On my Gen 2 GTS, I've got Striker heads + cam, lightweight flywheel, Edelbrock headers, hi-flow cats, Corsa cat-back, 5-point belts, ACR oil filter adapter, 3 quart Accusump, Penske tripple-adjustable shocks, Spec clutch, SSR rims. Next up, 4 wheel StopTechs. Got about 600 rwhp, about 700 crank. All motor!
It took balls to even make this car 30+ years ago. Think about what Dodge was producing when this monster was first unleashed. The Gen5 ACR was a great exclamation point to put on one hell of a wild ride. Part of me is glad it's been retired. Like Bigfoot, these things are rarely seen which adds to their mystique.

It was a side airbag requirement that would have forced them to completely redesign and retool the Viper, which they did not have the monetary capacity to do. Anyone buying a race car for the street realizes the risk and knows it's absurd to require side airbags. But it's not like the government ever needs requirements or logic to pass regulations under the radar.

There has always been something about a Viper that I have liked better than a Corvette. It's a shame that more people don't prefer it.

So where's the Hellcat option? I mean come on, more power than this Viper race car, available in a damn family sedan. How does that even make sense?
Because the Hellcat cat is a sledgehammer that is meant to do burnouts and accelerate fast the Viper is a samurai sword in comparison a car truly designed for taking a corer. Also power isn't everything a Viper will beat a Hellcat in a drag race assuming the driver is competent.

97jag440 I was being facetious. I don't actually think the Viper should have a Hellcat option. I was just lamenting the fact that a family sedan from the same brand is available with more power than this car. Not a real comparison, just numbers on paper obviously.
