    Imagine how lucky we were to have lived at a time when you could see both Mr. Rodgers and Andy Rooney on TV. People like that helped us keep our sanity and were our national touchstones.

    I always enjoy a good rant , and Andy was one of the best at it. He had a way of elevating the mundane, making us think, appreciate, question, or just laugh at ourselves, the world, or life. Sometimes he even made me cry. He never pretended to be anything other than what he is -- someone who finds the world a curious place, and isn't afraid to question it. I look forward to seeing what you do next, at 92!!

    He had me watching 60 Minutes ever week with my parents from the age of 7, for years I watched the show just to see him, and when I was older I was glad I'd watched the show for so long, and will always be in debt to him for that gift. I'll miss seeing him every week.

    Andy Rooney is one of the few people I miss on TV, he was always the best, I sometimes watch re-runs from his old programs. Thank God for Andy! We miss him. I wonder what he would have to say about Covid and all the is happening around us.

    I watched Andy every week for almost 30 years. I remember the last year or so he wasn't on much..I do remember being overseas in Guam in the mid 90's and Andy would come on and tell people he wasn't trimming his eyebrows ever. He was a lot of fun I'm glad he lived a long life.

    I'm glad that he gave credit to his high school teacher for inspiring him to find his potential. Now that teachers are under attack in places like Ohio and Wisconin for being greedy and union thugs, its nice to know that they are appreciated for doing good things by people like Rooney who has done great things. I was never a fan of his grumpy style, but he did it his way and was old enough not to care about what others thought.

    : The world lost a good man today with the passing of Andy Rooney. His essays on 60 minutes were sometimes serious and sometimes not. But, they all made a point and usually made me laugh. As a tribute to him I think CBS (60 Minutes) should consider running his essays again as "Encore performances" so to speak. I would certainly watch them and I know millions of other people would too.

    @protochris He never went out of his way to call the people "imbeciles" He merely made it clear that he disagreed. What you said, the day after the man died, was unnecessary and hurtful to those who respected this man. That is not something that one says about the recently deceased. Of all people, a man of faith should understand that.

    The absolute last of Americans that i can think of that have a head that is screwed on straight. Andy had common sense which is not so common these days, and the wisdom to know when and where to say and use it. He had balls enough not to care what anyone thought or if they agreed. Which whether or not we did he was still usually right.

    @MrGojags ...as opposed to non Christians who spew hatred on people who don't think the way they do about God. Hatred and bigotry are faults of humanity not God; no religion or philosophy has a monopoly on them. Secular atheism is especially not immune from those faults-remember communism, naziism? Wow!, what a wonderful thing to look forward to- being alive in someone's mind. I'd rather bend a knee to my creator.

    @protochris Andy Rooney was a strong supporter of black rights. He even was arrested for sitting in the back of a segregated bus in protest. You and your need to insult people who do not agree with religion is one of the fundamental issues with religion. You appear to be christian, so let me tell you this. John 13:34

  • @protochris
    @protochris 12 лет назад

    @samvansomething I'll bet I'm insulted far more for my faith, then those who do not share it. Andy saw no problem insulting people of faith during their lifetime, including blacks. I'm only critical of the man for denouncing those who didn't agree with him.

    @whatisdrunkal Andy denied God during his lifetime, and also ridiculed people of faith; for this he was a fool.
    He also ridiculed blacks and gays. Andy had an opinion about everyone; maybe that's partly why America liked him so much. I sure don't wish he is in hell. I hope he was wrong and is presently in the arms of a gracious and loving God.
