I am on the spectrum. I stim, there are lots of foods I can’t eat as well as fabrics I can’t touch or wear . I’m a terrible sleeper in facts it’s the hardest part of having autism for me( because when I’m tired my symptoms worsen). I get overwhelmed in stores and large crowds. With that being said there is hope . I am a productive member of society. I have a full time job , a house a car . And I have raised two amazing daughters. Diet for me is huge I’m a vegan and try to eat Whole Foods . My symptoms are lessened when I eat well and when I have a strict routine.

Shara cy I’m sure with you by his side he will flourish 🥰. The hardest thing about having mild “ symptoms “. Is that people don’t know how hard the person is working on the inside . So that way the world can perceive them as mild . I just want to show the world as well as new parents that hearing their child has autism isn’t the end of the world . I’m sure your son is amazing 😊 and having a label doesn’t change that .

    • @sharacy889
      @sharacy889 5 лет назад +8

@@kymrobinson9589 I cannot thank you enough. All medical professionals have told me no or he is in the mild to no signs group or his famous diagnosis of Devolpmental Delay (he has mild hearing loss as well). Though a part of me was always afraid of him having any disability, through people like you I know we are going to be ok. I always thought i dont want anything to be "wrong" but the truth is I dont want him to live his life pretending to be something he is not... so I embrace his quirks when possible, follow up with ALL appointments, check ups, reviews but most importantly we embrace a new way of life that fosters his learning pattern and ensure he is confident, independent and happy.

It has been hard work but when I see how she is now at 31 I am so proud how she has coped along the way. She has a job, drives, and has many wonderful friends all with some form of learning difficulty, she could not cope with mainstream friends, her brain doesn't function the same way. I just want to say thank you to you and other mothers of autistic children sharing on this platform. Your experience is so similar to what we've been going through with my 3 year old. Even had his hearing checked. He's slowly using more words, but the tantrums have been out of this world since he was 2. I understand the pain you feel, because I feel it too. Ir's not their fault, or our faults, and we try to not compare. I am a preschool teacher and my son was in my class prior to quarantine. It was so hard seeing him unable to interact with peers, or engage in things as a class. But this video is reminding my that I am not alone. And that I am not at fault, autism happens to anyone. The hardest is seeing him hurt himself out of frustration, even at 18 months old to see a baby trying to bash their head into the wall, it's heartbreaking as a mother. Luckily we've worked through those intense emotions.

I just want to let you know that you both parents are amasing in parenthood.
Because most of us, as parents, don t think that our children have to have an especific education in order to develop their capacities.
The autism as a condition, on the other hand, has demonstrated how important and helpful is the fact that parents get involved in their children s education.
Beleive me, you may think that there is a lot to work getting to educate your boy, but your way is the right way to educate every children, despite any condition.
You did and sure, you are still doing great.

Thank you so much. I’ve been so overwhelmed lately cause doctors keep telling me everyone develops differently but there is a clear difference between a meltdown and a normal toddler tantrum and she turned two in July and still isn’t sleeping through the night. We struggle to go out to eat as a family and get so many looks when she gets over stimulated and we even try to go during the week when there aren’t many people there. This video has given me the strength to try again with her doctor cause they don’t see any of it. She has seen how frustrated people can get when she is overwhelmed and so in a new environment with different people around she doesn’t show her true self as much and then melts down when we get home she struggles with being in her car seat so we always have to keep toys and snacks in the car but we never know what is going to work on what day and don’t get me started on how hard the days are when our schedule is different. I have been trying to work with her and find what works for her but everyone around me keeps telling me to just discipline her and that I can “out last” her melt downs when I have to take what makes her comfortable like juice or milk at night without any guidance on how to replace that coping skill. Thank you so much for these videos they are really helping me to not feel like a failure as a mom so often ❤🙏🥹

I did not cry tears of sadness, I did not grieve for a child that I could've had because I already had the most uniquely perfect child who brought me so much joy and love every day. A love that doesn't need words, he reminds each and everyday how beautiful the small things in life are. I cried tears of joy and relief on the day of my son's diagnosis, it was a validation of identity for him and a celebration of better things to come. I too was determined to build a connection that was not coming typically with my son as well. Building a bond through play is about the best way to break into their world. For me, I just did what he liked with him, even if I thought it was silly. His stems, like running in circles, stacking items, and lining things up were the first ways, and it worked! Also, when be started speech therapy, I was always right there involved and continued it when the therapist wasn't there! God bless you and your family!

We has improved so much through diet, removing toxins from the home and through brain balance. I am truly grateful to see him no longer struggle with things he used. Before he stuttered and wouldn’t be able to finish a sentence, he would scream when things upset him or scared. He know longer does that and he will give me details about things and talk to family members! Good for you for giving him tools for a better life! My son screamed when he was 2 days old when I put him in the baby swing and after 3 days of trying it I gave up because he screamed when I would turn it on.

Everyone treats him like it's some sort of disability and I just can't see it that way because he is so smart with some things that I don't care that he's not potty trained or doesn't talk yet. I see him doing other things way beyond his years and we have an amazing bond as well like you do with your children. After reading so many specialist books, none of it seemed to help but when I stumbled on your video's and tried some of the little tricks you've tried with your children I saw improvements almost instantly. Keep educating yourself about the diagnosis. Your intuition as mother is never wrong. Your not by yourself, it's a journey you and your child are navigating together.

Girl, it's hard and it is hard to talk about sometimes. I just remind myself of all my son's uniqueness and what I love about his autism( carrying pumpkins and carrying letter "0" blocks everywhere). The painful screaming meltdowns are the worse and people just don't understand.

Calais McNeely A lot of people don’t understand that’s why autism awareness is very important. And building a community of like-minded parents to understand what we are going through gives us strength x

I am 33 years old and am starting the process of assessment for ASD for myself next month. Not for my benefit, but for the benefit of my 6 year old daughter who was recently diagnosed with autism. I want to do everything I can to help her negotiate this world, to know she is not alone. That knowledge alone would have helped me so much growing up. We are certain our 3 year old son is also autistic. Our middle child is so much like her dad and is the calm in the middle of this wonderful whirlwind that is our family. It is almost impossible for other people to understand unless they are autistic or have autistic children themselves. Thank you for sharing ❤️

I just wanted to say Thank you! My son is 3 in Dec, we are awaiting a diagnosis, everything you have said in this episode has meant so much. I realise we have a long road ahead and at times i'm at breaking point and feel very alone, other times I feel like i can take on the world to help him. We are doing play therapy and OT and supplements, my son's diet sadly is very limited - so diet is challenging, but I'm doing what I can to help him. I'm tuning in every Sunday now x Thank you

My friend's daughter only says "I care", but she actually means that "she is scared". She says that to express "she doesn't like something, or not agree, or afraid of something or wants her favorite toys back" she is almost 4 years old, but never asks the WHY. I want to tell my friend about the little girl, but it's hard for me to open up. My daughter is younger than the girl 3 months but they are completely opposite. I don't know if she has autism or speech delay. Her signs:
    - spinning
    - jumping
    - running around
    - doing repetitive things
    - line up objects
    - not response when someone calls
    - indirect eye contact
    - flapping hands when excited
    - speech delay
    - making EH EH sounds
    - enjoy playing alone
    - enjoy high place
    - not like changing habit. Such as she will not let you scroll up her shirt sleeve, or wearing long pajamas will make her cry to die.
**but she is happy, smile a lot too. She says "Hello" to people.
