Nikita Lobanov Lorgar be praised 🙌🏽 lol
You just roasted him and got him ice all at once. 👏👏😭👏👏
Bravo
I choose to read this as the Emperor lecturing the Seventeenth... and Lorgar evidently not listening.
Then completely misinterpreting big E's words.
Sounds about right to me.
"What is your Warfare Specialization?"
Word Bearers: "Trash Talking"
Lorgar: Have you lost your temper, Roboute?
Guilliman: I am going to gut you.
Lorgar: You have lost your temper.
Dude you playing the role of a historian from that time is pure genius. I have long commutes to work and listening to your content helps a lot. It's almost like a audiobook. Keep up the excellent work 👍
Thanks so much! Delighted you're enjoying the channel so much :D
Your conversation with Guilliman was well done. Complement the guy who played him for me, he nailed it.
I still want him to have a conversation with an Inquisitor. That would be fun!
I guess Lorgar got what he wanted, in the end. The Emperor is now deified, just the way Lorgar wanted.
It irks him to no end that he ended up laying down the foundation for worshiping, what he believes to be, the most evil being in existence.
Or is he though pretty sure the emperor and god emperor are 2 different entities.
He literally wrote the entire bible for the imperium lol and they don’t even know they’re following the original heretic.

Really love the atmosphere you create with your videos. The little inflections you make to add character to your sentences is a small detail that goes a long way. Also, I find it surprising that the (Irish?) accent fits quite neatly with the Warhammer material.
That's an Irish accent?
@@tylerthegrimm I think?
@@HAC88224 well, it probably is cause some of the Irish people I've seen on RUclips speak and you wouldnt be able to even tell they are Irish because the accent is so slight, and some its blatantly obvious. So I guess it's like Texas where some people say warsh and some say wash, some sound super country, and others less country. Idk Irish is hard for me to pick up on.
His accent and inflections convey an academic and almost religious reverence for the material being read. At least that's how I feel :)
He is speaking in High English.

what hapened to the souls of those loyal worshippers killed in Monarchia? Were they just lost in the warp or did they already add to the metaphysical being the emperor was about to become although he himself would have been disgusted by this idea?
By the Emperor, Archmagos, this is a risky subject to cover. I pray you do not incur the wrath of the Inquisition.

@Iron Hands Terminator and those of Dorns children, who have stood right beside the emperor, understand that a knowing mind is a prepared mind.
The Chronicler is favoured by the current Lord Regent and has recorded far more heretical themes under Guilliman's authority.
It seems the Avenging Son's ability to plan ahead is being displayed here: The Ultramarine's Primarch knows that in the advent of the Emperor being restored on Terra, the current... "worship" would incur His wrath. It is my believe that Guilliman is attempting to lay a bed so the imperial citizens slowly start to walk towards the Imperial Truth once again, using our favourite Chronicler to do so.
Nothing less to expect from the Primarch of the XIIIth Legion.
I do not trust this so-called "true son" of our glorious Emperor, for he has not given us any aid in the Northern Segmenta of the galaxy.
Is it possible The Emperor could have screwed up in the fatherhood department anymore severely than with Lorgar? I mean, maybe Konrad, Angron and Perturabo, but wow did he end up screwing up Lorgar.
I think creating children that each share parts of his divine nature and then viewing those children as nothing more than instruments to be discarded after fulfilling their purpose one day was Big E´s worst idea in general. He essentially created 20 unique demigods and expected them to be completely in line with all his plans and designs without any interest in their personality.
On the other hand them developing their own personalities was never the plan to begin with. Things would have gone very differently if the Primarchs had grown up on Terra under the Emperor´s tutoring.
@@TheTheKreischa True, but even IF they were never cast to the Warp in their gestation pods, people aren't droids. Sure you can raise them to follow your example, but inevitably they are going to start having opinions and feelings of their own.
Hell, Horus has been rumored to have been found by The Emperor as near enough a child and therefore had as close to the intended upbringing The Emperor envisioned for his "Sons" as possible, (barring the possibilities of the rumors of the Alpha twins remaining on Terra in secret, but who the f**k knows when it comes to the Alpha Legion.)
Then again, in his defense, The Emperor's views on his "Sons" have always been up for debate, namely because the author's seem to love the fan debates. It is possible that, while The Emperor didn't intend to love them, he ended up having a fondness for them. (His "death" at Horus' end doesn't make sense if he didn't love him even a little, considering his love for him was the only thing holding him back from unleashing his full-power.)
Why he did what he did to Lorgar is puzzling. Burning your sons life work and then having his "better, greater son" do your dirty work for you, if almost guaranteed to create resentment. How The Emperor, who probably knows everything you could possibly know about human psychology, is surprisingly poor at grasping human feelings.
Possibly the problem of absent fathers?
@@Vyktym76 I suspect that the Emperor probably underestimated the difficulty of having 20 sons. Time after time we hear about how they competed against each other for his attention. I think, for all his virtues, the Emperor forgot that his children were still human at the end of the day, mighty beyond mortal reckoning but each still possessing a heart and a soul that could be wounded as easily as anybody else's.
I'd say his first mistake was letting them think they were his children. His second mistake was not trusting them to know the truth.
Instead he tried to use them as tools and forgot to read the safety manual.
Lorgar is actually one of my favorite primarchs and I'm a "loyalist". The Emperor did him dirty along with Angron, and Magnus.
Angron was done dirty before he met the Emperor when he was found by slavers on Nuceria. He was broken before he was found because of the butchers nails and how he grew up. Even if the Big E save his gladiator brothers, they probably would have seen it as a great dishonor and they would fester some ill will towards him still.
Magnus messed up a little and was done dirty by Horus more than the Emperor. For the policy of psycher's he was given a trail for both sides, pro and anti. The vote of the council was what determined that. He did go against the council's rulings to reach the Emperor on his own accord and the causing damage to the webway project. Russ was only dispatched to bring him back to terra. Horus changed the orders for Russ to kill him and eradicate the legion. Magnus first decided to just sit there and even help the wolves with the Thousand Sons destruction. After the fight with Russ he gave in to Tzeentch to save himself and his sons.
Perturabo was done dirty with his legion split up for garrison duties across the Imperium and continuous siege battles. He was barely given any credit for his deeds and even saw as lesser to Dorn. The nail that broke his loyalty is when his home world rebelled and he could not let it stand as he believed it would be seen as a weakness. They slaughtered millions and enslaved the rest, he believed the Emperor could not forgive what he had done. But also it is rumored Horus had a hand in the planets rebellion to pull him towards his side.
Perturabo deserved everything that ever happened to him, and more. The constant decimation of his own legion dealt more damage to the Iron Warriors proved he should have never been given command of an ice cream truck, never mind a legion. No worthwhile leader decides to slaughter 10% of his own sons for no reason.
@@ZeroNumerous I'm not saying he was the greatest leader and the decimation only happened when he took command. The mortality rate was high in his legion, due to siege and trench warfare that they were given no respite from. Which are one of the most hellish and demoralizing types of combat.
Magnus was supposed to be brought back to the Emperor to be punished. Instead Horus changed the orders and told Russ to wipe out the Thousand Sons
Magnus was done rather dirty at Nikea yes but at the Heresy he was done dirty by Horus not Big E or Lemon Woof.
Based on this art its nice to see that the band "Ghost" will still be giving concerts in grim-dark future
Scary how Lorgar is the only Primarch who actually looks genuinely content in his portrait, maybe even /happy/...
The Emperor made him that way. It was his gene-wrought nature. Like he denied Magnus after Nikea! The Emperor was a fool to expect his creations to not do what he bred them to do, simply at a word.
Lorgar is a tragic character for sure. But If the emperor would have been more a man of the people like Lorgar was maybe tragedy might never have happened. It's remarkable for the emperor walking among men since ancient times but not being closer to the ones he rose to rescue. The believe in our supremacy won't comfort you when you are hiding in the basement while screaming xenos butcher your entire colony ; the believe in science won't comfort parents sitting on their ill kid's bed with no doctor available ; the believe in progress won't keep you warm when your ship's engine fails and you are drifting in the cold dark void. Humanity is nothing without faith. Lorgar was right. And Lorgar was wrong.
The only way that the emperor could have changed Lorgar's mind without him turning to chaos was to talk to him one on one about his origins & the nature of chaos.
If Lorgar understood that the "divinity" that the emperor had came from a ritual performed by a massive number of ancient shamans, then he'd realize that the emperor is still just a man, and his entire argument for his divinity would fall apart. When Lorgar inevitably breaks down mentally from this fact, his father would be there to steer him away from his erstwhile path, and back to the Imperial Truth.
Adeptus Forge out of all the things that happened, Lorgar’s story feels the most contrived. The most charismatic man in the galaxy can’t convince another man about a fact that concerns himself? How the fuck is that even possible?
I think the whole idea that an empire of quadrillions who are all so loyal to the Emperor that they die willingly just to get closer to him or.perform the most idiotic tasks in his service all completely disregard his express commands and do the opposite of what they know he has preached for thousands od years is pretty dumb in general. Then again, the Emperor himself was a bit of a dumbass in the lore.
@@SpaghettiToaster Except the whole fact that after 10,000 years the Imperium is not the same as it was.
'Listen son, did you ever stop to think that all this church building is just slowing us down? It feels kind of selfish considering how many people out there are just waiting to hear how great I am. So why not get back to conquering? It would really please me too since it's why I made you!'
-The Emperor dealing with Lorgar without being a massive dick about it.
The true irony is that Lorgar's faith was that this faith is now the firmest bulwark Humanity holds against the horrors of the Warp!
If GW brings back Lorgar, it'll be cool to find out what he's been doing while holed up in his chambers for 10,000 years. A new holy text? A mind-destroying ritual? The hottest mix tape of M42?
Apparently trying to "deny fate" ir whate er the fuck that means
Bruh, how do you not have more subs? I don't even play 40k, but I can't stop watching these vids.
It's interesting that each fallen primarch is an example of the emperor's failure. He failed them, and mankind, as a farther, ruler, he failed in so human a way.
The Emperor Protects!!!
Chronicler, these topics are of great risk to be discussed.

Damn, this dude has some serious clout to keep him from getting pulped into dust by the Inquisition.
Deus Vultinator a primark told him to do this.
Roboute Guillieman-shaped clout, to be precise. There's an earlier vid about it.
The Word Bearers are the most tragic figures, including their primarch.
Lorgar was a weak gullible fool who was corrupted into a monster. The Word Bearers are tragic in a way, at first I can pity them, but what they became is unforgivable, they were damned because they wanted to please their Primarch and Lorgar saw them as expendible tools, not as his sons.
The blame lays 100% on Erebus and Kor Phaeron, they corrupted Lorgar, sowing poison in his ears when he was at his weakest after Monarchia, and in doing so damned Lorgar, his Legion, and the entire Imperial project.
@@stevepalpatine2828 How do think the Black Templars will react when Lord Commander Girlyman tells them that their faith is misplaced and the Emperor does not approve, burning down their greatest place of worship?
The Word Bearers were simply ahead of their times, and yet so much behind. Religion is the downfall of all civilization.
@@SpadeRZA I can see problems ahead...
@@stevepalpatine2828 I think we agree then. Good talk, my friend.
@@SpadeRZA I think the the Templars have held the line with their faith for millennia, it's gonna be hard for Rowboat to convince them they're wrong when they've seen first hand the Emperor actually does Protect.
Its hilarious when you think about it, Lorgar won after all in a way, Emps never wanted t be worshipped, but as a direct result of what he did on Monarchia, he's now stuck on the throne, watching for ten millennia as his enlightened secular empire has degenerated into religious fanaticism, and the funniest thing is Lorgar wrote the Divinitatus lol.
Maybe Emp should have kept turning a blind eye, he engineered Aurelian to be a gullible religious fanatic, then lost his shit when he did just what he was engineered to do...
Emperor: This is my imperial truth: There is no god and I outlaw religion......apart from the one on Mars for they gave me the stuff I need to reclaim the galaxy...and there are the chaos gods but I wont tell others about their existence.
Man! Each of the “many” versions of the heresy I visit, I swear.., it breaks my heart....
A beautiful body of work. Lorgar is an interesting primarch. That his focus was on scripture and the people that were brought into compliance. I would love to learn more about both him and his legion. While several have already penned such records. I wait in ever anticipation as to how you would put your spin upon this topic. I hope we can see part 2 soon.
The thing is, Lorgar was right all along: Emps IS a god. He even has perpetually-resurrecting saints and an undying legion that appear at highly-opportune moments to fight alongside mortal Imperial forces.
That just means he has an incredibly strong presence in the warp it doesn't really make him a god any more khorne is and khorne is just the manifestation of an emotion
grayson hellyer So Khorne isn't a god either? He's literally referred to as a "Chaos god" in the literature.
@@MaffBowers yes by himself or parts of himself and worshipers of chaos... kind of the whole point the emperor was trying to make just because some one says some one is a god doesn't actually make then a god
grayson hellyer Of course, anyone can call themselves a god and it means nothing of the sort, but both Khorne and the Emperor are surely gods by any sensible definition of such: beings residing in the Warp, with Galaxy-wide supernatural powers including that of resurrecting their followers, and having powerful Warp-beings fighting on their behalf. If that isn't a god, I don't know what is.
@@MaffBowers a God is something Divine in nature, something Metaphysical that is beyond being subject to reality. A “higher power”.
Khorne and the other chaos gods aren’t true gods, not in any real sense anyway. They
are created by life, and must be constantly sustained by that life in order to exist.
It is much more accurate to see them as sentient ideas, not gods. They are what happens when pyschic energy reaches a point of singularity and becomes self aware.
time isn’t linear in the warp, so technically, relative to themselves only, the chaos gods have always existed. But in terms of real space, they weren’t formed until the war in heaven, and activated until the human Middle Ages. So relative to Universal history, the chaos “gods” are younger beings than the emperor.
And despite being able to have existed perpetually in the warp, they still rely on real space evens and time scales in order to act. If they were unbound to reality completely they would have been able to act before the age of strife. That makes them entirely reliant on reality to exist, a true god would not be subject to those limitations.
The emperor is simply a man with an enormous amount of psychic power. He has gotten the same affect as the chaos “gods” have, all the worship of him has started to reach critical mass. He is still, as he himself has said, not a god.
The emperor understood that the warp reacts to belief. Belief in a god can create a manifestation of it out of pyschic energy, but it can’t create true gods, simply due to the limitations of the warp and how it reacts with real space
I love the background music and serious tone of these videos . You got me started on 40k lore about 3 years ago . I put on the emperor of man video while I cut the grass . I was immediately hooked , fantastic job man . Thank you for countless hours of entertainment
The emperor was supposedly a master orator and yet couldn't convince a dude who literally worshipped the ground he walked upon, just because it would rustle his neckbeard. like, he MADE them to be tools willing to do whatever he told them to, and in that Lorgar would have been the most successful and loyal of all if Big E had just been like "Yeah sure whatever I'm a god, but its our little secret- so don't tell anyone and get ready to say I told you so after we finish our work, (the faster the better!) k pumpkin?" instead of literally bombing the representation of the philosophy on which his loyalty stood.
I see you truly are making the most of the blessings of the Regent, before they expire. Continue to stride boldly through the haunted past and benighted present, Historitor.
I like the picture of khaine at 22:02 , like that's 100% the sort of mistake/censor any loyal imperial record keeper would make on such a topic.

It seems that the Emperor could have had a staunch ally in Lorgar had he accepted his son's gifts and personality rather than demanding he become something that he's not.
Citizen: Lord inquisitor, is the Emperor god?
Inquisitor: Of course not, he was very clear about that.
Citizen: So can we stop worshiping him?
Inquisitor: *cocks inferno pistol* Absolutely not.
There are few things more gratifying than your videos; I love that they’re meant to be in-universe.
All the Emperor had to do was tell Lorgar to conquer the galaxy faster if he wanted to prove his faith in him and tell Roboute to mind his own business. The Emperor should have known that punishing Lorgar in the way he did would send him down the path of worshiping Chaos.

Colchis is intresting in that it shows a World where the populous follows a religion based on Chaos Worship, yet ultimately a place no worse or more violent than any other Imperial world in the setting.
Anyone else think it’s interesting that Lorgar was raised on a planet that worshiped 4 gods...just gonna put that out there
The players of the great game used to be much more brazen.
Given that the Emperor knew what Chaos was it really makes you wonder if he didn’t bother to notice it or if he cared more about getting a Primarch back than what happened to said Primarch
Chtonia wasn't tainted by chaos and many cultures in the galaxy instinctively knew about the ruinous powers and incorporated that into their belief systems in one way or another.
Those four were the Chaos 4, just with different names
40k wiki: "The predominant religion on Colchis was that of the Covenant, later known as the "Old Faith" or the "Old Ways." It was a polytheistic religion dedicated to the worship of four entities that were in fact the Chaos Gods in more benevolent guises."
yea, lorgar and magnus... just.. probably the two sons that loved their father the most, and he just utterly betrayed them.. Horus an fulgrim maybe were beyond saving due to circumstances and their arrogance... pert', mortarion, angron, and conrade all were so fucked up and bitter by the time big E found them that it was always a toss up weather they would turn or not as their relationship with big E was already mostly distant and strained.. pert' was probably avoidable if they had just seen to acknowledge his achievements and give him some credit when he deserved it, but lorgar and magnus? they were completely avoidable losses. the way he handled those situations made absolutely no sense. honestly with the way he tricked and used russ, he's lucky he didn't turn on him to, it was already clear that he was against russ's culture and wanted it wiped away to his "imperial truth". that goes for the khan to. he had absolutely no reason to stay, except that maybe somewhere deep down he felt he must, but it was simply a personal choice, not one made from loyalty.. going back to lorgar though... I mean all he had to do was just talk to him. not humiliate him in front of his legion, not burn his city, not belittle his legions achievements, not pit him against his own brother... just take him to the side and fucking talk to him, in private.

So, the Emperor unintentionally set the rise of chaos in motion by breaking the son who loved him the most? Never thought I would feel sorry for Lorgar.
Love and worship are not the same thing. He didn't love what the Emperor actually was.
Love and worship are pretty close together. Even he didn't love the emperor for who he was, but for what he thought he was. For a time he did love/worship him. Even it was based on a misconception.

I wonder if the Emperor, being so psychically gifted, would have had chaos trying to corrupt him 24/7. It may be possible the Emperor was fighting wars both physically and mentally. I wonder how badly the birth of the prince of pleasure may have fucked him up, maybe sent him into a few decades long coma or something. The point I'm making is that the Emperor is a master of an imperfect species in an imperfect galaxy. He is a man or at least was once a man and he made mistakes, the only problem is that when a being such as the Emperor makes mistakes it effects countless billions.
One can pity the heretic and traitor, even as one puts them to death. Mourn the loss to all mankind that the wasted potential represents, but mourn after justice is done.
Beautifully said, and undeniably true.
Do not pity the unclean if we did all of the loyal followers of the many hand Emperor would fall into ruin we purge the heretics because they are all of the emperim goes against therefore we must learn from our past but we look to the future the preservation of our own race

The biggest act of betrayal of the entire Horus Heresy. Turning from the light of The Emperor....
I would personally put Erebus to the sword.
Only The Emperor can judge Lorgar.
Very very good, though you're off on a few facts there. Kor Phaeron was an exiled priest who, with a group of vagabond band of followers, discovered Lorgar with a loving family that had likewise found him in the desert. Kor had the family killed and took the child as his own, and abusively raised him. Originally Lorgar taught the Old Faith. When he began to preach about the One, it was as a fifth edition to the Four. Later preaching the Ones supremacy then only preaching the One.
The Imperial Heralds also, weren't renamed immediately. Lorgar and his inner circle waited until the old Terrans died out through the attrition of war and the new recruits from Colchis had entirely replaced them, in numbers and ideology. When the last Imperial Herald converted or died, Lorgar penned the new name, symbolically as the Word Bearers.
A true bearer of the word.

New to the channel, really loving the videos. Quick question: Are you a Dune fan? "A beginning is a very delicate time. Know then, that is is the year 10191"
Well caught! Entirely a reference to the best intro to an incredibly bad/amazing movie.
And with this I'm caught up!
More Lorgar and Word Bearers. They are really growing on me the more I learn.
I really hope you update this series soon!!
Yeah boy, the best primarch! Dab on the fedora tippers Golden One.
@@microchip9982 That's why he's the best primarch, fedora-sympathizer
Well done my son keep up the good work
FOR YOU GLORY MASTER OF MANKIND!
I see best Boi.
I hit like
Only the true Messiah would deny his divinity!
Instant like.
I like see past two the pilgrimages of lorgar
Finally! Someone did justice to the prophet Lorgar! 😊
Nice to see a fellow Lorgar fan!
@@Kristian.B.Kristiansen oh yes. This character is deeper than most care to admit
@@jeffmusyoka1876 yes, and the only person who saw chaos for what it truly was, and joined of his own free will. It is a delicious irony, that literally every human in the galaxy lost the Horus Heresy War except Lorgar, who by his elevation to demonhood was the only vindicated winner. 😈
@@Kristian.B.Kristiansen haha yes. I think he would be proud of the current imperium under the ecclesiarchy
@@jeffmusyoka1876 I can recommend the Horus Heresy short story, Revelation of the Word. That is Lorgars first run in with worshippers of the Emperor using his own book while he is leading the Heresy war. He hates the worshippers of the Emperor as blinded fools, still clinging to a false faith, that he has freed himself from.
love how lorgar was 10k years ahead of the impirium
Can you please do something about the Age of Apostacy? It's my favourite period of the imperium
Ultra smurfs annihilate an entire world of loyalists and get pats on the shoulder from Rowboat Girlyman aswell as the emprah.
Lorgar just goes full vegetable because he cant grasp the sheer stupidity of this choice by the emperor.
