      +David Huston come to think of it, as someone who actually has been desensitized to things that shock and horrify other people, the reactions here to his reaction seems comedic. it's like, yeah, he stated a fact, but everyone's making a big deal about it XD of all the facts out there, this one is highlighted? I was personally amused by the way he said the grenade things always miss. felt like more of a genre lampshading than a reference to physics in reality.

    Weird thing to mention but I love that the animators of this scene made the guns feel heavy. Its easy to think that Batou is strong enough to lift the gun without having to put any momentum behind it, and it'd probably be easier and faster on animation too. But he swings it upwards and catches it. And then the recoil of the gun messes with his aim a little and the barrel lifts a little from the force of shooting

    • @dars5229
      @dars5229 2 года назад +48

      Great point. I find one of the biggest problems with modern CGI is there's no mass to the objects. People can subconsciously tell that an actor in front of a green screen is pretending to interact with something that has no genuine weight, and thus no real presence. Kinda crazy that by going that extra mile to give a prop a real sense of weight and mass, an animated film looks more "realistic" than a Hollywood blockbuster.

    I like the Crab Claw dude thing with the arm because that's kind of something discussed in the manga: why full body cyborgs are inherently stronger than partial cyborgs. Namely, the big cyborg arm is only as strong as the joint. The joint includes where it attaches to your shoulder or whatever. Although in the manga it has chibi Batou lifting a huge weight, and his arm falling off, and the Major easily lifting it. Because she was full and he wasn't. Whereas this Batou is really, really cyborged. Maybe not 100 percent, but a LOT. Enough that he can laugh at point blank grenade explosions.

There's no reason for him to drag these fights, he's the best of the best so obviously he'll just walk over them. Wow, amazing. Love this anime. That guy with the big crab looking knife looks really cool. I wonder if he was just an android or a member that just went through the process of getting modified and cyberized in such a way. So interesting :D
