- For nearly 200 years, generations of youngsters have sung the alphabet song the same way. Now, the internet is divided after a new version of the classic song was revealed. Even the new version's ending is different. Now, the new alphabet song is igniting a firestorm. Inside Edition's Victoria Recano went to Good Shepherd Catholic School in Beverly Hills, where the kids sang the new version for us.

That's a good attitude! The elemenopee version would reallyyyy help you memorise the alphabets veryyy well. So, the next generation is doomed with this new version.

Elemenopee wasn't even that bad lol, most people weren't confused and when they were it wasn't a lasting effect.
If the point of the alphabet song is to teach and learn the individual letters that comprise the alphabet then the old song did a terrible job of it. It's only emotion and tradition that is going to drive people to want to keep the old song. But those aren't very good reasons compared to actual educational ones.
@@Nathan-ht9scnot really, most teachers I knew or my friends knew would just sing the song slower when someone’s first learning it. If u slow down the song u can hear every letter, which is what u should do when someone is first learning the song anyways. And if someone really wants to make each letter clear I just hold up flashcards or a PowerPoint with each letter while u sing it

@@Nathan-ht9sc Good point point about the tradition thing. I just think it's a little bit of an unnecessary change because it didn't seem like a huge issue to myself or anyone I knew.

Would you want a 3 year old child to read or listen and follow a cooking recipe that was clear and easily understood or one that had typos in it? That's the difference that we're talking about. The old one made it possible to have confusion around LMNOP and Y&Z. The new alphabet song is a rewritten cooking recipe: 'A-B-C-D-E-F-G, H-I-J-K-L-M-N, O-P-Q, R-S-T, U-V-W, X-Y-Z, Now I never will forget, how to say the alphabet.'

Eliminating the “LMNOP” line eliminates the “and” between Y and Z. I’m sticking with the original alphabet song. Don’t even think about changing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and “Baa Baa Black Sheep.”

My first language is not even English but even I learned the English alphabet with the elemenopee song and if we who were leaning it as our second language could learn it perfectly in few days in 3rd grade I don't see why kids in the US would have a hard time with it.

Huh they just saying it slower….. letting them pronounce it more fluently, but even so no one sings that song after kindergarten so they good.
I swear I remember my kindergarten teacher back in 2010 saying something like "the way we sing the alphabet song is bad" and teaching us to sing it in this exact way. It's nothing new.
I thought they were talking about an entire new melody, but as a musician this is disappointing. That faster part is helpful for early childhood rhythm development

My niece had a stuffed pooh bear that sang the alphabet song to the winnie the pooh theme. Definitely better than the og and this crappy new version.
I'm part of the LMNOP generation and they eventually corrected us when we got older. So for this new version.....I guess so lol

This is why social media is bad. We worry about the wrong things in this country.
The only difficult part of the alphabet song is lmnop. It adds into it something difficult for children to accomlpish at a young age. Life is hard, that small example of conquering a difficult task at a young age has more benefit than not.

I’m a retired elementary schoolteacher. I wholeheartedly approve of the new version because it’s better for the children and they’re learning.
We all know the alphabet, the alphabet song was just fine. They're softening kids up for a tough world, stop making changes that were never called for.
