  • Coach Driving with James Episode 3
    Starting off at Grove Road we run empty to Devizes Station Road Car Park, a simple run and not very far. We head off down the B3098 road and then take the A360 up to Devizes via Potterne.
    Once at the coach park we then do the return taking the same route, showing how slightly different it can be driving in the opposite direction with some corners being a bit more awkward than it is going the other way

    Would love to see the Bova video in your archive. I used to drive one a good few years ago, was a nice coach. Would bring back some memories.

    Great videos, very helpful and informative as I’m starting my training! Question, do you use a truck satnav to help with small roads or just a normal one?

      Thank you! Yes TomTom 6250 Pro, out of production now, but there is a newer TomTom Pro does a similar thing. If you watch Episode 7 (Rail Replacement Shift) and skip to 6m 30sec I show a demonstration on how it works so you can see what it's like.

    What kind of run are you doing? Scheduled service? Interesting videos! I start PCV practical training in 6 weeks, and will be driving coaches very shortly afterwards on scheduled routes.

    What are the typical hours you would drive in a day? And how long are your rest periods?

    • @james143611
      @james143611  4 дня назад

      That answer could go on for a long post, each day can be different same with rest, but there's working time and driving time which have their own sets of rules, like you can drive for 9 hours, which can go to 10 hours but twice a week, but you can have a 13 hour shift overall, but you could have a 12 hour day that only involves 4 hours worth of driving, an hour or two cleaning in between wherever you are, and 6 hours rest, or you could have 12 hour shift but you are doing rail replacement maybe and driving for 10 hours with just 15 mins and 30 min breaks in between
      Usually a school day shift would be 10 hours, and if there's jobs inbetween then you'll have about an hour or two break in the day

      @@james143611 I’m a bus driver for a living and can work anywhere from 3am - 1:30am the following day. So I was curious if the hours are better or not 😁

      Prop shaft came off, fixed but then next day something else went wrong, that was it sat in back of yard since last July and now just a doner for parts to keep the others going. 20 years old so had a fair lifespan
