Nice work explaining the Ark Gravity BFS! I just picked this one up, paired with a Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse and came close to the same conclusions you did. Keep up the good work!
That's good mate! If u need, u can check out my how to cast video featuring the Tatula 100! All my my magnetic bait casting reels are tuned the same way, and all reels explored the same way to learn the braking system! From there, I can easily know what the braking setting for my casting style, setup and lures used! 👌👍
There are BFS reels on the market that were released "over braked" and "under braked". Some you've reviewed on your channel. With the 3 rotor cup adjustments will allow a very wide range of braking. From a very light, normal, and very heavy braking profiles. Shimano has the removable button magnet so their FTB brakes can handle a wider range of lure weights. It sounds like rotor cup setting II is the braking profile that most people are already accustomed to.
I suspect brake III is for heavier lures. If someone wanted to cast a 1/2 oz lure with a BFS reel. And brake I is for people with really good thumb control that use almost no brakes. The reel has a wide range of braking force to satisfy most people.
Same reel as Arise Air. See RUclips. They work with Habio on building reels, as you know (icast video). But fantastic informative video as usual. Just got my Arise Air so valuable info for me. Thanks 👍🐟
Yes sir! I am familiar with the brand. Their reels were pretty much not worth the time in the past until recently they partners with Ark. The arise is designed by ark, just know that!
What rod should i pair this reel with? I picked up the ark bfs and looking for a good all around rod to throw multiple diffrent baits on the same setup. Reel is very slick!!!
Any of the Tsurinoya Dragon Rods would work. This reel is great on UL and L, right out of the box. If you want it as an All Rounder, the L power Dragon can do both single open hooks and trebles.
U40 Cork Sealer is what I used to use. I ran out and have stopped buying em since I have a lot of rods coming in lately lol. But I only stopped cuz my last jar dried up. lasted a long time!
I don't see why this reel can't do inshore fishing with the proper rinsing after each trip and proper maintenance conducted based on the level of fishing you do. Priced well to try this and their other reels
@@rawrfishingThank you for the insight Jimmy! Would you recommend this over the SLX BFS for that application? I’m going back to SEA next year, and will try fishing on the mangroves for tarpons and barramundis. Was thinking about getting the SLX but this reel catches my eyes 👀
@@rawrfishingCool! How much line can you spool in this reel? Cause I will fish from the banks too, do you think it can hold enough line to do some distances casting? Thanks for answering! I really appreciate it 😁
More line means less distance usually. I spooled on 125 ft of 0.6 gou and it can still have more... Way more! Unfortunately my box got no details since I got it prerelease lol.... U Can check the specs on their website for line capacity. Do note that this is 28mm spool, not intended for super distance for light lures

Sweet! Hope you enjoy your new reel!
Thanks jimmy, helps me out a ton. I’m going to set my brakes to II and that should cure my backlashing. I slayed with it this morning

That's right! I think we could potentially lower the amount of braking power overall for this reel just slightly. Then we got a crazy reel for Jimbo
Dang I can't wait to get that reel...putting it on my new kistler hunt series 6', 4xul rod.
Amazing Reel! You will love it
Jimbo brother it came in today. I got my Diawa Gekkibijin PE. I thank you for your videos on it and the Alphas.
Rock on! It's a great reel. Enjoy
great job Jim
Thx mate! I appreciate it

It's likely, but I don't see myself using i5 for bfs. Especially since we have a 28mm spool, not gonna be tossing the heavy.

@rawrfishing thanks man! In the stream the other night did you say hope to have back in stock in a month??
Yes. Should be coming in as there's the estimated arrival when BFE ordered. If things goes well, we can start the season with some Tsu rods back!
Off topic was wondering do you cork seal any of your rods...thinking about doing it.
U40 Cork Sealer is what I used to use. I ran out and have stopped buying em since I have a lot of rods coming in lately lol. But I only stopped cuz my last jar dried up. lasted a long time!
@@rawrfishing Thanks...going to get me a bottle never try it...hopefully everything turns out great! Thanks again!
What do you thing the best bfs reel for 1/8 and 1/4 ounce baits for salt water fishing?
Been loving the alphas SV tw 800s. Zephyr is fine too. Reason are the larger spools for longer casts!
Would you recommend this reel for inshore saltwater fishing?? Or is there any recommendations within the same price range? :)

This reel will cast lighter lures out of the box. So if u need to go below 2 grams this reel is better for ya

How does gravity brakes work?
0:49 Gravity Brake Control Explained
Ah. Missed it on my route around the lot.
Ur driving and watching my stuff? :o
At work on foot.
Ahh! Foot soldier!
its inevitable. cdm taking over bfs.
Would u consider them CDM?
@@rawrfishing u right. i worded that wrong. made in china taking over bfs!! lol
There we go! But I can see Haibo getting more popular now since they are partners with Ark!
@@rawrfishing yeah i might just save $40 and get the haibo.
They also got other versions! Different spool depth, weight for different finesse fishery
