Congratulations on your new job and new adventure. I leaved in Athens for 6 months, it was the best time of my life. I met great people who till this day 16 years later are like family to me
As a Greek I am happy when people from other ethnicities realize by themselves how hard life is here in Greece! We work more than any other European (this is a real fact from official eurostat) and we can buy less than any other! Better choose another country!! Anyone who thinks that will come in Greece to live an easy life in paradise, come, and talk to me 5 years later! Yeah, i told you!!
@yvettakollega5791 Since obviously you have not worked like Greeks it would be better first YOU to work like us and then let us talk about your "productivity"! I bet you couldn't stand a month under our circumstances! (And judging by your words I think that a month is a long period for you, probably you couldn't stand a week!)
@@AB-sc5qx quality is indeed poor, from buildings quality to customer service etc. Proof: just use your eyes! Working hard or long hours doesnt mean good or meaningful work!
@@yvettakollega5791 Two things can be true at the same time. For example, I am Greek and work for a U.S. tech company. If I go back to Greece, it doesn’t mean I will be compensated according to my productivity.
We left 5 years ago. It was the worst day of my life, but it was impossible to provide for our children everything they needed and my husband, as an ambitious person couldn't show his full potential due to corrupted system, incompetence and overall "I couldn't care less" mentality. I miss Greece. We are thinking about going back when we retire.
I lived in usa for 15 years from the age of 4 to 19 . As soon as I finished school I returned to Greece . I wouldnt trade Greece for any other country. Even.my sister who lives in the us and have 2 restaurants her mind is here in Greece.
My parents left Greece for Canada in 1957: now, everyone I know here is homeless (fortunately, I share a 50 square foot broom closet in the Toronto Underground with a Supreme Court judge, a celebrated neurosurgeon, and an eminent university professor).
I came to Greece 31 years ago and never looked back. Greece was kind and generous to me and I worked hard. I made a precious family here as well. Unless I need to become a war or climate refugee I’ll be here for good!

My good friend! You are so Right. I live in North America for 44 years and I can't say it better myself!. 30 years ago, things were much better here. No more! As you said, if you work hard in Greece you can have much better life there than here. We like to believe that foreigners do things..better than the Greeks but that is a Myth.
I have worked in Greece as a stage resort entertainer in top 5 stars resorts. You can make a lot of money anywhere IF YOU HAVE THE SKILLS. If you don't have skills that can easily translate into money it will be hard anywhere. Content creation can also make you money, through brand deals mostly! There's many content creators out there who are crashing it...however charisma is needed to build a brand that lasts. So...if you are a content creator but didn't make enough in Greece...and your niche is based on traveling, you cannot stay a lot in one country only. If your brand is wellness, relationships, finances & co, then you can build it from one country only. The rest of the people who work 9-5 or any other type of make your boss rich hours, will be poor in any country.
Thank you so much for this. As an American near retirement, I could come there, retire and be comfortable there. My whole life has been spent here in the USA. My ex husband is Greek and now lives there again after over 44 years in the USA. He loves Greece but realizes many things that are bad in his homeland. He is financially ok and lives comfortably in Greece but says he misses us here. He feels like a strange in his homeland but his quality of life is better in Greece. The U.S. is extremely hard life as you age. It’s for young ambitious hardworking people. We are seniors now and ready to relax now. I will be 65 soon and wanting to stop working and live a bit before I am too old to do so. It’s hard in U.S. but in a different way. You have to be very strong to endure it. Greece is for vacation and retirement, sadly. Greece doesn’t produce like some European countries do. Corruption and not creating opportunities for their citizens and the EU seems to want to keep it that way. I love Greek culture. My heart is with Greek people, here and the homeland. Lovely and thoughtful video. All the best on your next journey 💙
Wow you really follow your heart and explore life! So proud of you! I lost my job 6 months ago! Still looking for a job and will learn from your comment. Let it go, surrender to the universe and breathe through life! Thank you for sharing and keep us posted on your new life in Malta! Xo
I sincerely wish you the best in your endeavours. Your vlogs were very well researched. I've been going to Greece since 1969 and your observations are spot on. We thought of relocating to Greece now that we are retired, but after 4 months, we just couldn't tolerate the bureaucracy. Again, good luck!
Hey Pati, OMG, I am so excited for you (and myself - but more about that later) I wish I had been like you in the past and followed my dreams. whims and feelings and travelled the world. Although I have travelled way more than the average person, it has only been on holidays, and as great as that is, nothing is like living as a local for the real experience. In saying that, I have the funds now to travel to wherever I want and return to my own home in Australia. It is sad that you cannot see a future living in Greece, as this year (you may remember), I visited for around a month (and loved it - especially Athens itself), however brighter days may be ahead for you, hopefully in Malta . Anyway, in 2026 I am planning to go to Malta with three friends and am super excited that I will be able to continue following your content and perhaps use it to plan my next European holiday. Just as a side note, I love that your time in England is still noticeable (I emigrated to Australia in 1970, as a three year old), with your comment "sod it". I had a little giggle to myself. All the best, and I hope your plans are exactly as you want them to be, cheers, Mark.
Hello Mark! Good to hear from you 😀 Let's see what this next chapter is going to bring, and I have learnt that I can't really plan too much ahead. Happy my new location and upcoming content will align with your travel plans!
Wow, this video touched my heart! All the best on your new chapter, and even though I started following you for Athens content, I absolutely will continue to stick around for as long as you do on YT! Good luck xxxx
I'm in a similar situation right now. I'm having to leave London after living here for 20-odd years and heading back to Greece where I am originally from. I've only heard back from one of the many job applications I've sent and that fell through. The overall picture is really unprofessional and really low pay. I'm really concerned.
Do you have to go? Absolutely? I don’t want to disappoint you but it won’t be easy. Except if you are getting paid a GREAT salary (more than €2500, very hard to find here) and you have great relationships/connections.
@@athsait7215 Yes, I am a victim of the housing crisis. I've broken up recently too. No, I don't have connections. This is why I've lived in London so long. I've wanted to leave London for many years but no job back in Greece. It's hell with the housing here at the moment. The highest percentage of homelessness in the whole of Europe is in London.
Greece is the most beautiful country in the world but I could not stand the rampant corruption on all levels and left... Do I miss it? Elements of it, yes. BUT, I love being in a place where honesty, hard work and integrity count. Greece is all but destroyed because of the corruption. Even those that are not corrupt have to adjust in order to survive. Greeks vote for the same corrupt politicians every time and expect different results. Doesn't work this way... Used to have beautiful scenery and it has been destroyed by the wind generators on every mountain top... Used to have amazing food and that has been destroyed as well by imports of fruits, veggies, meats, dairy and fish, that does not taste as good as it used to in years past. Unfortunately, Greece is done, finished, kaput, sayonara...
This is so great for you, Pat. So many disappointments and at the end of the day the fate suggested a new way for you. I am happy for you 🙂 Wish you many splendid moments in Malta!
I think I can speak for most people when I say that we are here for you bubbly personalty and perspectives on life. When life closes one door, a new one will open. Thank you for making content and I'm exited to follow your new chapter in Malta!
Pati, the very few videos that I’ve watched,I loved each and everyone one of them. I love your personality because you come across as being very down-to-earth and I appreciate and respect this attitude. No BS,only true feelings and facts. We’ve all heard the saying « Money doesn’t bring happiness « .I’m going to be a bit of a Contrarian because it does. A case in point is your situation,if you would’ve landed a good job with a good salary that would’ve allowed you to enjoy Athens/Greece without the financial restrictions, you would stay put and just enjoy life. Also, when you have enough money in your purse, you will always be out and about and meet other people and never feel lonely. Money is not to be worshipped but it is necessary to bring us happiness in our day to day life. I sincerely wish you all the best in your next adventure and hopefully you will be able to put roots in Malta as your main Hub.
Thank you, and I agree. Certainly th person who said that money doesn't bring happiness was never poor. Money gives us freedom, and freedom is happiness 😊 ❤️
What about posting in the future some comparison videos of your new life in Malta vs your old life in Greece? I think it is a good idea to watch your point of view and it will be interesting for your existing audience too.
This is why living in Southern Europe (Spain, Italy, Greece etc.) is not a good choice, because they only interact with their families. For foreigners those are difficult places.
I believe it too when you surrender you relax, and thus become more open energetically. Maybe I missed a detail in the video, but was it hard in Greece for you due to the language as well?
No, I personally didn't have an issue with the language, but I'm in Athens. In smaller islands, it might be harder without knowing any Greek, but Athens are fine.
Dear Pati, I have always loved watching your videos ever since I first discovered your channel. I deeply resonate with your sentiments for being close to nature and enjoying the great outdoors. After all, we are all limbs of God. Dream On and Keep Going. Respect & Love. ❤
I am also planning on leaving Greece next year. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful country and I will for sure come to vacation, but living here is very hard. I have to think of what’s best for my 11 year old son, and in the US I feel he has more opportunities to grow. Greece is beautiful I agree, but living here is not the same as vacationing. I wish you the best of luck in your new endeavors 😊
Try salaries in the US, they're even funnier. Plus, you're entirely on your own in the US. No family to help you out, no family home to go to if times get tough, no health insurance if you get sick. Go to America. There's nothing like living in America to make you appreciate Greece, warts and all... Oh and don't forget your gun :)
Or you could be a Snowbird at some point. Where you could live in Poland except in the long winter. In the winter because it snows in Poland, you could rent all summer in Malta and have lots of time with your friends. Just a thought for the far future ❤. Love your vidoes.❤
Half Polish half Greek here, I am in a dilemma regarding whether I should move to Norway Germany or Poland.....I mean Poland would be my choice hands down but I think that the salaries are much better comparatively and the overall quality of life in thr other two countries. Any insights?
I remember it was like yesterday watching the vid where you said that you are moving to Greece. First thing that came to my mind is let's see how long she will stay (since i know that life in Greece is hard). Time flies.
I am exactly like in your situation, I left my country too...for the same reasons as I understand. From my point of view, I would suggest ,you to go back to Poland 🇵🇱 ❤. You will never settle if you continue to give another "fight" in Malta . Poland is a Great place to live. I know few of Polish people ,which some are friends and I can say that they are very good people
I grew up in Australia migrated 1965 parents and siblings!!! Eve up to this day I could never understand how every Greek thinks that anywhere else is perfect paradise until they come here and they in shock doesn’t meat there expectations but they to embarrassed to go back to Greece because they thought they will find money in the street I feel sorry for them they working 3jobs to get through life
Oh, Pati - I am so happy for you to have made a decision and withstood the process - until The Universe came through !!!! 😉. You demonstrated keen reflection, sound thinking AND decision making, especially allowing yourself to SURRENDER in order to stop depleting yourself with stress. Looking forward to seeing your videos about your “new life” in Malta !! One suggestion: you might want to put some thought into how to leverage your RUclips channel into a business, rather than just a beloved hobby. “Pretty Over Fifty” put out a recent video on just this subject. 1) Developing a mailing list (offering a weekly newsletter/note) and 2) Creating B2B relationships will enable you to bring in revenue streams, which RUclips views alone will never provide. I wish you ALL the best of luck and a WILDLY SUCCESSFUL a MOVE TO MALTA !!! 🇲🇹. 😘-V
Thank you for your kind words and your advice. In fact, this is something I am considering once I settle in Malta and find a direction. I'm never gonna give up on creating the life I want. This might be a door I have been searching for. I guess we will find out 😉😁
There are problems everywhere and once you realize that and understand and it's only you that can change your life and nobody else or no place else maybe you'll understand what life is all about
At first let me wish you the best luck for whatever you wish to do in your life. I don't mean to criticize but, from what you stated in your video, it seems like to me that you are not really a career person with any desired professional skills (nurse, engineer, management staff etc.) so I would assume that whatever you did in Greece for a living your earnings would at or slightly higher than the minimum wage and please correct me if I am wrong. Unfortunately with the exception of countries like Albania, Montenegro and the rest, life in Europe is expensive and anyone with low wages will face a struggle. At least in Greece you would have the weather, the sea, the food and all the rest of benefits that make the Greek atmosphere rather than the gloomy and dark northern Europe. Nonetheless be safe and the my best wishes to you. I am Greek born and raised in Athens and I love it.
Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Actually, I used to be a career person, I used to be a manager, and I used to work in corporate. I gave it up to chase my dreams. Dreams didn't pay my bills. So I'm finding a compromise. All the best!
Greece is not a country you arrive "broke" . You work somewhere where you can make a lot of money and when are you 50 you take your money and retire in Greece. I know many people who have done it and they regret why they couldn't do it when they were 40.
Greece is full of Polish immigrants so I'm not sure how much better opportunities are there and Malta isn't really famous for being the land of career Dreams coming true either. But you do you. And like we say in Greece "ώρα σας καλή κι ο κωλος σας γυαλι."
Don't worry, you will jump on a different little cloud and will head for a different fantasy that will again disappoint you. How about maturing a bit and step on the ground with both feet??
What is wrong with you that you have to make these awful comments? You know you can scroll on by you don’t have to write anything you could probably need to grow up. You sound like a child….cry more……

Congratulations 🎉
This is so great for you, Pat. So many disappointments and at the end of the day the fate suggested a new way for you. I am happy for you 🙂 Wish you many splendid moments in Malta!
Life is worth living around love ones.Enjoy your stay as you relocate🎄.
I think I can speak for most people when I say that we are here for you bubbly personalty and perspectives on life. When life closes one door, a new one will open.
Thank you for making content and I'm exited to follow your new chapter in Malta!
Thank you 😊
Pati, the very few videos that I’ve watched,I loved each and everyone one of them.
Yes, I will definitely do that :)
Malta is very hot and humid, I would definitely choose Warsaw to live. I really loved it when I visited.
Dear Pati, I have always loved watching your videos ever since I first discovered your channel. I deeply resonate with your sentiments for being close to nature and enjoying the great outdoors. After all, we are all limbs of God.
Dream On and Keep Going.
Respect & Love. ❤
Thank you ❤️❤️
I am also planning on leaving Greece next year.
Best of luck to you, too! ❤️
we love you so much you are the best plus i love you so much
The best of luck. Salaries in Greece are a joke and in no way sustainable. You made the right choice to leave
Wow honey , follow your dreams , proud of you
Or you could be a Snowbird at some point.
Snowbird hahha Loved it! ❤️
Eve up to this day I could never understand how every Greek thinks that anywhere else is perfect paradise until they come here and they in shock doesn’t meat there expectations but they to embarrassed to go back to Greece because they thought they will find money in the street I feel sorry for them they working 3jobs to get through life
I came to Australia now as an Australian citizen who grew up in Greece and this is true.
Best wishes and thanks for sharing your experiences. I hope that you keep doing these videos.
Oh I will!! Thank you 😊
Good luck in your new chapter! You made the right choice! Greece is dead end job wise.
I guess we will find out 😉😁
There are problems everywhere and once you realize that and understand and it's only you that can change your life and nobody else or no place else maybe you'll understand what life is all about
Cheers to Poland and Polish people!
😊😊❤

Only in Greece can you find a copy of Heracleitus in a rubbish pile.
Greece is full of Polish immigrants so I'm not sure how much better opportunities are there and Malta isn't really famous for being the land of career Dreams coming true either. But you do you. And like we say in Greece "ώρα σας καλή κι ο κωλος σας γυαλι."
Στο καλό και να μην μας γράφετε 😂😂😂😂
Don't worry, you will jump on a different little cloud and will head for a different fantasy that will again disappoint you. How about maturing a bit and step on the ground with both feet??
Αντε στο καλό, γιατί παραμαζευτήκατε.
Bla bla bla.
I stop to watch on 11 minutes.
Good bye, good luck and don’t write to us.
Thank you
What is wrong with you that you have to make these awful comments? You know you can scroll on by you don’t have to write anything you could probably need to grow up. You sound like a child….cry more……
Boring
You talk too much rubbish……….
❤
