    Unlike some people, I love the new styling of the Mustang

    FYI, the trunk actually does have a button. It's a bit hard to find, though; it's right above the rear license plate, underneath the lip. I actually had to show it to the dealer when I went for a test drive.

    I'm 53, V8 Sticks most of my life, and loved them all til now.. Now I find the loud V8 sound very irritating.. Selling my '01 Mustang BULLITT GT for an Ecoboost, LOVE that it has more HP than my current GT with over twice the gas mileage, and LOVE the sound of the Turbo 4.. Blasphemous some may say.. But HEY.. that's just me..... 20 yrs younger? yeah, I'd opt for the GT.. but not anymore... The Ecoboost has more power than I'll ever need

      +Dennis Mattson I like the way you think. I'm 54, and thinking the same. If I was 34 a V8 manual would be it, but I'm not 34 anymore and I want to drive this Mustang into retirement. The Ecoboost is a prefect match. Better still I'm going to get it in RHD from the factory (I live in New Zealand) so that's a big bonus. Bit of a wait though, delivery for me is in October.

      Nothing wrong with getting a ecoboost people love to hate on em but really why should they its your money get what makes you happy

      That's one of the smartest things I've read in a long time. With the price of gas today, the Ecoboost makes nothing but sense. I love the looks of the latest model and really think that Ford has done an awesome job with the turbo 4 powerplant. I am like you. I think 310 HP for a muscle car is more than enough. I'm getting ready to purchase a 2018 Ecoboost with the 10 speed auto.

  • @anthonygonzalez9422
    @anthonygonzalez9422 9 лет назад +2

    The Ecoboost is already in the 11's with a tune and bolt-ons. But how could anyone buy one for over 30 grand without getting the GT? I bought mine for 23K and for that money there is NOTHING out there that gives you that much back.

    Drove the eco boost automatic version for 2 days last week and I got to say I came away impressed. There was enough power especially when you take the reins yourself via paddle shifters and keep the engine in the torque band, it pretty much rockets forward especially at lower speeds around town. That was a considerable improvement over last gen V-6 Camaro which I also have driven. What did not impress me, especially versus the Camaro, was the way it cornered. It was just not quite as capable, I think it was made worse by the steering. While the difference between the 3 steering modes was noticeable, I just didn't think the steering was precise enough. In fact I thought I get more precision in some 4 door mundane sedans that you all have driven (though there was a lack of understeer that those FWD have). The cabin layout and design looked nice but materials could be better, some hard plastics that were questionable. All in all though not a bad vehicle at all, great exterior looks, decent handling and body control, good power if you are willing to work to keep it in the powerband, and good comfort. I think its safe to buy the 4 cylinder, I would...

    I do prefer the exhaust sound of a V8. But, out of all of the new retro pony/muscle cars, this is the only one I can see getting away with a 4 cylinder. However, it needs to at least have a good sports car exhaust note to it. I have seen a couple of aftermarket exhausts that are...ok. But I think Ford needs to dial in something better in the sound department.

    i hate how so many ppl trash the ecoboost but can buy a v6 lol tbh if anything the v6 is the true failure, just cuase its closer to 8 its not any better atleast the eco boost knows its not a v8 but isnt trying to be one as where the v6 is just misplaced and should no longer exist imo, v4 has taken over for the v6 and its not even close

    The best mustang yet. However, if I was to buy one, I would skip the excellent 2.3, not because it's not a great powertrain, but because the six and eight cylinder powertrains have more soul to me and better captures the general spirit of the mustang.

    I completely agree with you Steve. My first drive in the new mustang was a v8 with a manual and while it was good fun I wasn't excited to drive it at any point. This is also the first mustang since the first gen that I think actually looks correct. When I drove it I felt like I was in the same position as the 66 mustang I drove a few months ago. That was cool but the rest of the car let me down in almost every aspect. I even thought there wasn't enough engine noise in the v8 trim. I had a better time driving a base RT challenger so I think i'll be getting that scat pack you reviewed a couple months back!

      Aftermarket exhaust really wakes up the car at cheap cost. Check out my channel I have ten series on my 2015 gt mustang and its a head turner all the time. So at least you won't get raped by camaro ss and mustang gts. Regardless of how 'nice' the challenger sounds it still handles the worst out of all three and the rt is the slowest of the 3 unless you go for the srt8 then by all means..

    While I agree that Ford had an eye for exports for this car, there is a lot you can with after market mods with a turbo charged car. What is the most disappointing aspect for me about the turbo Mustang is that the weight loss over the nose has not made more of a sports car. A 300hp RWD, less than 30k with great handling would have been pretty sweet - maybe some after market suspension switches make work.

    I think your a little too biased towards the eco boost. Of course the coyote is better in every way: power, sound, etc with the exeption of fuel economy but i dont think the eco boost is meant to compete with it. If anything you should compared it against the v6. Its a bit unfair to compare it to a engine that has 4 more cylinders

    • @stevehammes
      @stevehammes  9 лет назад +1

      984337brian I wasn't really trying to compare it to anything per se...it's a great little car. My point is that I'm just biased when it comes to Mustangs. I guess I need a V8 to feel like I'm driving one.

    Id rather get the new camaro instead. I have a 2012 v6 camaro with custom front splitter, mrt exhaust and cai and it sounds more beastly than the new mustang plus still better in the corners and has more hp as well. I love my camaro! I still get 16.2 mpg even the way I drive...lol modified the interior and exterior of the camaro as well. btw not everyone knows how to stick shift which why I got paddle shifters on mine. Love your reviews btw Steve!
