  • In this film we look at how easy it is to use a 2 berth camper van when it is full of 2 people and 2 retired racing greyhounds. Plus a brief look at how we got to our current camping set-up.

Do you like the autosleeper and have you had any problems with it ?

Hello Mark. Thanks for watching the film, apologies for taking so long to reply but we were away in the van and didn’t have a reliable signal. We do very much like the Autosleeper, the size and layout suits our needs very well. I don’t think it’s as well made as our previous Hymer vans, but to be fair they do sit at a higher price point. It’s not been all plain sailing with the van, biggest issue was as faulty heater (fixed under warranty) and a couple of other minor niggles. I have actually put a film together of what’s gone wrong with the van, inspired by your question, and that should be on the channel in the next day or so.

Love that expression "Emptying the dogs." I might have to steal that for my black Labrador Tilly.

Must confess I stole it from Sarah Millican after I heard her use it a few years ago . Thanks for watching the film!

Fantastic video very informative, we have a AS broadway mhome and also travel with two dogs. The downside to our van is having to make up the bed from the twin facing settees however the big plus point is the across the rear of the van bathroom. Could you maybe do a vlog on using the bathroom facilities, e.g. space for showering , does the 69 litre fresh water tank prove a problem etc.. I really like the idea of a fixed bed but am loathed to give up on my separate shower and large 102 litre fresh water tank of the broadway eb.. I can't go any longer than 6.5 metres in length and do like the AS brand hence my interest in the Kingham. Thanks again for your excellent videos.. kind regards Dave.

Thanks Dave for taking the time to watch the video and your kind comment. I’ll put together a video re the bathroom, water capacity and a couple of other areas that others have asked about, although it might take me a few weeks to do it. Best regards Wolfie

Very interesting thank you. I have a tiny Autosleeper Harmony and go camping with my 2 dogs. I have less space than you, but there is only 1 of me!!

Thanks for the kind comment. I would think it’s much more challenging being a solo traveler dealing with the dogs. We would definitely need to rethink how we do things! Happy travels with the hounds

Oh my, I'm really interested in motorhomes etc, and just found this channel and have shown the wife with utter excitement this video, as we also have a greyhound, and wasn't too sure on how and if the space would work. Thanks for the great video, was really entertaining.

Thanks Graham for the kind words and taking the time to watch the video. We have learned that layout is key to success and for us, the current van is the best compromise we’ve come across. Did you know there is a Facebook group called Camping and Caravanning with Greyhounds and Sight Hounds? Lots of help over there, and a few meets too - you might find that an interesting group to join

Great video - very informative. How do you travel with the two dogs though? Are they on the floor (safe enough) or do they wander about and clamber on the beds?

Thanks very much for watching and taking the time to comment. I am glad you liked the film. I deliberately didn't film "how we travel" as there are so many interpretations of what is right or wrong, but I can confirm that the dogs stay on the floor when we travel. We roll the duvet up along the edge of the bed to form a barrier which seems to do the trick. On the settee we lay the back down and put the end and scatter cushions on the seat so again there isn't really anywhere for them to go. We also use the word "Travel" and the dogs seem to understand that this means they stay on the floor, and they don't try to get on the bed and settee. Hope this helps!

Hello Rocky Roo. Thanks for watching the film and posting your question. I’ve just been out to check the vans trip computer and the stats it shows are: 33.6 mpg over the last 5,657 miles at average speed of 36 mph. Our last trip was around Wales, so mostly not on motorways and the trip computer shows 31.3 mpg over the trip distance of 739 miles, average speed 32 mph. I hope this info is of some help to you, best regards Wolfie
