I so appreciate you taking time to make these videos, you are very talented and share a wealth of knowledge. I hope to be over time. Newbie wood turner here.
This blew my mind.. I didn't know how to do the multi axis trick like that and I have been making a bunch of little keychain mushrooms that look more like drawer pulls lol. Thanks Mike!
Some nice work there and some fine tips at the beginning ,i love my digits wouldn't want to lose any lol,Ive liked and subd you oh loved that red coloured wood mushroom ,beautiful colours. Greetings from Wales UK. at some point i may try a bit of woodturning on my diverse channel. Take care. Ant !
I just turned my first piece from Box Elder. I was amazed at how beautiful the wood was. I always considered it "junk" wood and wouldn't even use it for firewood. Also, I really appreciated the band saw tips.
First thing I have people turn when I teach them to turn is a mallet. Second is a mushroom. I've been turning over 28 years and I still learn things turning a mushroom.
I like the off set axis trick... When I want to keep some bark, I usually saturate the area with CA glue, to give it a better chance of holding on to it.
I hate the CA smell and avoid it when I can. But it did help with this one. Typically with a fresh green piece I rarely have a problem keeping the bark. This piece was outside wet and nasty. It looks a bit better now that it has dried in doors. I may have to add more CA.
Nice demo, Mike. Loved the shape the multi-axis gives. The audio is not perfect. I can barely hear you talking when the lathe is on. My wife doesn't like the sound of the lathe. She makes me put my headphones on. Then the lathe is real loud. Thanks...Ken
@@MikePeaceWoodturning Thank you, sir. I don't want to miss any little tip that would make me a better turner! Keep up the good work on your interesting videos.
Cool ideas Mike
Take care all and stay safe and well
Cheers

You too, Harold.
A cool idea for a turning project. The "mushroom farm" might make a nice center piece. Thanks!
Great idea!
Awewsome Mike. Thanks for the bit of inspiration. I might have to have a crack at this.
You should, David!

I hope so too!
All good projects but I like the mushroom farm the best. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
Thanks, you too! I heard Sam giving you a shout out today on his latest notes video..

It works on bird house ornament roofs and gnome hats.
@@MikePeaceWoodturning so you turn the "roof" on the off axis, and the "house" on the centered axis? Or vice versa? Thanks for the help!!
@@naturaIIydifferent You can do either or or both. Just grab a branch and play.
Nice one thanks Mike
This was just claimed by my granddaughter.

It is very light weight for ornaments. A bandsaw is safer than a tablesaw IMHO. But you still have to exercise caution and good safety practices.

Thanks for sharing. I will keep that in mind when I need a simple beginner project for a student.
Thanks, Mike! Cool turnings!!
They were fun!
Neat ideas. I’ve got to try turning some of these.
Go for it!

I think I see some mushrooms growing in my shop in the near future.
😂
You make an imitation of a mushroom out of wood. As real as the original
Any shape seems to look like a mushroom somewhere!
Excellent video, thanks..
Glad you liked it!
Where does Fog wood originate from . I have never heard of it before. Jim's wood shop. Thank you.
Good question! Found on Ground. It has a grain a lot like Neighborwood, LOL.
Интересные, грибочки.
