Is this a side dish for the meal or a dessert????? I am confused 🤷♀️ we don’t celebrate thanksgiving as I am in Australia 😊 and I have never had a meal that includes marshmallows 😊😜 curious x
Sweet Potato Casserole is one of my family’s favorite sides as well. It’s sooo yummy! My favorite likes it without the marshmallows with just the crumb topping. Another family fav is broccoli and cheese cornbread made from jiffy cornbread mix! Tyfs 😊❤️👍🏼
Melissa Schmehl It is really good. Just make your mix as directed on the package. I add about a 1/4 stick of melted butter to mine. Then I add in the chopped broccoli and shredded cheese of choice. I don’t measure that I just use as much I like. Soooo good! Everyone ask me to make it during gatherings.

I have made this same recipe, but stopped right before the marshmallows. It is a must that I bring this every year. I boil my sweet potatoes cut in huge chunks with the skins on. After they are fork tender, drain and let cool...the skins slide right off! Super easy.
Wow girl, this brings me back! My mom used to make her's like this. It must be a southern thing. :-) As much as I love this version, I have gravitated more towards the savory elements with my sweet potatoes and roast them. But your recipe gave me warm and fuzzies. Thanks!
I have always made my version of Sweet Potato Casserole and shared it on the dinner table, but I eat it for dessert, almost like a crustless sweet potato pie, so delicious, but as a diabetic I will probably not make it this year because my husband was diagnosed as well ... so I'm going to just make baked sweet potatoes with a little butter and a tsp. brown sugar, yes that is still going to make it sweet, but far less than if I made my casserole. ** I add coconut and marshmallows in to my casserole, then top it with more marshmallows and in the past I have cooked my sweet potatoes in apple cider instead of water in the crockpot, it adds a nice sweetness without adding tons of sugar later. This is a lot like my sweet potatoes that I’ve been making for 15+ years. I’ve tweeked the recipe a lot from the original. Mine is crushed pineapple mixed with the sweet potatoes and the topping has coconut in it too. It’s a family favorite. I usually double the recipe because my kids can easily eat a huge pan. It’s Definitely not a healthy recipe. That’s why I only make it twice a year.

We make a sweet potato casserole every year. The only difference is we add some honey and no vanilla. It is yummy.
