    I like how all the videos of Ozzy without Randy in the band are high definition. And feature close ups of the guitar playing.

    Love Randy absolutely a beast and a beautiful human being, But this guy is from Saturn. He isn't relying on pinches a little whammy and a peddle

    I was there!!!! trust me it did not sound like the way this video does. this was a bad recording thats all . jakes sound was impressive to say the least . this recording was done with microphones not inline therefor you get a lot of extra noise . but live it sounded state of the art .

    With all of the firing within this band, I wonder how long Randy Rhodes would have lasted......Does not make sense to me to get rid of this amazing guitarist Jake E Lee. I just don't understand it????

      I think eventually,if Randy stayed that is, Oz wouldve just let him choose the band members.Like a musical director.

      Ozzy didnt become a revolving door for guitarist until after Randys death. After fill ins came in then Brad Gillis to Jake E Lee, Ozzy figured out that talented guitar players are out there and they can pull off Randy's material quite effectively and sometimes better (Jake), he didnt need to nesssarily stick to any one member indefinitely, after all it wasnt the Sabbath days anymore and the band was named after him, it was his brand, merchandising, publishing, corporation...etc...he treated it as a business with employees that got hired and then eventually fired at his will without any warning. Plus the revolving band member tactic fell into his trickery of stamping his name over song writing rights and royalties and pretty much him owning every share of profitable consumer goods that were sold under his name.....well him and the record company which back then was CBS/Jet Records. They gave Jake song rights on Ulimate Sin but didnt like the cut of their profit earnings, so after the tour finished fired him and said to themselves it was bad business to share profits with the hired help....we should know better.
      When you have one guy branding himself (Ozzy) its not your traditional 4 guys starting out in a basement evolving and processing musical ideas together in an organic state growing this thing to a larger than life product and all four members equally share in the success their band may have. Ozzy did that with Sabbath and in his eyes, they royaly fucked him kicking him out one day without him having a choice in the decision. Ozzy claims he got wiser from that experience and that would never happen to him again. Leaving a bad taste in himself that he doesnt owe any loyalty to no one after what he went threw with Sabbath, which he thought were guys that he could trust and were family.

      Rhoads was out of there - apparently they worked out a deal for a third studio album and what would be the Speak of The Devil album. Then he was gone. They would have screwed him I'm sure through all of that and it would have ended in lawsuits.
      Tommy Aldridge said he told Randy right before he died, "Randy the only way you're getting out of these contracts is if you die." So sad.

    Nobody does those pinch harmonics like Randy! Jake is great too.

  • @MasterSumai
    @MasterSumai 2 года назад +6

    Now, have Zakk do this song, he'd put in about 40 of those overplayed & annoying pinch harmonics before the completion of the first verse. And then dozens of mini solos throughout the whole song.
    Jake is the best & always the be the best replacement for Randy. 😁

    i prefer this version of I Don't Know. During the Ultimate Sin tour, and particularly, on The Ultimate Ozzy video concert, Don Airey's keyboards overshadowed Jake's guitar work in I Don't Know, and every song. I couldn't stand it! A bad decision by Ozzy to drown the music with keyboards. 😥

    i took lessons for a few months from randy in 1978 , and seen him in both QR and Ozzy , and Jake in Ozz as well. Randy really didnt need effects people to do his playing i know from first myself , Jake and Brad did a great job to fill his shoes , bottom line thou randy is a great untapped short lived guitarist , that should be in the rock and roll hall of fame , not only because of his playing , but remains a legend for his work and song writing and perfection. Can you talk about rock guitar players , without randy rhoads EVER coming up in conversation? No.

    • @1251wire
      @1251wire 6 лет назад

      jeffblacky as much a Jake fanatic as I am...you're right...I still look up to Randy for inspiration sometimes and yes it would b foolish to ignore his contribution along his peers at that point in time and to this day. Indisputably.

      If Jake was the guitarist for blizzard I don’t believe we would even know who Ozzy is today. He would have been the first vocalist for Sabbath with a failed solo career.

      We all talk about celebrities that died young tragically. Randy was great, but his status was boosted by his passing, Jake was better.

    Jake Kills Live....RR did in fact use a bunch of effects...no one knows how RR's style would be considered today...RR did use horrible judgement and was foolish to fly that day...maybe even selfish....well all he did was leave his fans wondering how good he 'could have been'. With only 2 albums w/Ozzy, just paved the way to Brad G., Jake E., Zakk, Gus G.....all have their good and less than good shows playing live....."should a kept my feet on the ground - Waiting for the sun to appear."

      i agree jake kills live. randy murdered live. randy genocided live if jake killed. simple. randy is the greatest ever. it wasn’t the best judgement, but he wanted to take pictures of the sky for his mother. other people flew before him. don’t see how taking pictures of the sky for his beloved mother is selfish? you’re just being a dick man. this is from 11 years ago so i don’t expect you to see this, but come on man. have some respect for the man. those first 2 ozzy albums are the only good ones. randy’s short catalog still proves to be the best composed albums of all time. randy the goat. randy is the greatest to ever do it. greatest musician of all time. stop calling the deceased selfish and have some respect bro. rip randy we all miss u. RR♾🖤🤍🖤
