Wonderful that you did Within Temptation! One note: The Reckoning is one of their more recent songs. If you want to get an idea of their full range of styles I recommend you do songs from their earlier albums. To name a few: Mother Earth, Ice Queen (besides the regular version there are two acoustic versions, the more recent one from 2018 is my favourite) Angels, Memories (the live versions are great!) or The Truth Beneath The Rose.
    Thank you, Geebz!

They are a Dutch symphonic metal band that started the same time as Nightwish 1996. They are considered one of the pioneers of female fronted symphonic metal bands. The lead vocalist is Sharon den Adel who founded the band together with her partner Robert Westerholt. She applied, and was admitted, to the conservatory for opera training but did not like it so she changed over to the arts-academy within her first semester. So apart from that short stay she is complete self-tough. There she studied clothing design and management and completed it successfully. She has mainly used these skills in designing outfits used on stage. They have had a rather successful run in clubs for couple of years where their performances were constantly sold out. Because of that they got invited to the biggest festival in the Netherlands "Pink Pop". Even though they had a very early start the concert was a huge success. They released their single "Ice Queen"shortly after expecting it to be very successful but it did not do much until somewhere in December that year a dj played it on the radio. Suddenly the song shot up in the charts and even took the number 1 spot. Now other countries started to pay attention.
The next song to take a look i would recommend "The promise" from their Black Symphony concert where they were supported by a full symphonic orchestra and choir. ruclips.net/video/39k1IQoeLAU/видео.html

Uh, Within Temptation. They are an awesome band and around for quite a while now, so if you want to check them out a bit more, they have a very rich and diverse discography.
For a bit of Gothic Metal with growls have a listen to their debut album "Enter".
From there they developed more into symphonic metal with songs like "the Promise", "Angels", "Stand my Ground" or "The Truth beneath the Rose". Then they have a more "rocky" sound with such as "Faster" or "In the Middle of the Night". And they definetily know how to do awesome collaborations like "Paradise" (feat. Tarja), "And we Run" (feat. Xzibit; very cool mix of Metal and Rap), "What have you done now" (feat. Keith/Mina Caputo) or their most recent song "Shed my Skin" feat. Annisokay; an absolut banger). So if you want to, you have a long way to go with them xD.
Oh, and you gained a new Sub, I really enjoyed your detailed look at this song and so far also your other videos I have watched today, keep up the good work.

Within Temptation is such an amazing band...
Sharon den Adel is the singer and occasionally she'll feature a backup... a very popular one is A Live Duet with Anneke van Giersbergen; another amazing vocalist and musician who does an amazing live cover of Time After Time... Anneke also does work with Daniel Cavanagh of Anathema, and if never heard these guys, then take a day and get lost in them because they have some amazing work 🍷🍀
"A Natural Disaster" is a song that you should do for the channel so try not listen to it if you haven't already...
Oh and they also do a version of "Teardrop" which is also the intro theme to House MD
Should react to some Hugh Laurie
    He also does great music

Great decomposition again Geebz. Loved it. Within Temptation surely developed their sound through the decades.
If you wish to learn more of where they 'came from', in various ways, explore their earliest, more 'goth metal' albums ... and then go back in time to the landmark album 'Mandylion' (1995) by The Gathering (TG), fronted by Anneke van Giersbergen. That album is referred to by many as the pinnacle of goth metal. That and a few subsequent albums, and their performances on both metal and mainstream festivals in Europe in those days (and a few similar bands ofc), influenced a whole generation of musicians and female vocalists continueing on that proto-symphonic / melodic / atmospheric metal lead. Examples: Nightwish's Tuomas and Floor, Devin Townsend, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Anathema and Evanescence. Anneke would later join Devin in his Devin Townsend Project to sing many songs on multiple albums, but also cooperate intensively with Arjen (Ayreon) Anthony Lucassen in multiple projects (and do many, many more amazing things ...). TG and Anneke should really be on your to-check-list. Mandylion and the subsequent albums TG created with Anneke are all worth dissecting, but cover a massively broad musical range, from doomy goth metal to Floydy, trippy shoegazing rock. Tracks / performances worthwhile decomposing in a first reaction may be:
    * The Mandylion tracks 'Strange Machines', 'Leaves', 'Eléanor', 'Sand and Mercury' and 'In Motion #1 and #2', from whatever source. Strange Machines is famous for the Pinkpop performance in 1997. Leaves has been performed in many ways throughout the years, including beautiful acoustic / grand piano renditions by Anneke with Danny (Anathema) Cavanagh. For In Motion #1 I'd recommend the TG25 (2014) performance, and for In Motion #2 the performance in the 'A Sound Relief' concert (2005).
    * From the 'Nighttime Birds' album (1997), you could check 'Confusion' performed in Krakow (1997, In Motion DVD) or 'On Most Surfaces' performed at TG25, or the title track, album version.
    * Their album 'How to Measure a Planet' (1998) signified a change in musical direction and was influenced by bands like Radiohead, Massive attack and Dead can Dance. Best know track from that album is 'Travel', which is mostly used for a first reaction using their legendary performance in their TG25 concerts. Other tracks worth checking are 'Rescue Me' (live in the 'A Sound Relief' concert) and 'Probably Built in the 50s' (live in the 2007 'A Noise Severe' concert).
    * The 2000 album 'If Then Else' has a lot of interesting gems as well ... and the 2002 EP 'Black Light District' ... and 2003 album 'Souvernirs' and 2006 album 'Home' ... arghh, it's just too much my man.
Overall, their TG25 performances are all epic and worth full coverage imo, especially 'Travel', 'Waking Hour and 'On Most Surfaces'. Pick one of those for a first get-to-know the band and vocalist, and then decide whether to dive deeper.
Anyway, just see if you get tickled in some pleasant mannerchekcing out some TG and Anneke, and if you do, enjoy them musical and vocal soundwaves my dude! TG fans can definitely assure you, they're exquisite! :^)

For some reason, they don't get on the reaction videos and I don't know why as they are great musicians.

I recommend giving Skillet the Band a listen to. Their song Monster is 🔥 but Last Night is also a hauntingly beautiful song. Their genre of music is rock btw 🎸🎵🎶

Given the overall production value for a band as WT, the cheesy Keyboard sound must've been a cognitive choice. I don't get it, but the composition is pretty good, after all. (Disclaimer: was a fan of WT back in the late 90s.) (later edit:) Maybe a OST/score thingy. It feels so compressed.

TRU... they have gone more synth rock as it must be that quality orchestra production must be WAY to expensive and in this covid time, impossible. FOR Symphonic Heavy Metal greatness sound and performances, concentrate on 1999 through 2009. After that it is Retro 80s Rock style, and now more SYNTH with their RESIST album and single release THE PURGE, which you may like very much for composition of their recent stuff... I also suggest TELL ME WHY from their HYDRA album... for older stuff, the symphonic metal, choose ANYTHING off of their two related albums THE SILENT FORCE and THE HEART OF EVERYTHING..... For the early celtic fairy tale sound, go back to about 1997, ENTER album, and THE DANCE... Very different with different keyboardist and drummer and self taught armature vocalist/fashion designer, Sharon den Adel just starting to do the VOCALIST thing.... in a very haunting ethereal way... this was more akin to the PEARL JAM sound era...... Some VERY interesting stuff, with my favorite being RESTLESS track.

While this is not near my favorite WT track, it is good for what it is, EXCEPT I CANNOT STAND the kazoo sound of that fake synth horn at the beginning.. I imagine some troupe of waif-like people with dirty worn out clothes trudging through a murky countryside with gloomy overcast atmosphere, finding their way to another destination to thrive in, and some dude in front leading the way, with a rag over his head and need for a haircut, blowing on this little plastic toy french horn, about half scale................... creating that TOY sound... drives me nuts. HATE that sound.
I LOVE SHARON... only real reason to listen through this one.

Geebz love ya but how ‘bout a break from this Dungeon and Dragons metal and exploring groups like Silversun Pickups, Interpol, the National and maybe something different like Portishead or Massive attack. Idk just tuning in everyday to this Lord of the Rings nerd metal is killing my interest.
