My husband drove for Spokane Transit for many years. Every work day he placed a picture of Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini beside him at his drivers seat asking her protection as he drove many miles each day. He had to drive the double buses sometimes downtown even. His driving record was excellent all those years until his retirement at 65.
Around 1982, a city bus driver in Spokane told me about Mount St. Michael's. I was 19 years old at the time. That's how I found out about the Mount, about the traditional Catholic religion, and about the errs of modern Catholic Church brought in by Vatican II. 😊
I just read your comment to my husband who was that city bus driver in 1982! He retired in 1998 from STA. I'm so very happy he helped. St. Michael pray for all of us!
Not Catholic but loved this! Thank you so much for sharing all this information about Mother Cabrini. I especially enjoyed hearing her writings. Blessings 🥰❤️🙌
Hi, my name is Teresa Boyd, my husband John and I share this account and I enjoy listening to the stories of the Saints and I would think the idea of reading Audiobooks on the Saints is a fabulous idea and I must say the lives of the Saints are edifying and bring glory to God! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year🌹
I really like the audio book idea Lisa especially if it could be used on a podcast format. As a Catholic convert, and the only Catholic in my family, having these beautifully told stories of our Saints is wonderful. They reinforce how rich the history of our Catholic Faith is.
Lisa for myself I love to read about the saints but you do make the stories so informative and inspiring. I have several adult children, besides myself ,who listen to the traditional sermons and love your quick takes! Great idea if you have time.
There are many excellent audio books on RUclips. If you do, please make chapters; sections on the RUclips video as it's very helpful to find your place and understand where you are in the book.
Curious: the movie does not show a single glimpse of Saint Cabrini´s devotion to Christ and constant prayer. It only shows her as a strong woman that faces adversity alone.
Thanks. We had a birth on her feast day last year... Was going to use Saverio as middle name for boy, of it was a boy, but we already had a name ready for the girl... And it turned out to be a girl. So now I'll lobby our girl chooses her for confirmation. :) How about the movie they made about her recently? The trailer made it look like a women's power flick. Sad if they hijack her story in order to serve some social justice agenda. Anybody else see that?
At 13:06 the podcast states that Mother Cabrini died while preparing gifts for 500 children. According to the comprehensive biographies, she had prepared the candy gifts on December 21st, the day before she died. Then on December 22nd, being extremely ill, she remained in bed all morning until around 11:30. She had not dressed, she unlocked the door, rang the bell, and died alone in her room. The authority for these facts are these books: "Too Small A World: by Theodore Maynard, "My Mission is the World" by Angela Martignoni, and "Francesca Cabrini, Without Scrip or Staff" by Lucille Papin Borden. The information in the podcast regarding her death is inaccurate and misleading.
If these details are inaccurate, I humbly apologize. It's very difficult to do the research -- especially on the more recent saints, given the dearth of traditional source available - and my lack of time to read entire biographies for every Quick Take. I appreciate being corrected if someone has access to better sources than I do -- and has studied these particular saints more deeply. There is a ridiculous amount of misinformation to wade through and discrepancies -- from book to book, from source to source -- (even old sources that have impramaturs!). I do try my best to get the most important facts accurate. I certainly hope St. Frances is understanding and knows that I tried. And hopefully the most important aspects of her life of Faith and good works came across adequately. I hope my missing the exact details of her last two days has not led anyone to think less of this wonderful saint.
Lisa you do a great job. Yes many sources. I read in a book many years ago and if I remember right she died sitting in her chair and yes she was alone. It doesn't matter she's in heaven now.Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini pray for all of us please and thank you!
I try to stick with books about the Saints that were published before 1960. I've found a lot of discrepancies in newer books on various Saints. One book will give the description one way, and another book on the same Saint will have it a bit different. Recently I read a book on St. Patrick written in the 80s or 90s where the author wrote the conversations St. Patrick had with the men in a monastery, and as far as I know this was not documented so the author couldn't possibly know. From my understanding about St. Francis Cabrini is she fell asleep in a chair in her room and died peacefully, and she died alone.

Though I was away from the Mount for years by the Grace of God I've been back for the last 10 years. God bless you. ~Isabella~

Thank you, it is good to learn more about this very beautiful Saint.
There's an old movie on RUclips called Citizen Saint that is about St. Francis Cabrini. It's really good...and it's free. 😊
