Thanks! I've watched every video you made for the planes I own, and they have helped tremendously. I recently purchased an FMS Viper 70mm V2, because I believe it will help me tune my skills for the Freewing F15, and Freewing F16 Thundebird edition. When I maidened by Viper, I had watched enough to set everything up correctly, however, in light winds, I didn't sufficiently anticipate the plane stalling on a turn. I thought I had enough thrust to get through the turn but did not. I anticipated other factors as the cause (a hot wifi signal interrupting reception, problems with the used receiver I had in the model). Basically it hit the ground and the nose broke off. I've since repaired it, changed and reoriented the receiver, and this time I watched you video that discusses stalling this plane. I was ready in maiden #2 to try again in light wind (
Thanks so much Robert! We really appreciate the super thanks donation. Your experience is precisely why we showed how aircraft stall and how to recover from stalls. The thrust to weight ratio on the Viper 70 (FMS variant) is so high that it's relatively easy to power out of a stall and get airflow over the wings again. It's super common for people to unfortunately stall this jet out and wreck it - and if these videos can help even a small handful of people save money and have more fun flying, then it's worth it for us to continue producing them.
This is a great plane! I’m not a beginner but bought this using your link because I wanted a less expensive jet to challenge and improve my skill. Just maiden her in 25-30 mph gusty conditions and it was great! 126mph (tail wind) using the 4400 SMC HV pack. Thanks for all your vids… inspiring me to expand and test my pilot skills!
Thanks for supporting us, Casey! Hopefully we can give back a little more with tomorrow's vid - "How to be a successful RUclips RC Influencer" - which will go through all of our tips and techniques to build a YT channel with a large following.
Thank you for the amazing detailed landing training!! This video is a must watch for new edf pilots!! I so want this jet! Its fantastic looking and small! Thanks John for another amazing video and great pilot skills!
I've been trying to replicate a stall in my rc plane simulator to know what it looks like but never got to see it. Finally, a video with an explanation! I'm saving this. Thanks alot!
@TwoBrosRC Thanks for that Info. With regard to your tip, not to bank hard (left for landing in the vid) so as to not to lose airflow, would rudder input help (sort of a semi knife edge)? I'm not sure if I worded that properly, but I hope my question made sense.
Finally someone who explains landing EDF’s. Been flying these since 2012 and never really understood what needed to happen for a proper landing. Excellent work
Yep! Which is why we want to see everyone succeed - some other reviewers will just show you that the plane can fly. What we want to do is show you that it can fly *and* show you that you can fly it without wrecking it too. Because knowledge should be shared, and flight / aerodynamics is hard enough already.
Great work on explaining what you are doing on the sticks and giving information to newcomers to the hobby. Looking forward to taking these tips to the field to improve my skills.

How is the turning radius on the new version? The old one and the Horizon Hobby Viper, was bad. It would only turn normally one way. The other way was very minimal. Thanks. Good video!
This is an excellent, high-quality review! I appreciate your organization and the extra landing discussion. The only additional bullet I would like to see in EVERY review is how it handles on grass ops. Getting that insight in a review is hit or miss with mostly misses. Keep up the quality work!
We don't fly from a location that has grass that's suitable for flying, and Vipers are already well-known for handling grass well. This one should do even better with the shock absorbing landing gear, which should make it a good model for anyone regardless of where they fly.
Wow what a great plane! And great flying too. I'd love to have it but since I rarely have a smooth surface to operate off of, I'll be sticking to big-wheeled bush planes for now.
Great video mate, I really enjoyed your take on the Viper. I especially like the patter as you were running circuits! Based on your aviation vocabulary and knowledge I'm guessing you fly full sized aircraft?

Very helpful! Thanks, Jon. I need all the help I can get landing 70mm+ EDFs in the “tree bowl” at Suggs Farm. The stall bit me there with my viper when landing. Minor repairs. Hi, can you translate your flap settings into EdgeTX's servo travel scale? Rather than using percentages like Spektrum, -100 is full deflection in one direction, 0 is centered, and +100 is full deflection in the other direction. If -100 is flaps up and +100 is flaps down, where would your settings be? Or alternatively, what are your settings in millimeters of travel? Thanks!
Hi, thank you for providing the detailed explanation on flying this new Viper from FMS. I have a question regarding to this Viper though. How different is it from the HortizonHobby 70mm Viper? Comparing their physical specs, they look identical. Same length, same wingspan, same lines almost everywhere. The HorizonHobby 70mm Viper, as we know, isn't an real easy model to fly, very easy to bounce and pretty fast speed when landing. Thank you for your answer in advance. Please keep your excellent work which is very helpful!

We'd recommend an AR631 since it has a lot of wiring and you'll want to position the antenna away from it. This jet doesn't come with Reflex, if memory serves.
Hi John -wow you are so quick to reply. So if the AR631 has 6 channels( and all the controls are used up ), how is the gyro connected to reciever and hence the transmitter? Does it appear on the TX under forward programming as an aux channel? Thanks so much for your help.@@TwoBrosRC
I really value your opinion. With EDF jets, what are the best jets for medium grass ops. From your experience can you list the best down to the worst EDF jets that can perform on grass. I currently have the Eflite f 15 hand toss no problem. I also have E flite 70mm Thunderbird. It won't budge on grass. Thanks.
We'd highly recommend finding pavement or smooth dirt to fly from. Grass is terrible for many reasons, most of which relate to the amount of stress that the uneven surface causes to aircraft gear and the mounts that hold them in place. Hello Jon, I truly appreciate all your efforts in bringing a very detailed teaching on how to fly this jets. Getting paid or not, you do a fantastic job with this instructional videos. I do need your help though. Can you share info on what receiver you used in this viper and some setup info please 🙏🏾. Thanks buddy
All the relevant setup info you'll want to follow is in the Viper's manual. We use 150% rates with 50% expo on all surfaces. The receiver is a Spektrum AR637T: bit.ly/3dCjiuO
Nice footage and advice. Ive wanted to get a good all around 70mm jet that will zoom zoom and be aerobatic enough to do tumbles if im getting an itch to get a little crazy. Ive been stuck between getting another fms viper 70 or trying out either the yak130 or the little avanti. Im leaning towards the viper now with the little upgrades and possible tweaks to the airframe that make it handle better. What would you recommened?
This was actually a really helpful video. Basic stuff but I honestly wasn’t that familiar with how a lot of this works because everything I fly is so overpowered. I kinda want the rafale but I think this is a better starting point since my habu probably didn’t teach me much useful stuff… also I think this is the good motor for 8s if I want a little more power.
Surprisingly, it's actually not basic info at all - you'd think so, but a lot of people don't know this. That's why we chose to provide the info on a beginner's jet - so people would know how to avoid these issues to begin with. Thanks for checking it out!
Hey john! thank you so much for the video. I'm planning on buying this jet as my second one after the freewing banshee :) unfortunately with each plane i own i have to buy new set of batteries which makes it even more expensive :( could you please tell me, 1st fms recommend to use 6s 3300mh battery but you are using 3600, please advise me what is the best battery size for me to pick for this jet. unfortunately i cannot buy from smc because it is too pricy for me and i am living too far away for them to ship it. (planning on getting at least 3 batteries) and second question what is the connector that i need for the battery is xt60? i hope so. thanks in advance
I’ve just killed my Habu SS, looking to replace with a model that has flaps, landing gear etc. rather than replace like for like. Would you recommend this over an Avanti or Futura ?
This would make a good second jet. Join us on Discord and look for the #recommended-aircraft channel - there's links to the E-flite Habu for beginners in it.
We'd recommend saving up for an AR631 at minimum - you'll want to put an antenna away from the wiring and battery. It might work but we would not recommend that setup.
It definitely is, but it won't teach you how to avoid stalls. This is why it's not our go-to recommendation if someone is interested in building necessary skills in the hobby.
To the two brothers and all the other guys tuning here. If you are getting started in jets and edf, is the FMS Viper 70mm v2 the weapon of choice? I look forward to everyone's input.
It depends on what you're trying to do. If you want a jet that teaches you to fly bigger and better jets, like a true trainer, the Viper is one of the best choices.
FMS usually does decently well keeping spare parts stocked. Though you'll be hard pressed to really need them, this plane isn't hard to fly at all. It even handled the severe winds we were flying in with ease, surprisingly.
@@TwoBrosRC i dont have too much experience. Only the turbo timber evo and habu sts on 4s. So i hope i can handle it. The upgraded gear is nice since i will be flying off gras
You'll be OK - just don't be afraid to toss it into SAFE if you have a Spektrum setup, and follow the tips we mentioned regarding stalls and landing. It's easy to repair, so don't beat yourself up if something goes wrong. Mistakes are part of the process and how we learn. Feel free to ask for help too! We'll do what we can to help out.
@RC/Lego Guy We're using an AR637T via bit.ly/3dCjiuO - which is a solid choice for this model. You could use an AR8360T but the only advantage to it would be running a trimmable nose wheel. There's no special configuration for this model that we're aware of that's worth the effort.
@@bgblindt Currently yes, because it's in stock and has some nice upgrades. If HH comes out with a new version of it, we'd suggest going for that if you prefer the E-flite trim scheme and BnF setup. If you want this one in the interim, the purchase link to support us is bit.ly/Viper70V2 - regardless of what way you go, this model is fun and we hope you'll enjoy it!
The E-flite version uses a less powerful motor, but it's still a solid jet with good performance. The Avanti gear upgrade is similar but requires something like $80 minimum plus shipping - this is a better deal at the moment. If HH releases another version of the Viper, we wouldn't be surprised if it's similarly priced to this Viper.
@@TwoBrosRC Very good. And as always, thank you very much for the educational and detailed RC plane videos. I think after all's said and done, I'm going to get the mighty E-flight Viper 90mm and call it a day in my search for "my" ultimate sport jet.
@@TwoBrosRC Nice! And I'm a Spectrum guy so I like the AR637TA as it's a big step up from the AR631, it's on the list. I'm throwing this out in left field. As for a "prop jet" I'm also very intrigued with the crazy fast E-flight V-1200 1.2m for the pure adrenaline rush. 🙂
Will the fms 70mm viper fly safely on a 4s battery? Yes, I know the 6s is recommended and yes I know the performance will be less, but will it fly safely on a 4s? I don't want to experiment to find out and then have it crash because it does not have enough power to stay in the air.
Definitely wouldn't recommend it. No idea if it's safe or not, but you'd be missing out on a ton of thrust. Get 6 cell packs if you're planning to fly a 6 cell jet - flying it on underpowered thrust is far more likely to cause a crash.
@@TwoBrosRC I hear ya bro but the plane is not for me. I'm an rc instructor. The plane was given to me as a donation for a 15 year old student I am training. He has some 4 cell batteries already but honestly can not afford 6 cell batteries. So I was hoping maybe the plane could run ok on 4 cell for his benefit. Since it is his first jet he would not miss the extra performance of the 6 cell. I had a Motion Rc Rebel 2 70mm that ran on 4 cell. This Viper weighs almost twice as much so I guess a 4 cell would not work. I'll probably give the kid one of my 6 cells.
I hope you can do a review on the fms viper 90mm sometime. I’m really curious about that plane. Btw I didn’t know you was half Swedish? I’m from Sweden 😊
The FMS Viper is basically identical to the E-flite Viper - the only difference is that it would cost nearly $800 to get it here in the US, hence why it's very unlikely that we'll ever show it. Jon's family is Swedish, or at least his father's side is. That's where the 194cm height comes from!
@@TwoBrosRC ok i understand. 😮 I can order from Ali for like $650 here to Sweden. Nice! You know one funny thing? I’m 194cm too 😂🙈 and I have relatives in USA. 🤔 do you have a crocked little finger? 🙈
Yeah, we're with you on that. We do include some maiden footage in the end, usually, like the bouncing aspect of the model that comes with too much flap scheduling. Otherwise, we show how it flies rather than what it would be like if we'd never flown it before.
You flew the 70mm Blue Angels FMS Viper a few months ago, How would you compare the two. Thanks Jon. I would say you talk too much nit, it's all PACKED with solid information. Keep up the great reviews. Wish someone woul6co.e out with a good Twin Boom Bobcat again, would love to see you fly and review it. ✌️
The “Blue Angels” esq Viper 70mm is v2 also.. the only difference between the “Standard” V2 Viper 70mm and this 15 year anniversary edition is the paint scheme, Landing gear (this is the huge deal) and the front landing gear cover (moulded differently to allow the new gear). The “standard” Blue Angel esq colored version should not be confused with the “original” Viper 70mm.
The landing gear changed from chicken wire to suspension struts, and it received a new paint job. We're also pretty confident that it has reduced stall susceptibility too - not by much, but just enough to be noticeable for us since we've flown four different Viper 70s by this point.
Your comments on accelerated stalls are useful, but not entirely correct. An airplane can stall at any airspeed, any attitude. Stall is a function of angle of attack, not airspeed. The wing load factor has a huge impact on stall speed, which is why a stall in a turn or with abrupt control movements (higher load factor) is more likely. At 60 degrees of bank, the load factor increases by 40 percent (and along with it, stall speed). A stall at greater than 1g load is an accelerated stall. Great channel, just found it and enjoying your reviews!
While we appreciate the compliment, please don't tell us how to run our channel. The music we use is a stylistic choice that our viewers have come to expect over the years. We're sorry that you don't enjoy it, but it's deliberately chosen for the style of video we shoot and we have no plans to change it.
Very nice plane and instructional video but I see you even you as a skilled pilot have some stable flying and landing issues so I don't see this plane as a beginner jet.
@@TwoBrosRC i love the channel but i do believe .if your using a gyro your not truly in control ,and the best way to advance is to fly gyroless , slope soaring teaches the best to read aircraft control. this only refers to rc planes not real one that fly into trees at air shows and crash

Our F-22 setup guide should cover it.
Is it best to put in a spektrum reciever or v
Will the reflex gyro v2 work just as well with my NX10?
It doesn't come with a Reflex gyro, but Spektrum receivers will work with one if you'd prefer to use it.
@@TwoBrosRC Thanks 🙏🏾 Jon. Have you reviewed Freewing F35 V2? If so, can you share the link. Thanks again
Love it
Are there any (major) differences between the FMS 70 and the eflite 70 or are they quite the same?
The FMS variant uses a stronger motor and ESC combination, but doesn't come with a receiver.
Viper 70 all the way. The Yak is great too but it's not as capable as the Viper.
@@TwoBrosRC thanks man. Thats what i was hoping to hear😄
I'm planning on buying this jet as my second one after the freewing banshee :)
unfortunately with each plane i own i have to buy new set of batteries which makes it even more expensive :(
could you please tell me, 1st fms recommend to use 6s 3300mh battery but you are using 3600, please advise me what is the best battery size for me to pick for this jet. unfortunately i cannot buy from smc because it is too pricy for me and i am living too far away for them to ship it. (planning on getting at least 3 batteries) and second question what is the connector that i need for the battery is xt60? i hope so.
thanks in advance
3600 HV packs weigh about as much as 3300 LiPo packs. 3300 should work fine. The ESC uses XT90/EC5.
I’ve just killed my Habu SS, looking to replace with a model that has flaps, landing gear etc. rather than replace like for like. Would you recommend this over an Avanti or Futura ?
Absolutely would given its price point and ease of flight, plus the bonus of training you to fly bigger jets.
@@TwoBrosRC thanks - really appreciate your expert view. Absolutely love the channel. Keep up the great work.
Can I use this to start as my first ever RC plane with no experience at all as beginner
I would like to start from RC jets
This would make a good second jet. Join us on Discord and look for the #recommended-aircraft channel - there's links to the E-flite Habu for beginners in it.
Really enjoying your videos and learning a lot, thanks. One small question, how do you get the flight timer on your videos? ☘️
Thanks! It's a video editing trick.
I figured that much, any way you could share the knowledge or direct to where it could be found?
Google "DaVinci Resolve video timer" which should help.
I am looking at getting this model however I have a Budget. would an AR620 be a decent/good receiver for this plane?
We'd recommend saving up for an AR631 at minimum - you'll want to put an antenna away from the wiring and battery. It might work but we would not recommend that setup.
The great plane
Where can I find your AS3X settings for the 70mm hornet?
In the comments for the 70mm Hornet vid.
how does this compare to the 80mm Futura ? are they pretty much the same since their both sport jets?
They're not even remotely the same. Join us on Discord via bit.ly/TBRCDiscord and we can go over it with you.
@@TwoBrosRC ok thanks
Thanks for your time brother!!
Really helpful your advices, I also follow you on insta, love your videos.
Please keep on!!

Very detailed explanations! In your opinion, is the 70mm f16 more forgiving to fly for a beginner?
It definitely is, but it won't teach you how to avoid stalls. This is why it's not our go-to recommendation if someone is interested in building necessary skills in the hobby.
@Two Brothers Radio Control ok 😊!
@@TwoBrosRC Thank you sir - appreciated
Only thing holding me a bit back now from buing one is I wonder how the spare part avalability on this specific anniversary model will be.
@@TwoBrosRC i do have spektrum so yeah i think ill be fine.
Thanks!
Love to pick one up but they stay sold out😢
Great review, what is the best EDF for newer pilot?
This one is always our pick for a new pilot wanting to learn jets.
What receiver do you use my radio is ix14? Want most out of this if I get it!
@RC/Lego Guy We're using an AR637T via bit.ly/3dCjiuO - which is a solid choice for this model. You could use an AR8360T but the only advantage to it would be running a trimmable nose wheel. There's no special configuration for this model that we're aware of that's worth the effort.
Oh one last thing would you recommend this plane over the Elite viper 70mm?
@@bgblindt Currently yes, because it's in stock and has some nice upgrades. If HH comes out with a new version of it, we'd suggest going for that if you prefer the E-flite trim scheme and BnF setup. If you want this one in the interim, the purchase link to support us is bit.ly/Viper70V2 - regardless of what way you go, this model is fun and we hope you'll enjoy it!
Nice!
As good or "different" than its E-flight counterpart w/Avanti 70mm gear set upgrade?
The E-flite version uses a less powerful motor, but it's still a solid jet with good performance. The Avanti gear upgrade is similar but requires something like $80 minimum plus shipping - this is a better deal at the moment. If HH releases another version of the Viper, we wouldn't be surprised if it's similarly priced to this Viper.
@@TwoBrosRC Very good. And as always, thank you very much for the educational and detailed RC plane videos. I think after all's said and done, I'm going to get the mighty E-flight Viper 90mm and call it a day in my search for "my" ultimate sport jet.
@@davidgerlach1132 Sounds good! If you'd like to support us, you can pick up the Viper 90 via bit.ly/3JGRS30 at no additional charge!
Yes, I know the 6s is recommended and yes I know the performance will be less,
but will it fly safely on a 4s? I don't want to experiment to find out and then have it crash
because it does not have enough power to stay in the air.
😂😂😂😂....Barrel Roll on take off....Show-off..!!!😂😂😂
How much mm has the wingspan ??
1.1m
Nice tuto bro 🎉😊 there isn’t any reverse on that new FMS jet ? 😩
No thrust reverse unfortunately.
@@TwoBrosRC 😢
I want this sooo bad. But fms dont ship to Norway :/ is there a way to get it for me?
That's a good question - you'd probably have to try ordering from FairRC.
@@TwoBrosRC nope checked there also.
AliExpress from China
I need to come up there...do you do lessons?😂 Im down in wilmy
That's a bit of a trip, innit? But we could definitely help you out if you're in the area at some point.
It's only like 2 hours lol I go up to tower 19. That's where my ultimate came from
I mean hangar 18 lol
Share the Buying link...
It's in the description.
I like videos which are NOT the maiden flight; after one knows the plane.
They're very similar and use the same power system. The V1 stalls easier, though, and is definitely more difficult to fly and land.
What was the battery levels after the flights??
Storage voltage. 3.8ish.
Vipers dont need any gyros really it's a simple jet but great man
We didn't say it needed one. We said we're using one.
Say, what’s the difference between the E-flight Viper 70mm and the FMS Viper 70mm v2? Other than the landing gear of course! :)
The landing gear changed from chicken wire to suspension struts, and it received a new paint job. We're also pretty confident that it has reduced stall susceptibility too - not by much, but just enough to be noticeable for us since we've flown four different Viper 70s by this point.
Angle of attack is what it’s all about
Seems a little more advanced than I’d want to start with. Probably should start with something simpler.
I need more space in my house. 😅
Thanks! We're pretty sure that we covered most of this info in the vid though.
Great video, but the background music is not needed.
It's a pretty windy day. Watch our recent landing tutorial and you'll see easy it is.
I belive beginner planes should be cheaper. If you are a beginner, no way you spend 500 dollars on a plane
This jet isn't $500.
nearly any jet with a gyro is a learner jet
Be sure to tell that to modern fighter pilots.
@@TwoBrosRC i love the channel but i do believe .if your using a gyro your not truly in control ,and the best way to advance is to fly gyroless , slope soaring teaches the best to read aircraft control. this only refers to rc planes not real one that fly into trees at air shows and crash
there is clearly a vague understanding of the word "inexpensive" here
$299 for a 70mm jet is inexpensive. There may be a vague understanding on your part of what RC aviation costs.
To fast.
🆗
You're too intense man. Calm down and enjoy the flight.
This is the weirdest critique we've ever gotten. Thanks?
