  • So many great memories from when our girl was younger. She is growing up too fast. We found some video clips from that were used for her Autism diagnosis. Braylee is still the same awesome girl before and after the day she was diagnosed.

It is amazing to see all these children being diagnosed early with Autism. It took 21 years for me to be diagnosed. I guess in the 90's (when I grew up) they didn't know much about Autism

    • @TheWeeFamily
      @TheWeeFamily  5 лет назад +6

They are definitely able to diagnose much earlier than in the past and it’s very beneficial to the young kids with autism.

@@TheWeeFamily yes. I'm wondering if maybe in 2003 they misdiagnosed me with Attention Deficit Disorder, I was 13. 8 years later I was diagnosed with Autism, not as severe as Braylee or even Abbie (Fathering Autism), or Noah (Our Landing Crew), or Liam (Growing up Gantt(I think that's how it's spelled)). I asked my mom (grandma who raised me) if there were any milestones I didn't hit when I should have and she doesn't remember now, as I was a baby 28 (almost 29) years ago

It’s very possible that it was misdiagnosed. But on the plus side, you are diagnosed now and can better understand with that information

Beautiful video, wee fam! I don’t think you realize how impactful it is that people like you are showing the world a glimpse into your lives. As I said previously, my grandson is going to be assessed soon. What was a terrifying prospect for all of us a few months ago is now much less daunting. What a beautiful little girl. 💜She reminds me so much of my daughter. My little one is almost 17 months and will be assessed by the doctor soon. After her first meeting with early intervention the team told us that they are leaning toward thinking she does not have autism, but she reminds me so much of Braylee and how she plays (and not always responding to her name). Regardless of what happens my Tyranda is the best thing that ever happened to me and I love her more than I thought anyone could love anything. My best to you and your wonderful family.

    5:45 - Staicy “ you want more blocks? “
Braylee be like: **I’m fine I just tear them apart and build them up again** 😂❤ I loved that part.
Also I’m impressed with how good she builds with the blocks, like she know hot it works and her mom needed to help a few times. But like my nieces at that age just keep putting them in there mouth or throw it away.😂❤ but I know every kid is different some how. I’m also autistic btw and I’m now a young adult. I love watching your videos, old as new, I’m learning a lot of the autism spectrum and I see a few similarities between me and braylee with stimming and stuff so your videos actually help me a bit to like realise and understand my own autism. Also I love how wonderful parents you are to her and make every second of her life the best you can give her, truly amazing loving parents!!❤❤❤ braylee is lucky to have you as parents❤❤❤

It makes me so happy that Braylee was able to get diagnosed so early. Autism services have come a long way. I remember when my best friend at the time was diagnosed (we were somewhere between 4-7) and my mom sat me down and had a talk about how this isn’t something you can tease someone about and that it’s why he did certain things differently. I remember hearing my mom and his mom talking about how they wonder if it was vaccines that had caused it (this wasn’t long after that hoax came out)

When I went to kindergarten in Austria in the 80s, there was a little girl, Marlene, that would come to join us for short periods of time, always accompanied by her Mum or Dad. I remember being told that the reason why she had difficulty talking or would have frequent meltdowns was that "She doesn't know the difference between herself and the world". It may not be an accurate description but I thought about it for years and it really shaped my understanding of how everyone's perception is different.

I'm loving the baby) toddler Brayle videos/pics. My daughter did all the same things but not til she was a little older. We didn't notice anything different til she was about 2/2.5 n her pediatrician kept saying everything was fine. Then finally when she was 3 he said take her to Infants n Toddlers for her language delay n they left me to Child Find which led me to Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore where she was diagnosed 2 months before turning 4 after a year in the waiting list. She had already started preschool at 3 n began OT n speech in school before she was officially diagnosed with autism because before that they diagnosed her as developmentally delayed. Her's is considered moderate but her n B are alot alike.

Hello there o/ Nice to meet you. I have been watching some videos on your channel since months (my first encounter was from the short where Braylee plays with a grass, it's very cute!). This video then included along the watch, and no matter how many times I visited it, it give me goosebumps and strong feeling that I must also move forward.
Long-short story from me, I live in a city (diff country from you) where autism seem not be a well known topic, so I almost feel clueless about it by myself before. But during around my toodler age too, coming from other country I was vaguely diagnosed with it + ADHD. I say vague because it seem they're not really seeing it in me (they said I still give a kind of contact with my parent), they give question mark in the diagnosis paper. Growing up, when I was little I don't think I care much about this, but the more time passes I feel like having a hard time to communicate, even with my family members. I didn't stim much, I verbal and when comes to writing I will do by much, but it feels really hard to let my mind out, sorting the correct word (the doubtful question in head is this the normal?) feels hard. ... Being honest too it feels really weird if I say "I grow up". I always feel like I need to be take care of despite my age (I'm 23 as writing this), my kind of interest is also feel different to what other people around me consider as 'trend'.
So with my best I'm keep looking. In the last 1-2 years, the word autism and how it needs more attention feel like so much (a thing that I must confirm) to me. Until this point I was typing a paragraph draft, but it feels very messed up and this part may become a sensitive one, so in that case, I'd like to apologize in advance 👉👈 But it's like, I'm still not sure if I have autism (and it's hard in here to rediagnose), but even so, at the end I really want to know more. When people say autism is a spectrum (or at least it's different in each person), it's really interesting and made me feel like something strong in heart. And when I look at videos in your channel, I also feel something like this. When Braylee grows, making progress in life, it really made me feel touched. So it's like my 'identity seeking' and her growth somehow feel 'connected'. This may be a weird and unreasonable way to look from your channel, but I really mean it when I say I feel so much when watching videos from your channel.
Finally connecting to how this specific video also give me strong feelings, it's the message like, "Even when you're different, it's sure that you are loved, and you surely have gave something to people who loved you." (seeing genuine laughes from Braylee feels very heartwarming) Then like, although I can't exactly recall my memory in this (video's) age range, in some part of the video I feel like, "I may have this kind of 'world' in my past" (obviously not the same world with Braylee if this makes sense, but like having a world that only I can see), it's a really helpful documentation. The Wee Family has become one of an existence that feels like saving my life.
Braylee is a wonderful and sunshine-like child. I also saw the redirect video from this (one which records from Braylee POV), that video also makes me feel happy, I feel like learning more. You guys are also the great parents, it's really great to know that Braylee have such a caring parents, thank you so much for creating this channel and spreading a lot of awareness genuinely. (... You guys. The dad and the mom- H-how do I address in formal because like, sir and lady?? Because I can't write it like "Mr and Mrs are also great parents" I think- A-awkward english time english it's not my first language actually- :panik: AAKH-- I'M SORRY AGAIN-)
Then y-yeah I'm just- /hides in corner/ /shy/ (I'm sorry for coming like a random person with anime pfp and JP like name because of my interest- if you want to address me you can use "Adissa") (I'm sorry too because I also came with this lengthy comment and using this kind of languages) ... But I recently always feel like I have to thank you all, and this really feel like one of place where my guts is like "Maybe I can actually tell something and I have to do it." , and before this become any longer, thank you again and I wish the whole family to have great days ahead. Stay being awesome ❤

As I was watching that video you said was used in her original evaluation at almost 2. I don’t see any issues.. she just seems like a quiet smart little girl whose attentive and playing with her blocks!
It Confuses me because each video I watch of kids who are showing signs and stims... just seems like normal toddlers to me! Some are shy, some are outgoing.. like there’s such a difference between each and every toddler and different personalities... how do you determine what’s what?

I am not an expert, what I can see is in that video she didnt look to her mum. She plays by herself all the time, even with the mum clapping, saying "well done", talking to her, she ignored her mum and played alone. Normally a tipical todler will look to the mother and share what they are playing/doing/learning

How old was she on the powerwheel? We been trying to get my son to ride one forever he just doesn’t get how to push the pedal to make it go

I want to say she was either almost or just over 2 years old? That was the extent of her powerwheel skills. She really didn’t use it much other than that one time.

Thanks for the response We have rigged them up before with tape and bungee cords so the pedal would stay Dow and the wheel would go in a circle but we discovered they make one with parental controls we def gona get him one lol he loves being in motion

Yes! I’ve seen those ones with parental control. The one we had was technically a “quad” and had a small push button on the handle.

How old was she in the beginning clip? The one where David was talking to her

I think she was somewhere around 2-4 months old at that time

I was just wondering cause she seemed like she was trying to talk.
Love the video btw...I always ask austim parents when was the first time they started to notice something different and if they had any developmental delays early on. My brother has autism on the higher end of the spectrum and my baby boys half sister has austim as well. She can speak but has a lot of violent stims and pinches herself if she gets upset in anyway. She will say things to strangers without a care in the world if it might be rude and doesn't understand that she shouldn't talk to strangers. She has no fear at all, climbs anything and everything...walks right up to animals.
I'm preparing myself in case my boy is on the spectrum and researching things to look out for and ways to help him cope if he does end up on the spectrum. :)

You have benefit of having the exposure and experience at least to be on lookout for it which is good. We didn’t really have any knowledge of autism before Braylee. Looking back saw signs at in fairly early infancy like multiple things 5-6 months. We were sure something was up and I was pretty sure it was autism around 11-13 months and she started in home therapy by 15 months. Some of our earliest identifiers were that she only played with things in pairs, she wouldn’t play functionally with toys, just dump them and put them back repeatedly or just bang them together, she had must stronger OCD tendencies when she was younger (before diagnosis at least), never tried to get help or show us something she found interesting (joint attention), didn’t smile in response to being smiled at, didn’t respond to her name (still doesn’t really), just lots of small things added up. For us, Braylee had so many clear signs that there wasn’t really a question.

AUTISM IS A SUPERPOWER WHEN YOU CAN UNDERSTAND IT. THE CONSCIOUSNESS LAYS ITS FOCUS ON THE EMOTIONAL SIDE AND THAT IS BEING FULLY FELT. AND A PERSON WHO FEELS FULLY IS VERY MUCH IN ITS EMOTIONAL INNER FIELD. IT IS LIKE DOING MATHS AND YOU ARE SO ENERGETICALLY INTO IT THAT YOU CANNOT FOCUS ON OUTER INFLUENCES. MAYBE JUST THE ONE THAT YOU PUT YOUR ATTENTION ON. IS LIKE MEDITATING EMOTIONALLY ONTO A FIELD. LETS SAY YOU REED A RECIPE AND YOU WANT TO UNDERSTAND, YOU ALSO DON'T LIKE YOUR KIDS TO DISTRACT YOU. YOU ARE REEDING AND THAT TAKES YOUR FULL ATTENTION. AND PEOPLE WITH AUTISM JUST PUT FULL ATTENTION ONTO WHAT THEY LAY THE FOCUS ON. ALSO A BIT LIKE WATCHING AN INTERESTING MOVIE....LIKE ALL PEOPLE WATCH YOUR RUclips FEED AND THEN YOU ARE FULLY INTO IT. IN A SENSE YOU DO NOT EVEN EXIST CAUSE YOU ARE "SUCKED" INTO THE MATTER. YOU FULLY WANT TO FEEL IT AND SEE IT TO UNDERSTAND IT. THAT IS THE SAME. IN A SENSE ALL ARE AUTISTIC WHEN THEY WATCH INTERESTING TV.
