    Another very interesting video, thanks Iain! Never fails to amaze me how hard the fish can hit the fly, nearly drag the rod out of your hand, and then just let go..... Bugger it!!

      Hi Simon Its not clear on the video but there are some metal steps go into the water and the fish was heading for them and I think I pulled the fly out of its mouth while trying to make it change direction.... There was some strong language when I turned the camera off. Cheers Iain

    Nice to see ya on the Spey Iain!!
    I'm over with clients on Macallan as usual in early Sept....Then onto the Ness at Ness side and finishing up on Monaltrie and Lower Invercauld on the Dee …. seems to be more fush about this year than others!!!

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Maurice. They say that variety is the spice of life and you seem to have it all rapped up. as you also say there are more fush about or fash the further North you go but they seem to be a bit harder to hook or keep a hold of. I hope things go well for your trips . tight lines Iain

    That looked like a good fish you had on....I thought it was going to be your day for once! Really interesting tour of the hatchery..they do a good job...one thing for sure you ended up in a good place but I thought it might have been a wee dram or the red!!.. tight lines my friend...

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  5 лет назад

      Hi Mr Mazo. I am sure it was a big fish I had a lot of pressure on it . But I still count it as a good day or two , who would do anything else . The Hatchery do a great job and I was glad that I managed to get a visit , it helped pass the time while the river dropped a bit. as for the wee dram it was out of range . I cant let Frances see that I enjoy myself to much while I am away. Cheers Iain
      PS I had a visit to another hatchery earlier this year and made a 20 min video and then I was asked not to release it..... Its a shame as I thought it was a good one and showed off the great work that they do

      Hi David it was my own fault the fish fell off . I pulled to hard on it as it was heading for steps leading into the water . but I had a great couple of days.. I also had 2 sea trout on but being old and forgetful I never had the camera switched on. Cheers Iain

    I thought I was the only one struggling for a long slow pull this year......I really enjoy the videos... if your ever my way give me a shout...river Blackwater .

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  5 лет назад +1

      Hi again Padraig Thanks very much for your offer . its always good to have local knowledge when fishing somewhere different . I have fished some of your beautiful rivers before but never the Blackwater. Alas I will have to decline as Frances does not keep the best of health and when we travel from Edinburgh to the North of Scotland we have to stop off for a couple of days on the way there and back. Part of her condition would not suit travel on a plane or ferry . there is plenty of time for that long slow pull and maybe a few short sharp tugs as well before the end of the season...... Thanks again and tight lines . Cheers Iain

    Hi Iain, interesting to see the Hatchery, do the Government subsidise this in any way, or is it totally run privately.
    Glad to see you hook into a fish, looked like a good one, but sadly that one got away.
    Keep trying to drown your flies, enjoy and keep the videos coming.

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  5 лет назад

      HI Paul when Westminster had control hatchery's were subsidised . When power was devolved the Scottish government decided that salmon fishing was a rich mans sport and they would not fund them . some are private funding and others are funded by fishery boards.. . as long as I can keep charging by battery I will drag my camera about and make my fly's whistle through the air. Cheers Iain

    I really love your videos as you know! I have to ask.......do you have a 'a fish any Scottish water I want when I want' season ticket? If so which post office sells them?

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  5 лет назад

      Hi again William I am afraid that most Scottish waters are privately owned and have to be paid for. An old guy gave me some advice when I first started work. He told me that my life would be split into three parts . The first part would be learning how to make money the second would be making money and the third would be spending money... I am now on the third stage and most goes on living and I still have enough to go fishing. Old Dougie died shortly after retiring . I think that if he has a chance to look down on me he would see that I have taken his advice and used it well..... Every now and again I have a toast with a wee dram to Dougie and I think that he would be proud of me. CHEERS Iain

      @@IainSB hello Iain . That is similar to what my father told me. However, jobs for life, are a thing of the past. These days we have to take risks the old ones would not believe. So my fortunes are very up and down. But I love my fishing, which is second to my family. Your videos are very good, I always look forward to watching.

      Hi William what you have said is very true , I have been lucky that over the years I think I was unemployed for 1 week .. I hope that you and guys like you manage to keep working and support you families and when you get to my age you can enjoy life and also have the health to go with it ... all the best for the future . Cheers Iain

      I believe I would so enjoy a day or two fishing with you. I could virtually guarantee a good chat over a dram or two in the lodge. I must come clean. I left England a decade ago and now liive in the tropics. Many reasons why, but thats for a another dram! So I've got a small boat and troll or live bait for more toothy fish. I do miss.....night time seatrout, draught Guinness, Donna kebab, marks and Spencer's, oh taking a buck as it gets light.....I'm homesick now.

    • @IainSB
      @IainSB  5 лет назад +1

      Hi William You Probably left to make a better life for you and your family and if you have been there for ten years I think you must have found it. Just because you miss a few things back home doesn,t mean to say that any thing here has got better. it is still the same as before and probably worse with the numties at the head of our governments..... I bet there are a few guys that read this comment and would swap places with you any day ... Its now pissing from the heavens and relay knackered the BBQ for this evening and the fishing for tomorrow .......All the best Cheers Iain ........ PS Keep pulling these barracuda and other monsters out I bet they are great on a BBQ on the beach. 😉
