  • Days after Valentine's Day 1974, Carla Walker was kidnapped, raped and murdered just miles from her Fort Worth, Texas, home. The teenager's case went cold for decades but her family never gave up fighting to solve it. Then in 2020, her killer was caught using advanced DNA technology. Now, a bipartisan bill is being named in her honor that can give federal money for DNA research in cold cases like hers and solve the crimes that have kept other families of victims waiting. Carla's brother, Jim, along with politicians and DNA experts speak to Inside Edition Digital as to why all Americans should get behind this act.

    My heart breaks for this man, his family and Rodney. Knowing he went straight to Carla’s house to get her dad instead of his own home after such a traumatic situation shows how close he was to not only Carla but her family. Everything was taken from Carla but his whole world was shattered and taken away as well along with her family. Her brother is truly amazing as well.I know Carla has been looking down over him so proud of what he’s done for her and for so many others. He took his pain and turned it into purpose not only to solve his sisters case but to help as many other families as he possibly can.

      Why would he go get his dad? Of course he was going to get CARLA’s Dad, that was HER dad afterall. You all see one little video and assume so much about people. You have no clue how close or supportive his family may have been for him. But in this scenario, it would have made no sense to drive to his own home when he knew Carla’s family was probably wondering where she was.

    I have had some property destroyed of relatives passed away and I have been so angry.
    This man lost his sister had to bury his parents without them knowing what happened to their daughter. The perp spent two years in prison and this man says God is good because he can see the good this will do. How it will save other families from the same fate.
    What a fantastic human he is. I am going to try to be more like him.
    He has more to be bitter about than me and he has the best possible mindset.

    A good family friend was murdered in her home, in Bailey, CO, on 12/1/2017. She would have turned 18 on 12/17/17. Local law enforcement says that she walked in on a burglary in her home. Local law enforcement was also very tight lipped about this case. I believe that partial DNA was at the scene. If you can research the DNA, it would be awesome. This child's name was Maggie Long. She was a wonderful person. 💛

    I was scrolling by and was shocked to see a picture of myself on the thumbnail. No, it wasn't me but if you wondered what girls looked like in the 70's this is the model. We all had round faces, long hair parted down the middle, and a lot of us had blonde hair. I could have so easily been her. We didn't know ugly things could befall us back then. Bless her and her family!

      I can relate to that feeling too when looking at Carla's photograph. Imagine being only a twelve year old at the time while wishing you could go along with your dad to help look for your missing sister too. During the 1970's to take out a marriage license you had to first get a blood test done. Now I know why it was being done back then and also too maybe why the results of a blood test first isn't required to obtain a marriage license anymore too. Isn't it about time we come up with another slightly different kind of monastic rule for North America now too?

    • @Lucinda_Jackson
      @Lucinda_Jackson 5 месяцев назад +7

      This was my exact reaction, too! It's even how I often wore my hair. We were the same age (actually I would have been 1 year older) and it stopped me in my tracks, as well, to see a girl who looked like me and all of my friends. Movies and TV get it wrong so often.

I know that doesn’t make me right but this is fact. and I’m not saying these people loved there daughter, sister, girlfriend any less than I love mine at all.
