I would say so. Apparently GB also might exist in the same world as the 1980s Beauty and the Beast TV show; in the novelization by Barbara Hambly she says "Across the street, in what looked like a converted fire station, someone was overhauling a disreputable Cadillac ambulance."
I've also heard fan theories that Ghostbusters and Back to the Future are connected. They say Egon and Doc Brown know each other and they worked together to acquire the plutonium from the terrorists to create their inventions. I wouldn't say it's "cannon", but it's a fun idea!
I consider Casper cannon to the same universe as Ghostbusters strictly based on the background story of Ghostbusters Afterlife when Egon took most if not all the ghosttraps and wasn't at the firehouse to fix the old equipment left behind as he was at the dirt farm.
I have another idea how Casper and Ghostbusters connect. Remember the secret lab underneath the Manor, it's highly unlikely Casper's dad would have the time to hollow out a cave and build a resurrection machine without much detection unless he had help from a man by the name Ivo Shandor who had a mine in Somerville in Ghostbusters afterlife. In the first Ghostbusters, Shandor was making a superconductive attena design to pull turbulence creative a doorway for Zuul. During that time Casper had just passed so it was possible for Casper's dad to meet with Ivo Shandor ( who was also a doctor performed unlicensed surgeries) during that time Ivo discovered the base of Whipstaff was a large chunk of selenium the same material used in the construction of the Zuul temple in New York. So it was a win win situation for both of them Ivo gets his materials from Casper's dad and in turn he has a secret laboratory to build the Lazarus. But then Casper's dad was committed to an insane asylum and Ivo started his secret society worshipping zuul.
When I was a kid, my father would buy cheap tapes of random public domain cartoons for my sister and I during weekend visitations and several tapes had old Casper cartoons on them. I remember those the best because of how good they were.
Given Ray says that the Ghostbusters did break up so I would like to think that for a short while after this Ray tried going it alone and busting ghosts by himself.. Which did not work out as we see in Casper.
I consider the 2016 reboot of Ghostbusters as an in-universe movie, where The Real Ghostbusters take brief cameos in the film, as a cash grab, post Ghostbusters 2, which is why they have different names and backgrounds (similar to an episode in the cartoon where they attend the original movies premiere). In addition, I think that both Filmation Ghostbusters shows take place inside the Containment Unit! I also never understood why the Men in Black cartoon and the cartoons for the Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters aren’t in the same universe, with crossover episodes, because they are all owned by Colombia/Sony.
I could honestly see it being cannon it fits almost perfectly into the timeline between GB the video game and GB Afterlife. Plus nothing in Afterlife or Frozen Empire contradicts it especially with the backstory given by Ray in Afterlife.
Actress Mckenna Grace said did not consider her relationship with Melody to be romantic. She saw it as a friendship after feeling isolated from the Ghostbusters group due to her age. She also said if people wanna read that into, she doesn't begrudge them. But she did not see it that way.
Considering I was never able to recognize Dan in Casper (most likely because of the mustache) I never saw his appearance as canon. Just merely a spoof gag.
They are also canon in Scooby Doo. In the 80s, they made a Scooby Doo Meets The Boo Brothers. That's an animated movie I want to see. Scooby-Gang Meets GBs Meet Casper & Co..
So.. wait. If they used the Lazarus to bring Dr. Harvey back to life, does that mean there's a dead Dr. Harvey shell out there at the bottom of a cliff? Would he have duplicate clothes, duplicate ID? If someone found his previous corpse and reported him deceased, and he showed up in public as alive and well, what would the consequences be? Also is it possible that there's a loose tie-in to The Sixth Sense considering Casper is taking to Kat in her sleep, and that's how Cole tells Malcom that he can communicate with his wife? I know that's a Stretch (lol Casper joke) but now I'm curious if there are other tie-ins to other ghost media.
Yo Bro, What's Up with The Chief at the Start of your Vid?!? I like it, don't ever cut it. Its awesome to bring that back👊 I love it when folks Rep NativeZ in thier work, it shows The NativeZ are Still Here👊 Thank You🙏 ps: back to the Flick of choice. I always thought it was kool to have Ghostbusters in the Same Universe as Casper. Oh yeah "Crypt Keeper" too... I love the soundtrack to Casper it made the movie Unforgetable & the movie gave me a sense of relatability because of the lost we feel and sometimes wanting them back... ps again: I always Loved Baseball Go Cubs🐻⚾️ Cubbies
4:35 The Harvey Comics jack-in-the-box mascot, the Joker, is kind of interesting in itself. For the most part he was just that, a mascot used to promote the comics and animated shorts based on them. You can count on one hand the number of times he appeared as an active character, including in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", but it was always just a brief cameo. I guess the Joker was never meant to be a star.
Yes Casper and Ghostbusters are in the same cinematic continuity universe. You watch Ghostbusters afterlife they kind of back that up LOL. They talk about business winding down and they kept the business going for several years doing small calls and then Egon left
Actually, I'm surprised Ray didn't just stay in Maine, we've got all kinds of weird and spooky things up here! I'm pretty sure the building I live in is haunted by at least one of the girls who worked here when it was a factory in the 1800s.
It just dawned on me that Casper’s dad should have been haunting the manor since he never finished his business of resurrecting Casper. Also everyone involved with Frozen Empire: the actresses, director and writer all confirmed Phoebe and Melody did not have a romance. They’re just friends.
This reminds me of William Sadler's character from Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Death, appearing in the Tales from the Crypt episode "The Assassin." The show had to get permission and give credit just as Casper did for the GB related material. This means Casper, Crypt, B&T, and Ghostbusters are ALL canon! I'm not one for head canon but Ray's cameo in Casper feels like a cheap joke. I cannot imagine the Ghostbusters being unable to deal with ghosts dumber than Slimer.
I like to think Ghostbusters, Casper, Beetlejuice and Scrooged are all the same universe(yeah i know Bill is in Scrooged too, but that movie has a very similar feel, visually as Ghostbusters).
@@raymicheals4127 Its just a fun thought misery, liven up. I know they are not the same universe, duh. I was just saying i like to think they are. No sense of humor anymore.
@olliesmith2890 no I was asking a question because the two movies had different depictions of the afterlife and it's highly unlikely to see Beetlejuice and Casper interact maybe if they were both the cartoon shows maybe but why not throw Danny phantom in there too
@@raymicheals4127 Beetlejuice fitting with Ghostbusters would always be just as interesting of a topic since they've had a long history of crossovers at Universal Orlando.
While I think the Ghost Busters did exist in universe of the Casper movie as evidenced by The most direct simple answer is yes. Ray Stantz, a Ghost Buster, was in the movie. Therefore Casper and Ghost Busters share a universe. Granted that’s an assumption. I can think of at least 2 reasons why this isn’t the ultimate true answer. But as I said, it’s the simplest.
I would say so. Apparently GB also might exist in the same world as the 1980s Beauty and the Beast TV show; in the novelization by Barbara Hambly she says "Across the street, in what looked like a converted fire station, someone was overhauling a disreputable Cadillac ambulance."
Ghostbusters wrought havoc with the possibility of a " Ghost " franchise.
I've also heard fan theories that Ghostbusters and Back to the Future are connected. They say Egon and Doc Brown know each other and they worked together to acquire the plutonium from the terrorists to create their inventions. I wouldn't say it's "cannon", but it's a fun idea!
but then it's canon that a vacuum is all it takes to defeat a ghost and proton packs are useless. I prefer it not being canon for that reason
@@skandto A connection serves no REAL purpose here.

God, the Casper cartoon based off the movie by Amblin was SO good too. Anybody else remember it?
I remember the Ghostly Trio simping for Casper's teacher Miss Banshee.
There's one episode I'm trying to find in English, but so far, no luck.

Nobody ever talks about the episode in Foster Home For Imaginary Friends and literally there was a whole "who you gonna call" gag. 😂
YES. CASPER IS LISTED IN THE MAGNOLI TOBIN'S SPIRIT GUIDE.
A non-canon, fan-made guide doesn’t make Casper canon.
Not only are Ghostbusters and Casper canon, it's them and Honey Bear Books' GB2 coloring book, which featured a mustachioed Ray.
Actress Mckenna Grace said did not consider her relationship with Melody to be romantic. She saw it as a friendship after feeling isolated from the Ghostbusters group due to her age. She also said if people wanna read that into, she doesn't begrudge them. But she did not see it that way.
Awesome video! I was ready for a mention of "Victor the Happy Ghost" episode of Real Ghostbusters in there!

It's a yes. The Ghostbusters logo looks suspiciously like Stretch, and Ray Stantz made an appearance in the 1995 movie
Ghostbusters playing Staying Alive is genius

👍👍
Obviously the Ghost Buster’s in this movie were frauds that didn’t really believe in Ghosts and only got the Job because the pay was good.
