I've always wanted an orchestration of the 3rd movement of Mozart's Piano Sonata No.4. It has that certain 'witty' style of mozart, and I thought it sounded like a finale of a concerto. I sometimes think the bright melody at the start of the movement(the melody with B-flat notes) as a scene in an opera; where the Soprano keeps asking and answering questions by herself, so I also think that it would be nice to get it orchestrated with a Soprano voice.
As a musician with absolutely no knowledge in orchestration this is really impressive! Could you please talk about your learning process (since I saw this was self taught)? Did you follow an online course, refer to books etc. or just functioned intuitively (because I feel like the latter wouldn’t really work when working with virtual playbacks unless using really high quality software, which... Musescore isn't quite there yet)
Score studying Brahms and Schumann symphonies for the most part. Tchaikovsky and Berlioz are also helpful. Plus, I read a lot on Vienna Sound Library which gives you a breakdown of how each instrument functions and sounds.
@@calebhu6383very nice, I can recommend Thomas Goss' channel OrchestrationOnline (if you aren't already familiar). Thanks for this video btw, it reignited my interest in orchestrating more Liszt works
Great job! I have one question though: Any reason you used B-flat trumpet over C? Did you want the darker timbre or was it just what you had available?

The liszt sonata, I think it could work very well
Scryabin's sonata no.9
@@averageclassicalmusicenjoyer Liszt Sonata has been orchestrated already: ruclips.net/video/KxWv8LGx-hw/видео.html
Maybe the Scriabin Fantasy?
The end of the second movement sounds so magnificent with the fast-paced, glissandi-like scales in the strings and the flutes. Bravo!!!
This is as epic as tchaikovsky's symphonic etude orchestration
Congrats on orchestrating such a big piece, it must have taken a lot of work. I am happy to see you grow as a musician.
Congratulations! It works really well.
fantastic!
Super sick man. No idea how you pull this off while busy with your other stuff. Keep killing it!
You just half-ass both things at the same time

@@calebhu6383Are you aware of Tchaikovsky's orchestration of Schumann's last 2 Symphonic Etudes?
@@joshscores3360 Yup. Ravel also orchestrated parts of Carnaval
Goddamn this is nice, have you orchestrated before this?
A bit, I taught myself by trying to orchestrate Brahms Sonata No.1 over the summer

Bb is the most common one, so that's why I used it
Too bad the recording is MIDI... Still great tho
