Wetbed. It is a clear basecoat to help paint blend out easier. This system has very thick paint for a fast coverage so it calls for wetbed application before basecoat.
hey man, just started spraying hitec at the shop i'm at and was wondering if you've tried spraying base with the ls400 supernova. the spies rep was adamant that the 5000 1.2rp is the way to go and that the iwata atomized too much. obviously the kiwami looks like it does great which i have but just curious if i can use my supernova for it with no issues.
I have not sprayed this base with an ls400. but I have sprayed with many other paint guns. Tekna, walcoms, DV1, hvlp satas, kiwami. They all do the job so I would assume your ls400 would as well. They also told me to use The 5500 RP 1.2 which I do have and use. But I like a variety of spray gun. Personally I think it is all user preference.
I’m actually very interested to see how it lays clear as well. I haven’t tried yet. But I will try to get a video together this week and upload it! Thanks for watching!
In this video I had the 3m pps 2.0 cups. Not sure what the adapter number is. But shortly after this video I switched to Sata RPS cups which I am still currently using and like much better.

Yes holographic label is Iwata label of authenticity. It must have this. I know some people who bought from Amazon and was real. I actually bought mine off of eBay.
The dent in the center of the hood really stands out once the clear was applied. 😆

I just got mine 2 I ordered from Amazon and both have the hologram on the guns

First pass is the only pass. 1 full coverage coat with an immediate orientation. Do you spray spies?
