I got mine on March 31st of this year. It is optioned with everything except Recaro seats and adaptive cruise. The sticker was 36K and I paid 33K before taxes. I now have 6,500 fun miles on twisty Colorado roads and a 3,000 mile car camping trip to Yosemite, PCH, Sequoia and Death Valley. It has never averaged less than 27 mpg. It's a great car, I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
There's one of these at a local dealer for $15k, I'm seriously contemplating picking it up, mainly for the fuel economy compared to my 2008 Silverado that I daily at the moment. Seems like a good daily along with being able to have a little fun with it on the weekends. Nice review!
I know I'm late to the party with this video , but it's nice to see an honest review of this car , all I've ever owned was mustangs , other cars don't exist in my opinion , up until two years ago I owned two of them , but in early 2017 I added an additional mustang to the garage , a 2017 premium EcoBoost , I have to say it's a great car , and I honestly don't ever plan on parting with it , it's a blast to drive , way more fun than my 2002gt , and gets more than twice the gas mileage than my 68gt , great review sir !
Steve Hall Im watching this video recently as well lol It truly is a very fun car to drive. Just use 93 octane and have fun! I will say, though, heat and the ecoboost are not compatible lol (probably any turbo car, really) but mostly this car due to its stock intercooler which, from what I have read, is a must mod to prevent any power drops.
@@M4B21S88 very true with the heat , mine does not like the heat at all ! But that is a very simple fix . It's a great car though , mine are put away for the winter at the moment in the back of my garage , it gets pretty nasty here in Jersey this time of year , but at least I can go out there and play with them .
Steve Hall I live in Fl and our “winter” is great for this car. Its a completely different beast lol during this time. Really anything below 85F is good, but man is it fun! I cant imagine living in a state like Az with 100 + cuz as soon as my IAT go above 105 i feel the drop in power. By summer’19 I will get a better intercooler.
Best review of the mustang. Made me confident in my choice of a GT if I were to get one. Also the references to BMW are very encouraging , as I am a current bimmer driver.
Just bought me a 2018 Ecoboost and we love it ..lightning blue with performance pack and upgraded suspension..we live in the uk and not that many mustangs in our park of the U.K. 👍
You know how the head tends to end up ruling the heart when it comes to buying a car? Well, when you said you wouldn't expect much difference in mpg fuel economy between the Ecoboost and a 5.0 V8... that was a really happy moment!!
The Ricaro seats are much more cooler than the standard seats.Coolness always outlays comfortable ses . When you're getting a P mobile you gotta go with the cooler seats. The 2016 Ford Focus RS has the same engine as this mustang but they made it a 2.5 liter and faster with 4 wheel drive. In a smaller lighter hatchback body.
Tomas Nordin No and it's not likely. The V6 isn't a car Ford is really placing in their press pool as it's a model mostly sold to rental fleets and to dealers for an ad special to get floor traffic based on a low price. The cars we have access to are the ones that tend to be more equipped.
Nice to have a review of this car from a true Mustang fan like yourself. I'm disappointed to hear that the fuel economy isn't quite as advertised for the EcoBoost. As for whether to choose a GT over the EcoBoost, I'd have to also consider the cost of insuring both of them. Traditionally insurance companies view V8 coupes as a higher risk and charge their owners higher premiums to insure them. But nothing beats the sound of a V8 engine and a good exhaust system!
And once again preference for the V8 if it comes to price. Except for Europe, where taxes on those kind of cars (horsepower and CO2 emission) is huge. And not to forget price for fuel. So this ecoboost model is very well suited for the european market. No critics on the V8 whatsoever. Mustang = great car in all its versions as far as I am concerned. FYI the ecoboost model in Belgium (with comfort pack) costs 44500 dollar.
Nice review, Sam! It's good to see you in your element behind the wheel of a Mustang. I think you hit on the major problem many of us have with an optioned up EcoBoost: we're not really sure what it is. At 21mpg and $38+, the value proposition disappears, making one wonder "why no Coyote?" Saying that the best thing about a Mustang that costs nearly as much as a 485hp Scat Pack Challenger is that it handles nice is like complimenting the (currently) last place Red Sox for their snazzy uniforms; sure it's nice to take a turn, but not at the expense of power in the Muscle Car Genre. Keep up the good work!!
is there any brand new 2015-2017 ecoboost/v6 still available in any ford dealership nowadays? because the 2018 mustangs are having issues with the clutches and transmissions
Jam es probably not brand new. They stopped making them and A LOT of the ones they made gave out to rental/fleets. Most likely youll find one with some miles on.
I am a long time Mustang fan, and have had several, but Ford should never have taken the V6 out of the Mustang. It doesn't sound anything like a muscle car anymore. If you modify the exhaust, or even use the new Active Exhaust option on the 2019, it just sounds like an old little modified Subaru. The fuel economy is nice but equivalent to my last V6.
I have owned many Fords and NOT ONE came close to the EPA numbers so I understand why you didn't come close. Other cars I've owned exceeded the numbers.
well, I've got a 97 cobra, 92 F-150 as well, they all deliver the advertised fuel economy, consumer reports is also saying most people are getting the advertised fuel economy, but hey, to each their own man lol
Finally a affordable sports car that has the looks, enough power, and the MPG!!!!!!
Big mistake

My 2017 gets mid to high 20's in surburban driving. Over 30 on the US interstates at 65 mph.

I recently purchased a 2016 mustang v6 and I love it. It's great on gas and it drives great.
Down here in the flatlands I'm averaging 28 combined and 31 on my highway work commute. Love the car.
I manage to keep the fuel economy with mine and some dynamat helps with noise.

Good review, hope this can be repeated with the GT premium, with the standard seats.

Have you test driven the 2015 V6 version yet ?

Ok,thanks ! And thanks for a great program
!! Keep up the good work !!
+TestDrivenTV I took a v6 rental for a spin while I was visiting LA. It's still a fun car, even for the base of the base!

I think I made a mistake by buying this. The head gasket is an issue and the turbo throws underboost codes for no reason
People complaining about the 4 cyl must not remember or old enough to remember the 84-86 SVO
a mature balanced review...thank you
beautiful car and a beautifull video vlog respect.

If only the prices for a Mustang Ecoboost in Europe were the same as in the U.S.A!
amazing review.. GJ..!!
Sam rocks!

Steve W my 2011 fusion is rated at 33 mpg on the highway, I get 39/40 quite frequently.
Dealer - Gaming Based on this review and my experience with owning 7 Fords I would say that you are the exception rather than the rule.
