    Driven both. Don't let the noise fool you, the Scania is the smoother of the 2 to drive, and the steering/wheel feel so much nicer in the hand, as do the other controls. Nothing wrong with the Volvo but the Scania is far nicer.

      Our local Stagecoach depot in South West Scotland used to operate the Edinburgh services 101/102 and it was 5 Scanias they used on that route, but I remember the driver one evening when we had stopped in at Biggar for the usual 10 minutes chatting to another driver and his criticism of the Scania was that it struggled on the incline (steep hills) and certainly from the point of view of the passenger I always noticed that compared to a Volvo.

      Are you a coach driver? Coz after 5 years on local buses I’m gonna start my coach driving career in ten days so I have some questions not to screw myself on day one with my mentor.

    If I were to compare the Scania v Volvo in a musical sense, I would call the Volvo Queen, whereas the Scania would be say Bon Jovi.
    The Volvo has a very majestic feel to it, everything about says quality, high standards. You get the distinct impression that the people at Volvo are very intelligent and know exactly what it is that they are doing and they do it very, very well.

    My daily coach is an Irizar i6s 14.37 on Scania 450 HP from 2019. The indicator noise is disturbing, but else it's whisper quiet, you can barely hear the engine from the driver seat. There's no rattling from the body or interior.

      That's just an indication of how good the coachwork is and the insulation, which if it's been a National Express vehicle then those are the standards they are aiming for.

    Not a fan of the Volvo hate the massive steering wheel, hate that there is too many gears it can never settle down and I hate the brake and accelerator pedals. However I prefer the heating system on the Volvo its easier to use.

    Does anyone know why these are so rattly and noisy compared to other coaches? The coach that took me from Stansted to central London was a charabanc compared to the Setra I rode on in Austria earlier the same day. Couldn't believe the difference, the Setra was like a Rolls Royce in comparison, smooth and whisper quiet.

    • @iDislikeAlotofThings
      @iDislikeAlotofThings 28 дней назад

      Road quality is likely the answer. If the Setra is in the UK, give it a year or two and it will start rattling.

    Scania all day everyday. I drive these types of coaches for a living so Scania all the way , eco and comfort the best. Volvo may be 1 or 2mph quicker but doesn't make a difference, the dashboard on the volvo is also not as good as the Scania one.

  • @davepenlington9379
    @davepenlington9379 Год назад

    As I've always found to be the case, the Volvo is like a Rolls Royce in comparison, Scanias harsh suspension is appalling. I've never ridden or driven a Scania bus or coach that is any different.

    • @neilburns8869
      @neilburns8869 9 месяцев назад

      In my own experience purely as a passenger a decent Volvo has always been better on an incline than any Scania and I have heard Stagecoach drivers say the same thing about the Scania.
      Whereas the Volvo seems to be most drivers favourite at our local Stagecoach depot. One of my neighbours still drives p/t for them.
