    That was a great, I gotta catch one this year just for the experience. I was just at a lake where they were jumping everywhere and the bass fishing was awful. Guess I was targeting wrong species. Thank you Alex, you have a great day today!

    Carp rival catfish when it comes to slime but they are so under appreciated. The big thing to pay attention to when handling carp is their pectoral and dorsal fins. Like catfish they can poke you but even worse, a carps pec/dorsal fins have very visual barbs and a lot of them along the entire length of the fin. They quite literally look like the saw attachment on a multi tool.

    I used to fish for carp when I was stationed in Germany. I would take a couple to the local restraunt and let them have them. I have had it a few times and it's not really that bad. I would trade the carp for fresh cooked mussels and all the beer I could drink =)

      @@19Burgandyhis us a dual hatch with two major breeds/hatches. I experienced this a number of years ago in my area. Totally epic. Of course we get hatches every summer as the norm but apparently those broods are smaller and I don’t think there is more than one at a time.

    • @AlexRuddFishing
      @AlexRuddFishing  Месяц назад +4

      @19Burgandy looks like you didn’t read it…and I quote "While *some* cicadas emerge every summer, *Brood XIX and Brood XIII are among the seven existing species of so-called “periodical cicadas”* that emerge only every 13 or 17 years in North America." - "For the first time since 1803, these two broods, or generations, of cicadas-Brood XIX and Brood XIII-will rise up from the earth simultaneously" - I am fishing the periodical cicada hatch. Moreover, I am fishing during the once-every-200-year event when both 13-year and 17-year cicadas emerge together.
