What are the most common character archetypes you find in anime?
Not in anime but in manga, which is the relentless warrior full of hate, who evolves throughout the plot and practically becomes the Buddha.
Then I put Vagabond, Berserk, Vinland Saga, maybe from Samurai X anime, it's a nice archetype, but I would like the characters not to become Buddha.

tip: when designing characters, search up analog schemes. for example im designing a character named max. max is supposed to be aggressive. do I color max completely red? no I search up analog schemes and add color at the other side of the spectrum that way max will look more appealing tl;dr use color schemes and choose a color at the other end of the spectrum
The bubbly, air headed, clumsy girl with no character development or the damsel in distress that always rely on the male mc to save them… They’re the worst!!! 😫😫😫

I personally think Ruby portrays the loud, explosive character/personality trait perfectly and there’s so much in his character (like his past and motives) that makes him unique
There’s nothing wrong with taken something familiar in genre or archetypes as long as you go your own direction and make something new of it.

I brought up this comparison on your last vid… Folks act like if your OC has a similar archetype to a more popular character then it’s a automatic ripoff of said popular character… and the fact that the one’s making those comparisons don’t know that Ruby came before Bakugo makes it that much worse, but we OG fans already knew that! Hey it's so annoying to deal with that. The comic I'm trying to develop keeps getting pushed back because I keep seeing things come out that I have to take out of my story just to avoid this. Seeing the fact that you are dealing with this even at this stage means that I'll never get away from it. So I may as well just start going back to the things I took out.. and just keep it original in that regard. This helped even tho I was looking for archetype breakdowns but I like this disclaimer too. Lets me know I need to just let go and move forward regardless of similarities. Thanks again

It’s so funny that you made this video. I’m glad I’m not the only one that made the mistake of saying Ruby was a Bakugou copy. I quickly realized that there are tons of characters with the same archetype.

This is the thing I'm having the most difficulty with
Personally what I don't like about archetypes is that they made the character like that(any specific archetypes) because it needs to be rather than developing the character naturally so it feels natural that the character is like that.
My favorite type of male anime character is the one's who are shy, slight high pitched voice, I find it extremely cute and adorable!
Second is the rude one because sometimes I'm rude myself I distance myself from others due to the lack of confidence I have.
Third one is the fun type who almost acts like a psycho and harms those who hurt their loved ones. This gives me an idea of have my side characters in my future manga: I have ocs that are triplets: one rude for a reason, psycho and protective, and shy and quiet. My protagonist is me if I were out of my comfort zone by a lot. I have many other side characters that are the parents of the side characters and main characters. Im still planning out, my plot of my future manga! When I'm older I'm hoping to read your manga someday, thank you for uploading!
I don't know if I like these archetypes so much nowadays.
Im okay with them being rivals, or villains but mains I can't stand.
Man don't worry about it, you're character designs are great, but most importantly they are unique

Kneepads, elbow pads, shoulder pads, etc have been around since roller skating started getting popular. They became a thing in comics in the 80s, if not earlier. ^_^

Edit: There is absolutely nothing wrong portraying similar archetypes/tropes. It's all about how it's built upon and shapes into it's own thing. I love Ruby. But not because he's a Bakugo clone. But because he is his OWN hot head.❤🙏

My favorite character trope pops up a lot in anime and manga (I don’t find it frustrating or overused, I find it comforting!) it’s the stoic character with a bad past who has a heart of gold 💕

Bakugou isn't the only one that exists with this kind of personality or looks. for example in kemono jihen shiki.

This is a thing happening not in just anime or manga but in everything since the beginning of time! Like people inventing bow and arrow in areas that are thousands of miles apart in the same time period!😅 so flash forward today, there are 8 billion people on this planet & there is a humungous possibility for people to have the same exact idea without knowing that there were/ are others who has or had that same thing going on in their minds too!

I need to watch MHA. I’ve always avoided it because the fan base has always, uh, for the lack of a better term, weirded me out. Recently though Ive had a lot of ppl telling me that it’s getting really good so idk
Pleasee watch it, My Hero Academia has one of the best, if not THE best character designs in all of anime of all time EVER. I know people online make it super weird and it gives a bad impression, but trust me when I say this anime is one of a kind. My Hero Academia is and always will be my greatest Inspiration when it comes to character design. And it just has such a unique concept, a concept that has been done in my other most favorite medias of all time but with its own take and quirkiness on it.
It's okay if you're still hesitant to watch it, I get it. I just hope you do! :)

Bakugo kinda personifies the stereotype, so yeah, you could say just about any character with these traits is like Bakugo.

But seriously if we're going by superficial comparisons then you could also compare him to Itsuki, the MC from Air Gear. Considering the timeline, Air Gear started publishing in 2002 and ended in 2012 so it would be a much easier comparison for people to make. Again it's superficial, but so is the Bakugo comparison. If I really wanted to stoke the flames i could say that Ruby gets his character development WAAAAY earlier, which is technically true.
Can't say I'm the biggest fan of the Archetype but I enjoyed the portrayal of Ruby in the story thus far.

Sorta, Ruby’s is less fire and more red like volatile energy. In fact, his ability is more like Momo’ sir green lanterns but red lol he just sucks at making stuff so it explodes and he uses that to his advantage until he learns to control it, if ever.
These are just ignorant fan that can't stand someone making a similar character to their favorite character.

honestly I might get hate for this but I don't like the quiet over confident characters. Like if you think you're better than me, let me know. But I get comments like this on stuff ALL the time. I guess people just can't understand characters have similarities like real people too.

That's possible, ultimately they are far more different, especially in their character development and arc. Naomi's role is far more mysterious on purpose.
