She didn’t conquer America. She obeyed and did God’s Will. By the grace of God she accomplished what He call her to do. That’s what we believe as Catholics. It’s all for His Glory. There is no possibility to be confused with the feminist movement. Because everything we are, everything we do is by God’s grace.
That's not quite what Catholics believe. Catholics believe God gives grace but you exercise free will in accepting it. Everything you do is ultimately by your free will with God's grace, because by your free will you can reject God's grace at any time. Pure grace is Calvinism.
It's right to say she conquered U.S. ( a country with a majority of people being protestant) for Christ! Just like Spanish missionaires did in The Americas in the 16, 17,18 centuries. We cant take ANYMORE the garbage anti catholic - black legend from media.
I had the honor of watching a prescreening of the Cabrini film. 🎥 As a young Catholic woman, I believe this film is a beautiful masterpiece that depicts Mother Cabrini’s courage, hope, and strong faith in God all while exploring the themes of human dignity, Catholic social teaching, human free will, the gift of femininity, and the corporal works of mercy. Throughout the film, St. Frances Xavier Cabrini shows her dedication to upholding human dignity for all, especially the most vulnerable, the Italian immigrants of her time. Mother Cabrini was not only a champion for the dignity of the human person but also an exemplary figure of authenticity femininity and a role model for living out the corporal works of mercy. I would encourage all Catholics, especially Catholic women to go watch this film on March 8th, make it a “Catholic movie night out” with family and friends. 🍿 🎬 Let’s support more Catholic movies going mainstream in the box office and encouraging Alejandro Monteverde to make more amazing Catholic films for all.
Where was Jesus or Mary in the movie? The motivation of the Cabrini character was her overcoming drowning by her own will power. Where is the reliance on God?
Young Catholic women tend to be dyed in the wool feminists. My advice is for faithful young men to find a wonderful young protestant girl and convert her. Catholic women are, in the main, damaged goods from "Spirit" of the Vatican II. Sad but true. Orémus Y'all.
@@GreenKnight1979 - The "Cabrini character" as you call her, was rescued from drowning to death. This is in her official biography, this has been stated in Catholic Christian homilies, and this was shown to have happened in the 2024 film "Cabrini." She did not rescue herself, or overcome her near-drowning fears, by her own personal willpower. She needed to be rescued by someone else, and she ultimately was. That incident in her life, left her with a weakened, chronic condition, for the rest of her life her on earth, which she suffered with. All this, was also shown in the movie. And, she already had some health complications, because she was born two months too early, and this was years prior to her near-drowning accident in the water.
@@ChristianSaintSaviorher near death drowning experience was depicted multiple times in flashbacks while she encountered present difficulties. This was deliberately done to emphasize her strength of will. That would have been fine if the filmmakers had not omitted depicting her deep prayer life, which was her true source of strength. As a result, we're led to believe that any secular social worker could have done what Cabrini did, so long as they put their mind to it.
@@GreenKnight1979 - To be honest, that is actually a fair assessment. The film-makers really should have emphasized her Christian spiritual life, her Christian devotions & her prayer life, where she entrusted herself and her mission, more openly, and intentionally, to the care of Jesus Christ, who inspired her vocation & her mission, in the first place. Those key omissions from the film, become very apparent. Also, the film did not explicitly or overtly mention Cabrini's fear of water, which resulted after her drowning accident. She would have needed God's help in overcoming that fear, since she would have to have crossed the Atlantic Ocean (and other large bodies of water), several times, throughout her missionary lifetime.
Who cares what a Mormon thinks about a Catholic movie? Mormons, by default, hate the Catholic Church as they believe its an apostate church. This means Jesus started an apostate church.
Catholic women are perceived as subservient, submissive, obedient to their husbands...women. Mother Cabrini and incredible Catholic religious women, eg. Mother Angelica, changed the world. They are proof how powerful single, celibate, religious women were and are. Even Tim Poole has been praising this movie (we'll get him back to the Church eventually!!!!). He reaches a substantially diverse audience, which is good. If Mother Cabrini, Mother Angelica and Mother Teresa were here today....someone we know would be fighting them. I'd love to see that battle. Mother Cabrini, Mother Angelica, Mother Teresa, pray for us.
What kind of myth are you spinning? Since when are Catholic women seen the way you say. I believe that what you state is a falsehood. I wonder who you polled to come up with that
Aha! 6:17 I suspected that this film would turn into pro Italian & anti Irish propaganda 😒 Erin Go Bragh . Regardless - Happy Saint Joseph 's Day Italiano dudes & Happy Saint Patrick 's Day to my fellow Celtic Catholics ☘
I couldn't wait to see the movie!!!! I loved every minute of the movie. I don't go out to movie theaters much because most movie's are garbage in today's world. Because the mainstream media never mentioned anything about this movie is the reason I went to see it. Loved it!!!!
Saw the movie yesterday, and I loved it. As a guy that isn’t very religious, I found this film to be very inspiring. I saw the Shania Twain trailer after I had seen the movie, it feels odd to mix those two but I would much rather see this film succeed as story of an amazing woman. If Shania Twain helps bring people in to see it, great.
I saw the film. Very well produced! The film definitely focused more on what she accomplished and less on her spiritual life and how she really would have gotten strength from God (as we are all supposed to do) and not her self. I would have just liked to have seen her pray a little more. Other than that good in every way.
I also saw the "Cabrini" film, and I agree. It would have been better had they focused more on her prayer life, her Christian devotions, and so on. Or at least, if they had shown more of those aspects of her life as a Catholic Christian Mother of a religious Order. Otherwise, it is a well-produced & well-acted film.
One last bit adding to my comment below… if a man stands against whatever oppressive forces of his time, to follow his God and create a better life for the people suffering around him- is he to be seen as a ‘masculinist’. ?
I’ve met with the Catholic producers behind this film, and they mentioned they really want to appeal to a wide audience and help spread Cabrini’s message of love to not only a Catholic audience but also a mainstream audience and naming this movie Cabrini instead of “Saint Cabrini” or “Mother Cabrini” is not meant to disregard her saintly title but instead meant to amplify her message of love and compassion for the dignity of the human person to a wide audience, in fact I’ve met many people who are not Catholic, like Protestants, Mormons, atheist, and Evangelicals who absolutely LOVE this film and are leaving the movie theaters crying and feeling inspired by her witness. If anything we should be grateful that a good quality film made by a Catholic director is going mainstream and reaching a large audience in the box office. I think this is a winning opportunity for evangelization with non-Catholic audiences. It’s a great opportunity to build bridges with others who may not know the beautiful and inspiring stories of our Catholic saints. 😇 🙏🏼🎥🎬
No rosary. One mention of “God” - done in righteous anger, but NOT imparting the love of the Father. NO mention of Jesus Christ, His great power and grace, or the Eucharist- her great Consolation. No chapel; one brief “grace” before ONE meal. In short, this is “Catholic” feminist movie. Why did the Catholic Church declare her a saint? You wouldn’t know it from THIS movie!
Agreed. I wasn’t sure if Mother Cabrini was catholic after the film... considering Saints pray and well.... she didnt seem to. But if the idea of the film was just to show what she accomplished then i guess they did a good job.
Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini's accomplishments are shown throughout the film, and they do summarize all of them, at the end of the film. Should the film-makers have paid more attention to the Christian Spiritual, Mystical, and Devotional aspects of her life, as well as the miracle, which eventually elevated her to Sainthood status? Of course they should have, and I wish they did. As it stands, "Cabrini" is more about showing her struggles with starting and maintaining successful Christian Charities, in America, while trying to overcome numerous obstacles in her way. Also, I do believe there is at least one scene with her in a Catholic Chapel, when she returned to Italy.

Thanks mate - but i must ask -a woman not allowing men to stop her bringing get gift into the world is not necessarily “feminism “. Feminism is a whole ideology that has treated me so horrifically as a woman . This woman is a person who put her God before the bad attitudes of some men. Why must we align that with a political self-centred movement? (It might be a black man who stood up against white oppressiveness on him to do something he knew he was born to do; it might be a MAN who stood up against crushing types of women, to do what he felt was God’s calling. This woman, Cabrini, she went against make oppression to do something for EVERYONE- not focused upon herself. Going against the men who try to hold you down is not necessarily‘feminist’ . )Just a thought guys. I am glad at least that you separated her ‘feminism’ from the gender feminism. Thank you for the review (written by a 62 year old woman, who has suffered at the hands of the narcissism of ‘feminism’
Movies are sold on entertainment purposes only. Is a good movie or not.... People do not want to hear about left wing/right wing reviews in a movie. They simply want to know if the movie has a good script, good acting, good production, good directing, good sound or a good score with the music. They don't care if it is a feminist movie or not... Do you people not even understand how to review movies anymore.
I was also disappointed! Movie about the first American saint that does not mention God, or Jesus once in 2 hours of her life?! Not a single prayer, or trust in God!
I am not a critic of film. When I watched the trailers I was turned off. It portrays her as a bold, boisterous feminist disrespectful of her bishops. The bishops and those of leadership degrade her. It seems like the movie is a political move to pull in the hearts in support of the illegals entering our country. After watching a much older version of Mother Cabrini I felt reconnected to her truth in her ministry. St. Mother Cabrini pray for us!
To be fair, the "Cabrini" film does show her ultimately obeying the Pope, the Cardinal, & the Bishop. She even tells her sisters that she must submit to obedience, even when the situations seemed to be unfair, and she did. However, I do get what you are saying, about how the trailers & the film (which I have seen) seem to portray her as "feminist" & disrespectful to her superiors.
I just saw the Trailer on YT before watching your podcast becaue I wanted to see first hand and then I will add to my comments after watching your podcast. Couple of concerns. It sounds too focused on feminism and socialism rather than the holy acts of heorism of an American/Italian saint. For instance, did she actully say she could do what she did becaue she is a woman or is that a producer's addition? If it was the former then that would be disapointing coming from a saint of such a high caliber but then again, saints are not perfect either...they just become perfect by the grace of God just before they die. But if it is the latter then it makes me very suspicious as to the purpose of that production. What message is it really trying to convey? That depends on the producer's thinking right? So, if the producer focus is other than the spread of the Gospel of Love then I would think twice before watching it. It even gave me the impression of some anti Catholic Church tonality. Now let me hear what you have to say and then add, if necessary, to my comments on that upcoming film. PD Ok. After watching your podcast I would add the part where producers are adding characters that did not actually exist is further disapointing especially for someone like me who loves historical accuracy in a true story film. One thing is "artitic expression" or liberty , the other is to basically adulterate the historical facts by adding chracters for example or even omitting mention of other actual historical figures...makes me further supicious of at least political correctness or passivity on the part of the producer. The anti Catholic agenda might or might not be there, who knows, but I don't think I would be crazy about watching that film. That doesn't sound like The Passion of the Christ kind of Movie at all to be honest. I think I'll pass...but I'll watch it if I could rent it for free some day! 😁

St Cabrini's story chronicles Christ's triumph, not hers. She would be the first to tell us that.
