    I agree on Cabrini.
The only prayer was a 4 second grace before a meal.
    Feminism and immigration.

With regard to Cabrini, the fact is that neither the writer, producers or director saw fit to include the crucial element in telling any story, the motivation of the protagonist. Frankly I find this refusal to include her motivation a slap in the face of any Catholic who goes to watch this movie.

Yes, her life was centered on Jesus and the Sacred Heart, not feminism. Good part-I’m reading her biography after seeing the film.

I would also add, that no one becomes a saint without the Rosary after St. Dominic received this gift from Mother Mary. There should be scenes of her praying the Rosary.

That's just a crazy statement, and it's the kind of thing that other Christians who aren't western Catholic find offensive.

@@jd3jefferson556 , after Mary gave the Rosary to St. Dominic, all the saints I have read about had a devotion to the Rosary. So, Yes, I stand by my statement.

Well said! It is so disappointing that film makers continue to impose the ideologies of today on the events of the past. It is completely disingenuous and creates a falsehood narrative. These films are made for one reason only to make money and coin it in and they do so by affirming the narrative that they think people want to hear. I was planning on seeing Cabrini in the cinema but now I won't bother!

I'm Catholic & respect your opinion about the movie CABRINI. I will still go watch the CABRINI & watch it as a inspirational movie because they do said that CABRINI is not a Catholic Faith based movie , it is more a Biopic film that's why those who are not Catholics or religious find the CABRINI movie a very inspiring & actually see the works of God through Mother Cabrini, I guess it depends on the individual who see this movie on how it impacts on their life.

It is a good movie in that the acting was great, the production and was high quality and it was a great story. I think you’ll enjoy it, I did on those terms. I was just commenting on the lack of Catholicity in it, which as a Catholic is my primary interest. Thanks very much for watching and commenting!

Pio movie does not do honor to such a great Saint. I started to see it, and I turned it off because it has nothing to do with Padre Pio. Cabrini is superb, the cinematography was out of this world.

Do you think good works are not a kind of prayer? Must people say prayer aloud to be heard? If Cabrini was meek and mild nothing would be done.

    • @thedomesticmonk772
      @thedomesticmonk772  7 месяцев назад

That’s one perspective, but I think it is quite a stretch. No one did more good works than Mother Theresa and she required her sisters to spend a minimum of 1 hour a day in prayer before the blessed sacrament. Prayer is central to our relationship with Jesus and to our faith. Scripture is full of references to Jesus himself going off to pray, they wouldn’t be there if it weren’t important. Scripture, the Church and the lives of the Saints all demand of us prayer and fasting. Let’s face it, prayer was completely lacking in this portrayal of St. Frances Cabrini. We can justify it anyway we want, but it was not present in the movie. Thanks for watching!

I appreciate your review. I did NOT see Pio b/c it was a film made by Satanic Hollywood and Satan HATES St. Padre Pio and will do everything in his limited powers to smear our dear Saint's reputation like he endured during his life.
Thank you for your heads up on Cabrini. I won't be seeing that film either. You are the second Catholic to review the film from a Catholic perspective and I don't like what I hear about this film either.
    I really despise secular films.
There is no way in hell that this saintly Mother superior didn't have an extremely disciplined prayer life. One does not have that kind of fervent care and love for souls especially children, without a structured prayer life. Modern films omit prayer lest it influence the viewer. Its an utter LIE.
She is NOT a saint because she is a "woman," but because her virtuous, maternal heart followed our Lord Jesus Christ, and she truly cared for poor souls out of pure charity.

Omg i was just thinking about these movies being brought together i have seen both movies .
I have 3 statues of Padre Pio in my home also a blanket . I have also was in St. Marys Church in Greenville, Ohio 11 yrs ago was not well losing weight i was sitting in the last pue then a woman in a Black veil walked past me and exited the church . I was looking for my rosery realized i left it in my car.
Then i turned around and looked behind me the woman waved me to the entry and showed me with her hand 5 and left i walked to a basket and a Green bag was in the basket i opened it and again the church door opened the black veil blew in i opened the bag 3 roserys and 2 gold large coin shaped with a man holding his jand up a jole in his hand i didn't know what these coin were. So i took them to the secretary Ann of the Priest she took the to t Father White he gave them back to her. She said Father Whote wantede to take them to Father Vincent where i live at in Versailles .
So i did he asked me where i received these metal coin s i told him everything i am telling you
He then fome back eith his Bible and he said i can only Bless these coins with a verse from the Roman because he said these are Medallions of Father Pio and were Blessed in Italy by the Pope an i was given them from the Virginary in the Black veil she was a admiration that sern i was very sick.
He was in disbelief at first but said this was a very Holy moment sn i should always where the Medallions to keep me well amd safe. Sunce then i have seen the Virgin Mary in a form with my boyfriend in his back yard a Yuka plant during a very strong storm .
Also yo heal me once again last year from my pain on my legs and whole body.
I believe in Padre Pio , the Virgim Mary and Cabrini i do not contradict the making of these films for i have my Beliefs and they have their version.
Im not a Judge or Credict im a Catholic that believes in Miracles

The Gospel was beautifully depicted through the witness of her life, she personified scripture through her actions more than words. The Catholic faith was subtle in this film, but it was very much present in her life through her actions. 🩷🙏🏼 I LOVED the Cabrini movie! The Cabrini Movie is a must see! As a Catholic woman I was highly inspired and would happily recommend it! 🩷👍🏼🎬- you should watch Lila Rose’s podcast episode on her review on the movie it’s beautiful ❤

I remember seeing a trailer for Cabrini. That one had Shania Twain's venal: "Man, I feel like a woman" playing in the background. No thanks. It smacks of trying hard to mimic 90s inspirational movies rather than a beautiful portrait of an incredible Catholic woman and saint.

Catholic all my 63 years and will always be. There are so many saints to know about! I loved Cabrini! Even though she was only before an altar once in the movie it didn’t make me think she wasn’t pious. She used the gifts God gave her to persevere for the poor. And what a difference she made. The writer of The NY Times aided in spreading the needs. It makes me want to learn more and invoke her intercession.

i had great hopes for Pio and was definitely disappointed.. the movie creator’s had zero idea obviously, of Padre’s life.. and after the s*x’d up scene, i disconnected.. and i agree Saint Padre Pio was absolutely so sacred, so deeply honorable and absolutely profound on so many levels.. both these movies smack loudly of directing and writing by people utterly clueless of true Christianity and these two saints..

Disagree on Cabrini. You make the point the film is more "I am woman hear me roar." You hear feminism. I heard "all things in Him who strengthens us," that is strong women, fighting evil with the power coming from the savior. Maybe you just weren't listening.

Cabrini put flesh on the admonition in the epistle of St James who demonstrated the faith the underlies works. Look at Cabrini as a skeptical American and you'll find a very positive portrayal of the power of faith to transform people and institutions.

I thought Cabrini was a great movie. Encourage people to watch it as you would any form of entertainment. I didn't get the militant fem vibe at all. Cabrini in this portrayl is fairly meek. She survived nearly drowning and being sick with TB. She only became forceful when pushed.

You neither---the movie was a disguised fem adventure with heavy immigration tones woven in.
By the way, I don't like wasps or agree the americas belong to the English-----however, the movie used an historical fact to further a present agenda.

The recent movie of Padre Pio was nothing about the Saint and more so about the socialist of that time.
The very xxx scene was way out of line and the use of the F word was the nail in the coffin that this movie was made to not honor the saint rather to make him look disturbed.
5% of the movie shows Padre Pio and 95% is about the rise of socialism. It honors more the socialist movement then the Saint.
My recommendation is the 2007 movie of Padre Pio.
It is about his life and nothing to do with the socialist party.
