@@ezekielspates5677 wallace was better than both although obviously Russell is the best defender. If we talking about since the merger tho I'd say either wallace or KG is the best
These guys took out my Bucks in 2004, and I became a fan and rooted for them when they took out LA in 5 games. The world was shocked, I wasn't. That Pistons team just had complete control of the game through their defense. An on offense they were on the same page. That team was like a living organism, always communicating always in sync. It was scary lol.
mmafan2223 I don’t have a favorite NBA franchise but that ‘04 Pistons squad is my all time favorite team. I’ve never seen an actual TEAM that was that in sync and could shut anyone down with no huge superstars on the roster.
People who think Hakeem, Duncan, Rodman or Robinson were on Ben Wallaces level on D, didn't watch him enough. He was on a different level. I want to someday see compilations of games he took over the 4th quarter. I don't think people truly understand his defense. It was no different than MJ doing it on offense. He truly had the same impact. It's as if he was everywhere, making play after play. Opponents could not score. Only Pistons fans during that period truly got to see it. His most dominant stuff was 2001-2004, I think that's why people don't get how good he was. He took a team largely led by Chucky Atkins and Stackhouse to the 2nd round of the playoffs guys. That's all I need to say.
It's different man. It's like when you try to score but you can't because the defense is so damn tough. You don't have to get your shot blocked to miss.
I think what Tayshaun Prince said was perfectly said. When you have nothing, & you grow up & become somebody, the way you play shows the way you were raised. I grew up a Laker fan too. I hated the Pistons as a kid, but as I grew up, I respected the hell out of Ben Wallace. Being 6’9 260 some pounds, guarding a center who’s arguing one of, if not the greatest centers ever that’s 7’1 300+ pounds & locking him up. Not every one can do that. Much respect to Big Ben. Definitely a Hall of Fame player.
If Wallace could have played with the Bad Boy Pistons of the 80's and early 90's; along with Thomas, Dumars and Aguirre, they would have won the championship for a smooth decade in a row..
haha, its rip!! right before the dress code,Big ben, thank you very much for the inspiration to everybody.i bought your jersey since 2004 when you get into finals, i understands, that not being drafted or not scorer, but maan its hard to put it in words, you are a true definition of hard work period, congratulations.and may all you have the success in your next level of your life,.i always remember that, famous block that you did,to shaqECF 06.game5,and shaq dont want to admit it.Thanks again Big Ben.
G Clarke that was the best team defense of all time sure you can argue the 85 bears and the 00 ravens but this team made a habit of holding opponents under 70 points
If Ben doesn't make it to he Hall of Fame there shouldn't be one. He really was the heart and soul of those great Pistons teams. I'm just glad I was able to watch virtually every 'Stons game from '01-06.
Being from Detroit... thinking back to the glory days of our 04 pistons is just sad man... I wish we took the Spurs route and kept the same core around smh
DICK LONG lmaooo! True shit, Big Ben would’ve humbled his ass and to be honest, I believe Melo would have turned out to be a two-way superstar if he got drafted by the Pistons, not just a scoring machine. Forever hurt thinking about that draft.
Tej S easily. They really should have gotten 2 regardless but a close game 7 loss to the Spurs happened and even though they lost, I’m glad it was against Pop and his hall of fame Spurs in their primes. They didn’t lose to no scrubs and it went down to the wire. With Melo though, oh man that’s one of the biggest what if’s in NBA history. I can honestly say 3-4 rings guaranteed comes to mind thinking about that
George Blaha is a legend in the state of Michigan. We must cherish and protect this man. Also, he and Greg Kelser make such a great pair of play by play and analyst. I cannot think of the Pistons without thinking of those two calling a game.
It was a pleasure watching the 2000's Pistons. One of the toughest squads in basketball history. whether they were going against the Lakers, Spurs, etc, you could never count those guys out up till the very end. The best evenly distributed team-oriented basketball since the 60's Celtics.
I'm Lakers fan but appreciated who Big Ben and piston were to the NBA. Also who here remember the announcer for the piston back then. Miss that shit for real. Ba Ba Ba Ben Wallace! Ba Ba Ba Billups! Thats shit was dope!
It's kinda weird we had the top 2 defenders and rebound guys within the same franchise. Of course I talk about Ben Wallace and Dennis rodman. Long live bad boys 1&2!!!
Ben Wallace was a beast on the glass and defensively. I wonder how scouts missed those obvious abilities in his game???? They must’ve thought scoring is everything.
Ben Wallace is the only player in NBA history that had the ability to control a game by rebounding, shot blocking and controlling the paint. There were lots of great defenders but Ben Wallace was one who can control the paint area when he got into a zone he would control that paint. That's why they won a championship. That 03 04 Pistons team changed the game the NBA changed the rules after they won. That team should have won more championships but Larry Brown left after they won in 03 04.

true
What about rodman? I'd say it's a coin toss between those 2
I'd say Hakeem Olajuwon or Dikembe Mutombo

You nailed your analysis right there my brother.....period
I remember teams finishing a game with 70 points. you weren't lying when you said they couldn't score
sam madison best defensive player in nba history

Ben is literally the SCARIEST DEFENDER ever... He didn't need any offense he was the best defender during his time
one of the most beloved NBA strong man
Ben Wallace is like Dennis Rodman with no humor on defence.
Yeah but Rodman was smaller in frame and not a shot blocker

better than rodman defensively. the anchor of the best defence in the last 15 years. underrated. HOF in my book. a pleasure to watch.

G Clarke no one was better at the dirty work than Rodman. I watched both play.
I loved Ben, but he was not better than Rodman for sure.
According to advanced statistics, Rodman isn't near as good defensively as Wallace.
2 different type of defenders
underrated for sure. hall of famer in my opinion

A little bit of foreshadowing there with Van Gundy talking about " Pistons Basketball" lol
Ameen Moqbel fuck van gundy. We need a new coach. He's wasting our future's prime by not letting them play
