Hi, I just found your channel and everything in your video is exactly what I'm going through. I was diagnosed with Lymphedema, Nerve damage, and a couple more diagnosis. My left leg is very swollen and I can barely walk and my toes are always numb and tingling along with my fingertips and the swelling has now gone to my right leg. My Doctor told me that my Lymphedema was caused due to certain surgeries I've had starting from 2015. I'm going to get a Doppler V(I don't know if that's exactly what it's called) from a Radiologist and then go from there. Your video was in depth and I appreciate you very much. I wish I found your channel a long time ago. Thank you so much for educating me and bringing this to my attention. I'm now going to let my Doctor know what I've learned from you because I'm getting confused with getting so many different opinions about my situation. Once again, thank you very much!

About 15 years ago, an ultrasound was done on the blood vessels of both my legs. In the prone position the blood flow was fin in the veins. As soon as I stood up, all the blood rushed down to my feet. The only thing done then was compression socks that felt like my toes were being cut off, no matter what style. After a short while I stopped wearing them because of the pain. I have no pain with the swelling. No physical therapy or any kind of exercise was ever mentioned. This is the first time that I have ever heard about there being any kind of exercise that may be able to help. Thank you for your explanations.

I started to swell up around my 28th week of pregnancy, and about 4 weeks before my due date my calves and legs, all the way up to pelvis started to swell and my lower legs were so badly swollen that you couldn’t even press them, my skin started to flake and you could see how shiny and scaled my skin looked. I am now 2 weeks postpartum and the swelling got worse after I left the hospital. Especially my lower legs. I have tried so many things to relieve the swelling in my lower legs, it really stinged when something bumped into my legs.. It felt like knives or pins and needles in my legs. I wore the compression stocking for 3 days straight and before putting them on I graciously applied hydrocortisone cream with aloe to hopefully help with skin itching, flaking, and inflammation on the layers of skin. The first couple days the stockings didn’t really show any difference but by the third day I noticed that my lower legs were smaller but it was noticeable that my upper legs were more swollen from the fluid being pushed up, but regardless of this my ankles are still very swollen and almost numb at times. I get tingling as well. I’ve had an ultrasound done, no clots, I have good blood pressure.. I have been stretching, icing, epson bath, and massage. I lowered my sodium intake, I am taking water pills and drinking a lot of water. I have also started to wear compression socks but a lower level of mercury. With the socks on I can finally wear shoes. I am frustrated at this point because my doctor says it should get better eventually but my body needs to flush out the extra fluid, and they said that I am doing all that I need to do. Soooo.. hoping for a miracle, because there is no way I will be able to go back to work like this.

So many good suggestions! I just went to my primary, podiatrist and for the time, a vein doctor for this problem. All those docs are good but somehow this video has helped me more than those docs combined by giving me something to work with (and hang hope on) other than orthotics, sensible shoes, compression socks and elevating my feet.
    Thanks so much! 🙏🏼💕

I agree with going to ER. My first symptoms were a Friday morning and I didn’t go to the hospital until Sunday. The good part is I had the worst blood clot and the best blood clot because it was occlusive. I had zero blood flow in my left leg up to my heart. I had a CAT scan done a few months later that showed no blood flow. So the other veins are doing all the work. It’s a back up system but it’s a very poor one.

Does iron deficient anemia make varicose veins worse and swelling? I’m severely anemic due to fibroids. I’m looking into UFE from a vascular surgeon and hope this takes care of severe blood loss. However I am intolerant to even walking and feel exhausted and my legs feel like I have run a marathon (engorged) but I know I have to be mobile . What can I do?My husband is worried about a thrombo.

It started when I was 17 years old, in age of 28 I had first surgery in 3 method but it not help a lot. I thinking to buy lymphatic drenage massager or cross-trainer. I working physically by 12 hours and my leg's are overloaded. I also have problem with shape my ankles from childhood and I suspect thats why it generated varicose veins and sciatica.

My swelling is because I have occlusive DVT. I got it in 2007 so I’ve been dealing with it for a long long time. The things that bother me is been on my feet for a long time, heat, alcohol, and just being up all day. I pretty much like to recline as much as possible. Nothing helps then I won’t wear compression because for one it’s too hot and for two they really are ugly. I take a water pill because I swell so badly. It does help but not when it’s hot and I’m moving around a lot. I’ve tried just about everything.

I have flat feet and had been wearing athletic shoes with inserts when I went to the fitness center. Due to covid these places shut down and I stopped exercising the way I used to. When one opened back up I purchased new shoes and joined again. After a couple weeks of using the treadmill, rowing machine, bike and other equipment my ankle became swollen, red and painful. I am trying to get an appointment with a podiatrist but so far am not having any luck. I bought an ankle brace and am using a compression sock. I have higher than average blood pressure and slightly over weight. Should loose 20 lbs. or so. I eat mostly fruit, vegetables, nuts, and grains. I drink water and stay away from sugary drinks. I want to get the exercise I feel I need but it is painful.

Have you thought of going to a gym with a pool? You may find that aerobic exercise in water, and swimming, might allow your fitness to gradually improve, while minimising damage to joints, cartilege etc. until you are stronger.
I am a big fan of Glucosamine [with Chrondroitin] to support bone and joint strength.

@@davidlibby7230 Well done for getting it checked out, David. Perhaps have a word with a physiotherapist, as he/she may meet up with you to show you some water aerobic exercises. It would make a lot of sense initially, to have a little supervision - both to give you that sense you know what is / is not going to help, and also so there is someone there who may be more familiar with using a pool for exercises.
I do hope it all goes well. 👍✨

What about simple water retention? I tend to get swollen ankles when I fly (sitting for over an hour) in conjunction with a trip where I ate a bunch of junk food and drank more beer than usual. Does excess sodium/alcohol cause ankle swelling? Usually it goes away 3 to 5 days after I get back on my regular diet and am not drinking (as much 😉) In short, my swelling comes and goes, but my normal condition is not swollen.

I heard about one guy who had electrolyte imbalances. Too much sodium and not enough potassium or magnesium, plus no cardiovascular exercise which he said led to him having swollen feet and legs and going into A-Fib. He said correcting the imbalances and walking every day helped him to start reversing it.

Drew Balance 10835 I'm a 10WW or 2E. They're like big pillows of heaven! They even hug your ankle. I just got done getting fit for custom othotics and a proper shoe and the drew balance was the best for my swollen feet and ankles. I swear you'll love them just the same!

Don’t eat vegetables vegetables caused me a ton of inflammation and joint pain. And when I quit the inflammation and joint pain went away. You need to find out what’s causing inflammation and you have to go on an elimination diet to figure that out.

Nelly, we really appreciate that you came to us for help and we really wish we could help and see you in person. A problem of this nature really does require a proper medical history and in person physical. By getting non-specific advice online, it really can make your problem worse.
For a problem this complex and with so many variables, you really would benefit most from seeing a podiatrist in person.

I have been dealing with swelling in my legs, calves, and thighs and even a little further up into my belly since I went to the hospital a few months ago and they gave me a bunch of fluids to check my kidneys. My kidneys are struggling right now and I can't figure out a way to get rid of this fluid that's all over my body and it's very irritating to my skin because it itches like crazy I'm so unhappy. I'm not sure what I can do to fix this :-(
