once he outlived his loved ones. Yet, sometime before finding Angron, when the loved ones of the pure primarch died, he decided he could not or would not bear it and killed himself.
    Maybe that is why he was erased from history and why the Emperor would treat Angron in a such uncaracteristic unfair way, because He simply could not loose another in such a short moment. If that were true, it would be a first instance of the Emperor's true love to His sons, which would make the doubt to kill Horus make more sense.

    My guess is that at least one of the two lost ones found a way to be fertile. This would have elevated the marines truly above humans, but also betrayed the cause of their creation as well, being made to unite the galaxy, and fade form existence later. What father could deny his sons such a gift? The emporer did, but perhaps the Unkown one did not, and was erased from history for it.
    For the other, I'd guess his geneseed became unstable, mutating him and his legion in body, but not mind. This is only based on Sanguinius dread of suffering a fate similar to the Unknown ones.

      The first thought that came to my mind was that they were SAWFT! Meaning, they may have been strong, powerful, but maybe refused the Emperor's offer to return, in order to protect what they have built. That may have included bringing a Xenos race under their protective wing, or cooperating with the Xenos, or willingly being subject to a benevolent Xenos rule! They may have vehemently disagreed with the Emperor's methods and decisions, perhaps seeing themselves as abominations, rather than superhuman. Dorn wanted them on the battlefield alongside him, which to me, means they were martially capable, and he didn't fear their betrayal.

    • @TheHobgoblyn
      @TheHobgoblyn 4 года назад +4

      I think you both hit on it-- one was a mutant somehow worse than all the other mutations that the other legions express (though what form that could take is a mystery), the other was a traitor out of sympathy for some group that was neither Imperial nor Demonic and would have been seen as going down fighting for their own moral code. Both of these would destroy the image of the Space Marines either being absolute perfection or absolutely loyal to the Emperor or that the Emperor is always right. Such things would need to be erased.... at least with the 8 Traitor Legions, they serve the Imperial propaganda by being great villains.

    • @gabesteinberg6244
      @gabesteinberg6244 4 года назад +2

      @Awesomotron2k - I agree with the fertility angle, but I think that they were the Purged. I think that the Lost may have been some kind of sacrifice or exchange to Chaos or Xenos or AI of some kind. Both were supposedly still “accessible” during the Horus Heresy, and the primarchs viewed them with sorrow rather than anger, so I don’t think that it was some kind of treason.
