Thank you so much. This is the best video I've watched for learning this granny square. You are a wonderful teacher and I love your videos.. I'm 76 and I just started to learn crochet via youtube. I've learned so much from you.
Was giving up trying to do this type square until I found this tutorial. Easily the best one. I now understand the formula and building up a stack of squares
I like how you take your time explaining each step of how to do a granny square. I finally got the hang of it and understand how to do it with the help of this video tutorial. Your a great teacher, Thank you so much for your help.
Simply the best instructor out there. Wish I had known to look no further a couple years ago. Do yourself a favor and use this channel often as Jennifer is simply the best instructor out there. She even takes the times to mention that you will be working stitches on the side as well as the corners. Wish I had known that many months ago .... 🙂
Hi Jennifer. This is my first time ever making a granny square. Your instructions are easy to follow and understand. Thank you so much for your video. I am very proud of myself right now.
Thank you SO much, Jennifer, on this beyond awesome tutorial on the solid granny square. I really appreciate how you explain each detail of the process, including the anatomy of the square AND joining a new color AND ending the square. Thank you! Bobbie ❤
Hi Jennifer from Fiber Flux! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your video on how to make a granny square! You're teaching tutorial was perfect for me and how I learn. I have no experience and I literally started yesterday and followed your video pausing and playing back and forth until I understood how to make mine and for a very very beginner it came out good. always room for improvement for me but your tutorial was amazing and I look forward to more that you teach! Thank you very much again!
You are such a good teacher and you really take your time to explain everything. You really are a great teacher!! Thank you so much you make crocheting enjoyable and not stressing!! I've watched ALOT of other videos and I feel yours are the best!!
Thank you! Finally a granny square that does not have that unsightly awkward line going up the middle. I love knowing how to slip stitch to the corner now. I tell everyone to watch your videos it they really want to understand, learn, and retain the skills they are trying to master! Thanks again!
THIS IS THE BEST TUTORIAL ON THIS GRANNY SQUARE EVER AND I HAVE SEEN A BUNCH OF THEM AND THIS IS THE ONE TO WATCH NO OTHER COMES CLOSE!! THANK-YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS WITH US ALL!! ~ GOD! BLESS YOU!! ♥
I have been looking for a good tutorial for a solid granny square. This one popped up on my RUclips search and I love it. The pattern is different than some of the others I have tried and looks so much nicer. I will be checking out your other videos. Thank you for sharing.
I have watched many tutorials about the solid granny square and yours is the BEST! I love the way you do the join at the corner so that the join really doesn't show! Many of the others have a chain join going up the middle of the solid section which is really very ugly. Thank you so much for this!
I have watched several videos to make this type of granny square. This was the best one. Shows stitches better and explanation of what to do is clear. Thanks!
Thank you for showing us this video. I learnt to make a granny crochet from you. You have explained it very well and gently. Hope to learn more from you.
I have to give you a HUGE thank you for this video! I learned to crochet as a preteen, but then lost interest for 40 yrs (+/-) Now as a grandmother I'm trying to refresh myself. I have watched at least 5 different tutorials & had just about resolved myself I'll never be able to make this square, then I thought " Okay, you give it one more try" & I found you. HALLELUJAH! I finally did it!! Why no one else could teach me I don't know, but you did & I thank you. Now I can proceed w/my grandsons afghan. THANK YOU!!
This video was very easy to follow as were your intructions. I love to crochet but have a hard time reading patterns and being left handed definitely complicates things but I find if the person explains the stiches as they go it's very helpful for me. So thanks!
I am from the future and I just wanted to say I have gone through millions of videos on how did you granny squares and this one is the best you should be proud.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm a beginner and this helped me a lot. I was scared to use two different colored yarns but you made it seem very easy so once again I thank you!
Hooray so glad I watched this video I have been trying to learn this for ages I know it's basic crochet but the way you explained it all made sense thank you
i really like this. i'm sending this to my sister who has not been crocheting for many years and thought this would be nicer than the traditional granny square. your videos are great. thanks for sharing.
Thank you thank you thank you!! Your detailed instructions are the best I've found. And after viewing other videos and several failed attempts....I finally made one from your video!! I am thrilled. Thank you again...
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I have been trying to learn how to crochet the 'Granny Square' pattern for years! Other tutorials were so difficult to follow however your pattern and style is the BEST BY FAR! You are truly appreciated! :)
Thank you for making and sharing this video. This is one of the best, detailed video's on how to make these squares! Your pace is just right. I plan on making a Granny Square jacket with these, it will take me a while, but looking forward to it! Thank you again...Great video, have liked and subscribed to your channel....
I am so going to do this type of granny square for my first blanket. I just beginning to do my third traditional granny . I have many more to do before my afghan is complete. This tutorial was so easy to follow.
I learned to knit at a young age but it's always frustrated me how long it takes to complete a project (have lot's of unfinished things). Have always wanted to learn to crochet and, thanks to your amazing tutorial, I was able to do this. First time EVER I have been able to crochet something from scratch. You made it just so easy to follow. Thanks for teaching an old gal a new trick!!! I am now hooked on crochet and knitting is old hat.
This video tutorial was great. Easy to follow and a nice sharp picture. Also, thank you for the written pattern link. Now I just have to figure out what I want to make!!!!!
thank you so very much for this video. I had such a hard time trying to understand how to do a granny square but the the way you explained finally made it click. The solid granny is differen obviously from the traditional but being able to understand your video has helped me to understantd how to do the tradition one better also. Do you have a video on the the traditional granny square?
Thank you! I've been looking and looking for a way to join at the corner in order to use my variegated yarn. Your video and instructions are excellent.
I just looked at 4 different videos and this was the best. Also love your CH3 with stitch which makes invisible. I should have known better since your shawls are always my go to. Autumn skies is favorite. List count of amount I have done. Also the VSTITCH rectangle. Do you find if I do a large square it slants? Some will change direction every other row. I was thinking maybe every 2 or 3 or not at all if it will not slant. What is your opinion? Thanks
Hey Jennifer, compared to other tutorials for the solid granny square, yours does not have the visible seam that is noticed in the middle of one of the sides. I do my best to avoid those ‘appearance of a seam’ , so that the square looks flush. Thanks for this tutorial, I love it.
Thanks for sharing and i do love , that you really do take your time to allow us to keep up with you in the videos love it . :) Keep up great job :) toni g. :)
Hello. I wanted to say thank you for the great video. I think you do very well in making sure we fully understand as we follow along. I have a question now if I wanted the holes to be smaller is there anyway I can do it without having a lopsided square :-) I thank you in advance. Have a blessed day
i followed your instructions, hoping to make a cover for a throw pillow for my couch. the square i have now is a little lopsided. should i unravel and try again?
If I prefer this method but am planning to make a BIG blanket, would it start curling since I am not turning the work? Asking before I actually attempt this version.
Hi there, how many stitches does each row increase by so I can keep count? I don't think Im going into all of the dcs because my square looks off. Thank you very much for the tutorial :)
I have tried and tried doing this over and over. I watch your video and count every row. I've tried smaller needle, larger needle, in between needle. It looks perfect and the bigger it gets it gets wavey or puckers. Any suggestions....I don't to give up !
Thank you for this tutorial. Is there a written pattern for the solid granny square? I'm sorry, but I'm a little confused. Jennifer did a slip stitch to the corner at the end of a couple rounds 2 or 3 times in the pattern, but not every time. I don't remember where to put the slip stitches (to the corner) unless I watch the entire video again. Are these slip stitches critical?
I have watched sooooo many videos and I understand the process but every time I do it it becomes a granny circle because I can't get the edges of the squares please help
There was a stitch skipped in round 2 side 3, that is why the 3rd stitch was was bit hard to get the hook into. I have OCD and it really bothered me. But great tutorial otherwise.
So, you don't turn this? I know when I learned the classic granny square, you had to turn your work... I hate the classic granny square, because your toes get hung if you make a blanket. I will like this one better. I can't wait to get started. LOL.
That is a great question! They are slightly different on the yarn weight scale...check out this chart from the CYC, this is the one I use all of the time, I hope it helps! www.craftyarncouncil.com/weight.html

This is working great with t shirt yarn for a bathroom rug. Thanks a lot for the lesson!
Not sure why anyone would give thumbs down to this. This is the best pattern for a solid granny square that I could find and the great tutorial.
i really like this. i'm sending this to my sister who has not been crocheting for many years and thought this would be nicer than the traditional granny square. your videos are great. thanks for sharing.

i followed your instructions, hoping to make a cover for a throw pillow for my couch. the square i have now is a little lopsided. should i unravel and try again?
Excellent, thanks so much x
Thank you very much. 💜
Your instructions are the best! Can you make a quilt by crocheting one huge square??
Have you done this before?
I have a work in progress that is a huge granny square that will be a blanket.
Oh nice! Can you post a pic?
Softie Debbie I do have a picture but I am not sure how to post it here.
Softie Debbie Here's my photo in dropbox. www.dropbox.com/sc/626444afhd68r8b/AAAsGtehTvBj0MoUu7yEmmUba
Melissa Williams Oh it's beautiful! Thanks for sharing it! :)
Excellent I want to do thank you
i love this tutorial
If I prefer this method but am planning to make a BIG blanket, would it start curling since I am not turning the work? Asking before I actually attempt this version.
Hi there, how many stitches does each row increase by so I can keep count? I don't think Im going into all of the dcs because my square looks off. Thank you very much for the tutorial :)
You are awesome
I'm wonder is there a way to make it 2 colors like half Rd half white? if so can you make a tutorial?
I have tried and tried doing this over and over. I watch your video and count every row. I've tried smaller needle, larger needle, in between needle. It looks perfect and the bigger it gets it gets wavey or puckers. Any suggestions....I don't to give up !
Very nice. thank
I love your video, but I was wondering if I could turn my square after every round?
I was just wondering, would it be possible to use a magic ring with this particular pattern instead of the chain 4?
Thank you for this tutorial. Is there a written pattern for the solid granny square? I'm sorry, but I'm a little confused. Jennifer did a slip stitch to the corner at the end of a couple rounds 2 or 3 times in the pattern, but not every time. I don't remember where to put the slip stitches (to the corner) unless I watch the entire video again. Are these slip stitches critical?
I was wondering about that also!
lovely thank you x
I just made one with 8 rounds and it won't lay flat. It's as if I've been increasing on accident, but I counted and I know I haven't. any advice?
Do you chain 5 on the other corners too?
You the best
I have watched sooooo many videos and I understand the process but every time I do it it becomes a granny circle because I can't get the edges of the squares please help
Merci 😊
u do it in slow so easy for anyone like crochet
Bmt jolie s crochet Wonderful, glad that helps!
Im following to the T and my end unraveled and it took on more curved corners 😬
every time i try to make a square, it turns into a clump of nothing! help?
How many increase in DC per round ?
There was a stitch skipped in round 2 side 3, that is why the 3rd stitch was was bit hard to get the hook into. I have OCD and it really bothered me. But great tutorial otherwise.
So, you don't turn this? I know when I learned the classic granny square, you had to turn your work... I hate the classic granny square, because your toes get hung if you make a blanket. I will like this one better. I can't wait to get started. LOL.
I always have a sheet between me and the old grannie squares, lol but sure know what you mean.
Is worsted weight yarn the same as Dk yarn?
That is a great question! They are slightly different on the yarn weight scale...check out this chart from the CYC, this is the one I use all of the time, I hope it helps!
www.craftyarncouncil.com/weight.html
Where is the written pattern?
crocheting is hard, I thought that it would be just as easy as knitting but I was so wrong...
I like the way u teach it's just you are a bit to fast
