I'm not a big marshmallows fan , I know everyone else loves them ! I use a small can of crushed pineapple in mine and it's well loved too !

The day before Thanksgiving is food prep and stage-in-the-fridge day. Pies are baked, and onions and celery are chopped. Deviled eggs are made, and whipped topping is pulled from the freezer. Candied Yams and other sides are prepared and ready to go on the stove or in the oven while the bird is resting. Prepping is my way of knowing everything will fit in my fridge when the meal is over.
Nutmeg in lieu of cinnamon, is also very delicious in this dish! Brings out the flavor of the sweet potatoes. Yummmmmy! 😋
my Dad came up with something similar. Except, you leave out the marshmallows and add a can of apple pie filling Otherwise, it was pretty much the same. You can skimp on the brown sugar if you add the sweet pie filling. It is really good that way as well.
That sounds good. We don't like marshmallows.

One year, I think it was Christmas (I was little - we spent holidays with my great grandmother - awesome days) someone brought sweet potato casserole and it had apple slices in it. I wonder if it was the same recipe as yours? Delicious memory! Thank you, Lori!

I also have 4 hahahaha. one year my mother and my in-laws gifted me the same exact ones for christmas hahahaha. my mother moved out of her home and with me and brought 2 more which I treasure now since she had to move into a nursing home after a few years. I barely ever use the slow cooker and now have 4 hahahahaha.

Looks AMAZING! My mom made hers very similar, but instead of water to thin out the sugar/butter mixture, she used pineapple juice. Just the right touch!

This is how I make my sweet potatoes for holidays too, except I cook them in the oven, and I’ve never measured my butter or sugar, because you know how it is when you’ve been cooking all your life..lol I do use the large marshmallows because they disappear too fast in the oven, and I love the toasty marshmallow tops, so I’d definitely miss that, but I do like how in your recipe, you get more marshmallow throughout, whereas that would be completely melted in the oven. I’m thinking I might try your recipe in my crock pot this Thanksgiving now.:) I’ll even use the measurements so that it comes out as close to yours as possible. Thanks so much for sharing!! Oh goodness, these do look good. My mom always used canned sweet potatoes then just covered them in brown sugar and marshmallows and baked them, but I like the idea of using fresh. Thanks for sharing and for leaving my mouth watering.

I love sweet potato casserole. I’m typically in charge of them come the holidays. I mash mine up. I love the crockpot idea, but would miss the crispness of the marshmallows after baking it.
