Randy is directly responsible for millions of people picking up guitars and learning to play.
Randy is directly responsible for Ozzy not going broke post Sabbath. Now Ozzy is a gazillionaire and Randy's dead. We live in a very cruel world indeed.
Randy Rhoads is not dead. He's actually Mike Bloomberg.
I Am one of these.

Bravo nice performance your the best Ozzy Osbourne .
Ozzy truly looked happy when he played with randy. R.I.P.

Randy's talent here is demonstrated by his ability to create unique phrases and fills using a Les Paul without a tremolo. No dive bombs, pull ups, flutters etc, just natural phrases and fills.
No one is as creative and technically talented as him
Absolutely majic Ozzy with Sabbath and Ozzy with Randy we are blessed

Interesting comment because, two of them were not supposed to be there. Of course, Rudy and Tommy were great and went on to great things in Music.
The original line up was Lee Kerslake on Drums. Who was an incredible drummer, and the person who wrote the Drum Tracks. Also, Bob Daisley was the original Bass player who wrote most of the music and lyrics to not just this album but, much of Ozzy's work thereafter.

I love this low tech presentation. It feels like you just stumbled across the greatest local band ever playing on public access.
this is better than the fucking album...you can't say that to many...
This was recorded in Rochester NY on 4/28/81 at the public television studios on State street.
I love how stoked Ozzy is about Randy. He’s not threatened by him or worried about being outshined by him. One of the many reasons I love Ozzy so much.
I lived through this era as a teenager. Ozzy took a massive risk to make and front a new band on a very tight budget. This footage is from after hours television from Rochester, NY in the middle of exhaustive touring. The band just replaced bassist Bob Daisley with Rudy Sarzo (at Randy's insistence) and they had a lot to prove at the time. Ozzy gave everything to make this band work and frankly was just happy to rock and have hard earned success with talented musicians that he adored. Ozzy of course was mortified with Randy's death but played on through interviews and live shows with incredible courage to continue through the changes to come. Even in 2022, he has yet again another serious album of new material. We were truly lucky that Jeff Beck played so beautifully on Ozzy's latest album. Ozzy is the uncompromising original thinking rocker to the core despite any drama that has followed him through the years.
Long live Ozzy! Thank you for making my life better through your music.
@@johnkeller5163 kerslake was the drummer on the first two solo Ozzy albums. You must mean Bob Daisley ?

Still one of the best guitar players of all time
The best lead guitarist I have ever seen live... and I've seen a "few"
And always Will be
Even though I never knew him, I love and miss him everyday. He is the reason I ever attempted to play guitar. Every note mattered. His talent is just otherworldly.
Same here!
Same man. Every note was deliberate and well thought out. It was never mindless shredding. He snuck some of that in there for sure, but it always worked with the melody of the song.
Always will be my favorite.
Can we just talk about Rudy Sarzo totally killing it on bass? He and Aldridge. The perfect rock rhythm section.
The sound is a compliment to this whole song. Such an underappreciated sound.
As a big fan of Rudy as I saw him and Randy countless times during their Quiet Riot years, unfortunaltely, he did not play the bass lines ion this album. Nor did he on any of the Q,R. early Japanese releases.
Totally missed by the cameramen. You can see him doing all his finger lickin and overhand playing on the fret board but from over Ozzy's shoulder.
Rudy Sarzo and Bob Daisley were 2 of the best bass players of the 80s, and Ozzy was lucky enough to work with both of them!
Daisley and Kerslake
Music was so much better in the 80s than it is now.
seriously
Bro that's so true!!! My friends keep on bugging me about how I don't like modern music. I mean seriously, there's nothing to even bug me about.
Glad I lived through it 😊
It's a cognitive bias, check it out.
When we look back at music in the past, we aren't considering all the shitty bands from the '80s. Because who remembers them?
Even with movies. I don't think anyone on this planet would hear someone say they love old Star Wars and respond with "yeah wasn't that Christmas special so cool"
Y'all just need to probably find more music. I mean there's literally so much more out there these days. I like '80s thrash metal. I also like modern thrash metal. It's not like the old days where you have a record shop in the radio as you're only sources of new music. It's so much better
Also my mom used to say the same thing about the '60s and how the 80s and 90s were coming down from that peak of music quality.
So I think it's just an old person intuition to think that today's you have bad music. I mean Plato wrote the exact same thing about the youth's music thousands of years ago. And I'm certain our great great great grandkids will say the same thing too.
Cameraman has NO IDEA where the talent is.
YUP!

This was the band right here. The greatest solo Ozzy band that there ever was. No debate.✋
Actually massive debate. Kerslake/Daisley SLAYS this rhythm section. Rudy is sloppy on bass. That terrible farty sounding bass slide at 1:40 lol-Randy looks over right after like WTF??? Sorry I’m sure Rudy is nice and humble etc but Bob eats him for breakfast.
Michael
Have you ever read the liner notes? If you had, you’d see that Ozzy, Randy, Bob Daisley (Bass) and Lee Kerslake (Drums), were credited as producers. They actually wrote and recorded the album. Same with Diary of a Madman, although Aldridge and Sarzo are inaccurately listed and pictured on the sleeve as players. Aldridge has always given credit to Lee for his playing on the recordings. In other words, Tommy and Rudy are hired guns, who learned the songs to perform them! They’re both brilliant players, especially on Speak of the Devil (live, after Randy’s death) with Brad Gillis. But your misinformed original comment lacks merit and your dismissive reply to Fly Johnson is not only insulting, it doubles down on your own lack of knowledge and understanding of the musical history you’re supposing to be so passionate about.
@@augsdoggs I don't care what writing credits Daisley and Kerslake get or didn't get on Ozzy's first 2 solo albums. As I stated in my original post, the best Ozzy solo band is Randy, Tommy, Rudy, and Ozzy. No debate. You can feel whatever you want. I don't care what musicians YOU like best that Ozzy worked with. But you obviously care very much what I think. So deal with it!
Michael
I never said what MY favorite lineup is. I’m also not in a debate with you. You wouldn’t make the debate team. I’m just breaking down exactly how you’re wrong. It’s not even a wrong opinion. It’s only a display of both your stubborn lack of information and proud ignorance.
Unless you’ve seen the band live with Randy and this lineup, or listen to live bootlegs of touring gigs, you’ve never even heard this band. If you’re saying this video clip alone of fill in players sounds better than the album version, you’re either a liar or a fool. And yes, I guess I’ll have to deal with it. I’ll probably cry myself to sleep for the remainder of my days.
@@augsdoggs Tell me what I'm "wrong" about? I stated what is the best Ozzy solo band which is Randy, Tommy, Rudy, and Ozzy. If you disagree then that doesn't make me "wrong" you clown. I saw the band live numerous times with that lineup. Have a nice life little one. Toodle loo👋

Exactly what I was thinking. Show me Randy!
Can u just imagine what randys playing would sound like today ,that crosses my mind from time to time, n i get chills
Ya his sister says that all the time too. However, here is the thing. Randy died at his most popular. He may have become more popular or he may have faded into the past (recency bias) as all great guitarists do. He'd be 65 now and I doubt he'd have the same energy or appeal as he did when he was 25. When I was young I loved this Ozzy band (the best one in my opinion). However so did everyone else at the time (1980). In the forty years since I have adopted many other guitarists and bands as equally credible. You know, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Mark Knopfler, and a host of others. Randy and Eddie were it at the time. A lot of it was band hype and marketing because there were some good bands back then too (with very talented guitarists) like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Led Zeplin, and a host of others. It was Rock at its finest before they adopted the synthesizer too much in the mid to late '80s. Randy was lucky to die on top and that is how he will always be remembered. My guess is if he were still alive he'd be like Clapton or Knopfler. Quiet, humble, and doing the odd show or podcast like Eddie was doing before he passed. Even Eddie faded over time (in the past fifteen years especially) that is probably a pretty good indication.
This is by far one of the best videos of Randy Rhoads. There’s another one, Mr. Crowley. This is wonderful man. This is beautiful. This is clear as it was the very first day. Thank you for both videos. Awesome man.🤘🎸🎸🎸🤘

After 20 years of playing , every Rhoads song I learn makes me better . He’s amazing
Sem dúvida
After all these decades, Randy still shines among shredders. He was more melodic 99% of the others, and had the finesse of a blues guitarist. He was so young, and he told an interviewer that he was still developing. What a loss!
While out on tour, sometimes Randy would look at the Yellow Pages phone books during lulls and searched for classical guitar teachers to work with. He was interested in branching out beyond his rock/metal roots.
For some reason, I just don't associate Blues with the word "finesse".....nothing at all against blues players, it just seems odd to me to hear a phrase like that. Randy had finesse, no doubt!
Randy’s Classical music 🎼 technique mixed with his powerhouse Rock Riffs are unbeatable. RIP Randy. 🙏🎸
What a lineup. Aldridge back then was a beast. Sarzo arguably is the best hard rock bassist ever. Randy, well, Randy is Randy. He almost never even looked at the fretboard. He played those crazy licks just by feel. It was effortless for him. Ozzy couldn't get the smile off his face during this performance. It was as if Ozzy had gone to musical heaven. He had.
You summed it up very well.

I loved this and I bought the album when I was wee but I am only now beginning to realise and appreciate the full magnitude of what was actually going on.
The stratospheric mastery of his instrument that Randy Rhoads possessed. The great friendship that was forged between the two men which helped Ozzy out of the depressive doldrums he was in after being ejected from his beloved band. Maybe he had had all kinds of regrets, at the time; he probably couldn't imagine any kind of a future doing the thing he loved most in the world (and how wrong, largely thanks to meeting and playing with Randy, that vision ended up proving to be). The reigniting of his musical career and as a performer and the foundations that they laid for, what ended up, his massive, future, solo career.
I don't mean to diminish the contributions of the other musicians involved, in any way, but by all accounts, including Ozzy Osbourne's own, it was almost all because he met this amazing musician and reputedly, gem of a guy.
Just look at the huge grin on Mr. Osbourne's face.

No one could ever replace Randy Rhoads. His guitar work and sound were genius.
enginekid88 we all need to say a prayer for Dolores Rhodes and Randy Rhoads especially need to say a prayer for his mother and we need all need to say thank you Miss Delores Rhoads for sharing your son with the world and what I mean by that Randy Rhoads mom Dolores roads rest in peace mrs. rose thank you for sharing your son tell your son we will never forget him
agreed..
enginekid88 you have not good but great taste in music.
Yeah but Jake E Lee was an absolute badass, don’t forget it
@@northernhorror95 & ,.,....Zàkkk Wyldē.,,,
this is my fave piece of Randy's music, and it has everything to do with him playing that Les Paul... God love you Randy.... #Superlative
Ozzy, Randy, Rudy Sarzo, and Tommy Aldridge. Easily the best chemistry any Ozzy band ever had
👍
They were good but talking chemestry.. thats the original blizzard of ozz band and the guys who wrote the music & lyrics on Blizzard of Ozz & Dairy of a Madman.. Bob Daisley Bass guitar & lyrics
Randy Rhoads guitar..
Lee Kerslake Drums
Rudy & Tommie are on the pics of Dairy but never played on the album.
***** *diary 😊
+Anna Langley my bad.. Diary!
+jason sloten LOL. Sorry, bad habit but thank you for the reply .
I always loved Guitar since about 7 or 8 ..
Rhoads, Sarzo, Aldridge: Ozzy's best line up!
don't forget the amazing Don Airey!!
Well let's not forget the original original lineup.. Bob daisley, Lee kerslake, Randy rhoads and of course Ozzy.. that was the band recorded through the second solo album.. don't get me wrong sarzo and Aldrich filled-in just great...but you got to give credit where credit is due!
First of all, Tommy's last name is Aldridge, not Aldrich. Second, Plus Don Airey on Blizzard and Johnny Cook on Diary on Keyboards.
Great singer, ozzy,I remember this song in 81.
Bull. Daisley Kerslake all day over this
Ozzy blowing the whole video budget on his shirt.
S Biegs lol
Haha
Classic!
What made the video iconic
Looks like Sharon went crazy with her Bedazzler.
Peace Randy. I can never repay what you have given me.
It never gets old
Pure magic getting to watch Randy rhoads doing what he does best... We lost a guitar legend way before his time I just imagine some of the beautiful music that could have been created should he had lived and carried on this man was a guitar God pure and simple
Now that's a true artist, Randy Rhoads because he wrote that guitar music and I've never heard any better.
I LOVE Randys playing. But Rudy Sarzo is an absolute beast on bass. Not to mention Tommy Aldridge drumming.
Those were the days. 🤘🤘
Ozzy's best line up
Uh. That’s Bob daisley on bass. I don’t think that’s Tommy Aldridge either.
@MD2020Drums uh....that IS Tommy Aldridge and that IS Rudy Sarzo....watch the video
Randy Rhoads was a being from another world who came to Earth to blow the minds of rock music fans around the world. All these years after he left, minds are continuing to be blown as people give up trying to duplicate his unprecedented ability.
I had the opportunity to see Randy rhoads and Ozzy Osbourne at the palladium in May 2nd 1981 one of the greatest guitarist ever know Randy rhoads
While I don't possess a lot of knowledge on the terminology used to describe different parts / sections of songs, I do know absolute genius when I hear it. That little fill Randy does during the 2nd verse after the line " life's a stage and we're all in the cast " is awesome ! Then, Randy's fill after the 2nd chorus just before ...idk ..." the bridge " maybe ? ..at 2:21-2:25.....F'n AWESOME !!!!!! GOD DAMN SHAME HE WAS TAKEN SO EARLY !!!!!!!
the song goes:- intro { verse } { verse } [ chorus } { verse } {verse } { chorus } middle 8 { solo } { verse } { verse } { outro/chorus } standard middle 8 song structure but the end of the solo could be classified as a bridge, the middle 8 could also be classified as a bridge but that whole part of the song where it slows way down is usually classified as a middle 8 as it is usually 8 bars of music that breaks up the usual rhythm of the song
That was the easy bit.
2:24 A melodia q Ozzy canta é incrivel ....
OZZY IS BEST!
So glad that the guy recorded this footage from the tv.
Apparently the master recording is lost or destroyed
That lead may be the best lead in guitar history. He attacked that guitar like he was from another planet. Wow!
the way he plays down low and suddenly goes way up high and so slick with it. insane talent no one can touch him. I must have watched this TV performance over 100 times.
@@vacuum7479Randy Rhoads is the greatest guitarist of all time.
@@thisone981EVH took credit for "showing him everything he knew" but he was gimmicky and corny as hell. He could have never come up with something as insane as the diary of a madman solo or revelation mother earth. Randy's talent was entirely next level.
@vacuum7479 I couldn't agree more. EVH musical composition was nowhere near Randy's level. If anything, he could have learned a lot from Randy.
@@ronaldsmith7464 (in my opinion) when you have to hear every note Randy Rhoads recorded that's because you are listening to a real genius. I can appreciate some early EVH but i don't need to hear everything of his.
I do appreciate his contribution and innovation when it comes to guitar equipment because those 5150 style amps are insane.
Randy Rhoads was and will always be the best guitar player ever.
True
@@ALLMETAL1970 Hard disagree.
@@ScreamingMoon that's your opinion not mine
So sad he is gone so young. Just tragic. RR is the greatest ever.
@@ALLMETAL1970 🤣🤣🤣🤣No way, dude. Not even close. Appreciate your thoughts and opinion tho ✌
imagine being a teen in 1981 rochester, new york and this comes on local tv...wow!!!
It was awesome !
Saw Randy at The Landmark Theater 1st tour. This video is in Rochester NY.
I wish there were more videos like this of the full performances of every song off of Ozzy's diary of a madman and Blizzard of ozz. . Videos like this is a treasure for the ages
It’s sad how Ozzy and Sharon have screwed over most former members of the band, most notably Bob Daisley, who wrote most of their earlier material.... IMO their best material
And what’s even more admirable is I saw an interview with Bod Daisley where they were asking him about stuff he’d written and given the chance to shit talk the Osbourne’s and everything that’s happened, he didn’t. He just talked about his work. Stand up guy on top of the fact that he’s a great musician and song writer
@@Anthony-nk4ky He should have. Sharon Osbourne has become rich by exploiting the talent and hard work of others for most of her life. A lifetime of malevolent behavior should be looked down upon.
Sharon has done the dirty work. Ozzy has been too wasted to know any better.
Doug Leonard without Sharon Ozzy would have been dead by 1990
@Cutting Yoko’s bra! to be fair think he has a point but that doesnt excuse any "business decisions" but she did have a great teacher in that school ( think her father has a far worse record with fucking people over )
3:34 - 3:40 That descending chromatic run gives me the chills.
What is descending chromatic run?
@Jeff Watson That's mean. I was just wondering. And I play music all the time. On the radio ;)
This song, along with "Over the Mountain" inspired me to buy a 7pc Pearl drum set at 13 😏
Good
Have you check this cover ruclips.net/video/Wf3q0LP_CJw/видео.html
Must be nice to have you're mommy and daddy buy you a Pearl drum set. You probably can't play for shit though.
Master Piece of history 🤘🏻🎸🤘🏻
R . I . P Randy Rhodes 💜🕊️
Freaking Randy.... Damn. What a badass. You can tell he's classically trained just by seeing how he holds himself while playing. A true artist. Sad to think of where he could have gone. He was just getting started..... RIP 💙
Dude, not dissing evh one bit but I believe Randy's star would have shined just as bright 🌞. We always lose them way too soon...even if they lived to be 150...we long to hear
I cant even begin to wrap my head around the music Randy would've made if he was still with us.
I have heard he wanted to quit being a rockstar to be a guitar teacher and study classical music, so I guess we would have a brillant classic guitarist today who had a short experience in the metal scene
It's such a shame we don't have more concert footage of Randy, small little gem's like this, and not many, he is definitely one of the the reasons I started playing guitar.
Ozzy and Sharon do have unreleased live footage. Idk why they won’t release it but they recorded every concert. Tell me they didn’t because we have footage of brad gillis and Joe holmes at different times
@@_Suzuka_Joe the reason they won’t release them is because Sharon doesn’t see any money out of it. It’s sad.
It's crazy there isn't more live performances of him
There are, but there’s too many legal hoops to jump through for a release.
@@ShawnGisler , don't talk shit about Sharon, without her we wouldn't even be talking about Ozzy's solo career.
I was so lucky to see them twice in 81 and 82. Last was diary tour awesome they kicked ass
Randy Will always be my favorite guitarist. Sheer magnificence. He had all the tools and a tone all his own. The way he structured the songs were innovative and unique. Rest in Peace Randy. Much love and respect.
Randy would be proud to know that his bad ass guitar playing would be appreciated 40 years later by an old geezer like meself.
It's great to watch Randy rip out this complicated stuff with a smile on his face like it was childs play.
Looks like they’re happy. Look at them smiling that’s the way it’s supposed to be that’s bad ass as pure gold as pure talent. You don’t get that every day life he’s definitely missed. He was taken way too soon. That young 25 I’m 56 I grew up with this guy, I haven’t seen anything like it when he was here and now it’s 2024 still to this day. Nothing compares the greatest guitar player of all times Randy Rhodes.🤘🎸🎸🎸🤘
