who would win The king of the lust layer of hell, having been beheaded after reforming the layer into a utopian world, had his soul locked in a living prison, and forced to watch his own corpse destroy all that he has ever loved and owned, trapped with his guilt and belief, Minos literally made his soul's determination and will go beyond mortal standards, so much of this, that he doesn't even need a physical host, he can literally exist out of pure willpower, he can manipulate his form how he wants, and has superhuman speed and strength. He is literally the embodiment of true determination. a walking nikkon/gopro/chinese-owned CCTV camera/snake camera used for colonoscopy and 13 cents
lol who the fuck said Minos was the judge of Hell he was just a guy from Greek mythology although the only myth I remember him from is when his wife fucked a bull and gave birth to the minotaur, which is named the *MINO-TAUR* because his stepdad is Minos and he's half bull (taurus is bull in Latin)
I convinced my friend to get ultrakill. When he fought minos, he told me "I hate him, he killed me for an hour straight." After I told him to go watch a video covering his lore and story, he simply told me: "I'm so sorry..."
Minos was given to me in 10 attempts, 22 attempts took the flesh to prison. Minos is easy to read, he shouts out his attacks, his combos are parried not to mention "JUDGMENT!!!!" which are parried

@@turtlelord8021 that would be funny, but with the current events, now minos would probably be confused, I mean he still wants to kill gabriel, but he will congratulate him for fucking slaying the holy council
I love how Minos is what’s called a “prime soul”, meaning that his willpower is so strong that he doesn’t need his husk to manifest and promptly break your neck.
If thy end is now, then that means you got judged, and that means you are weak, and that means you are useless, and that means you are about to get crushed, which means you are about to die

"haha that's cool, wonder who came out of the prison Yooo holy shit who the fuck are you my dude. You're cool. Are we gonna fuck up some shit?" "But thy crimes against humanity cannot be forgiven..." "Wait, what, the fuck did I do oh no come on man-"
Crazy how the king Minos in IRL Greek mythology was known for being a unfair judge and a cruel tyrant yet in ultrakill it’s almost as if he finally grew a heart and in turn has finally become the fair and righteous ruler that the lust layer saw him for.

I remember hearing this song for the first time, I go down to the comments and read a huge one about Minos Primes lore and that part of the songs plays the exact moment im reading how tragic minos primes story is. I teared up so bad when I read smth about how he lost everything, all the love he had for the children who he was seperated from, torn and shattered. That part of the song is one of my favorites ive ever heard in any boss theme. It makes me want to stop fighting him and just let him feel peace, even if it's by taking out a camera
@@mouses_HK when he says weak hes saying it to himself, because the blocks on his head represent buildings he cared for, and he's putting them in danger
Its kind of neat how in ultrakill lore The power of your soul manifestation in hell is mostly based on how you greatly you are remembered. Minos was just a human, but a great king The BELIEF in Minos and reverence for him is what gave him nuclear dropkicks in the afterlife. (edit: this means Conquerors Haki is a thing in hell. V1 is gaining it as he goes) (edit: FUCK. WE HAVE TO GET SLAP BOXED BY GUMBALL NICANTUS WATERSON PRIME)
actually, we see this in minos's real body, the giant corpse. hes a giant because he was a great king. however, minos prime, is just his soul that has so much willpower has a physical form, a prime soul
@@raccocooon7305 the parasite infested corpse shambling around Lust isn't king minos's actualy body, it's the husk that manifested after his death and the reason we can even fight him is because the angels went out of their way to remove his soul from the husk, traping it in the flesh prison.
Ok, now i imagine how strong people from the time when humanity got wiped out by the machines became (especially commanding officers as such) imagine how much belief was in them
This song is honestly amazing. It hits hard as it really conveys the "fallen king" better than anything I've ever heard. And with that Requiem leitmotif shows you how melancholy and depressing Minos and Lust's story is. And this song is truly amazing because it makes you realize *you aren't the hero in this story.*
The concept of prime souls being souls whose willpower has reached critical mass is just so amazing. By trapping Minos's soul in the flesh prison, his anger and his regrets that he wasn't strong enough to protect the last functional human souls kept reverberating back to himself, causing him to essentially go supernova during his fight with V1. I can't wait to see what the story will be for the other prime souls.
@@fashionsoulsonlysouls5575 i dont own the game, sadly. I'm broke I've read bits and pieces of random things thinking it was just small justifications for weird parts of the game but I guess there's far more lore than I thought

Can I just say quickly, if we got a cosmetic only upgrade to the arm that had the snakes that are around minos prime' arms on our arms that would be so sick as a trophy of completion.
man, would be cool if we got skins for arms from P level P rank completions. P-1 for feedbacker, P-2 for knuckleblaster, P-3 for whiplash, and P ranks on all of the P levels gives a skin for an arm we have yet to see.
And if you want to go mega philosophical, you could say that if everything branches from chaos, order is another construct conceived from chaos to decorate it into acceptable patterns for those who perceive it.
Specially because requiem in death at 20,000 volts sounds more subtle (This level is basically a piece of the lust revolution), at glory, it starts to sound stronger (the room where glory starts playing is the room where you enter the prime door) and finally, the true requiem w/Minos prime, it's like we're getting closer to the king of lust (something similar happens with the spinal staircase)
You can hear the immense guilt Minos feel for failing his people, It sounds like the screams of all the dead souls, their only sin was wanting to live a real life.

Seeing Minos on his own, with no lore knowledge, you'd already think this was a really cool boss. But looking into the lore, you find what Minos did, how he tried to recreate the Lust layer, but was struck down by the Heavens, forced to watch as his own corpse tore apart every thing he loved. You are not just fighting a boss. You are fighting a man who has lost everything. A man who is so determined and has so much willpower that he doesn't need a physical husk. A man who wants revenge for his fallen kingdom. This is the best boss fight in the entire game so far, if not, it is the best boss in any video game.
The worst thing you can do to a man is take away his meaning. The worst you can do to yourself is cross that man's path again. (idk who made it or if this is the correct quote)
@@pizzarollwithagun4730 Its not that he likes to fight, he likes the idea OF fighting and going against everything despite the odds, he knew that he wouldn't succeed in his rebellion against heaven OR be able to beat V1, but the fact he tried leaves him satisfied.
The coolest option for the 3rd prime soul fight we get in my opinion would be Adam, the first man. Even further below Brutus, Cassius, and Judas, he stands alone in Eden (because a boss fight in a flower field is always good), banished to remain in the paradise he desecrated in retaliation against god. He cut down the forbidden tree and killed the snake as they were only created to manipulate Eve. Armed with his axe he’d be like a hack n slash character more than Minos’ fighting game. If minos was mad imagine the father of mankind’s reaction.
Ooo and the buildup could be you walking through Eden to get to Adam as he monologues from the stump of the tree. Right before you get to him I don’t know what comes before but last thing he says could be “I cut down the fucking tree.” *fight starts*
And his boss music would be a calm melody and with the boss room being all of Eden you could fit every traversal mechanic and it’d look really nice to see the beautiful landscape slowly become a bloody mess
@@lil_ursa wrote this in 10 minutes or so but you inspired me so here is what I think the monologue would be like "A machine? This far into heaven? You should leave." He takes a short pause as you platform through the level and start seeing soil and roots. "I see you won't follow my advice. Well then, let me tell you a story. 6 hours after I came into existence, 6 hours after the love of my life did too I heard a repugnant soft whisper. It whispered and whispered for hours, days, weeks but time didn't pass. It just kept whispering louder and louder until I found who was whispering, it was a snake on one of the branches of the tree. It kept pushing a single crimson fruit for us to eat, a fruit we were told not to eat by God. And I ate it." The platform gets slightly more intense with time based branches popping out of the walls for you to jump on and get across without falling from the skies. "I found myself banned. A few years after I had children of mine, one of which killed his own brother. But I never moved from the gates of this paradise, grasping onto the memory of what it looked like. Just before I died, I finally noticed; God was all knowing. How could he not know the snake was going to tempt us? That's when I realized, the snake, the tree, the fruit, they were there to manipulate us, to force us onto His little plans. I was banished for the knowledge again, this time, inside this garden." There's a checkpoint in front of you, but you can't see what's on the other side of it due to incredibly bright light. "So I did what any reasonable man would do." You cross the checkpoint, revealing a massive beheaded snake corpse by the side of a rotten fallen tree in the field of pink flowers. Adam gets up from the stump he was sitting in, using his axe as a cane to assist him. "I cut down that fucking tree."
I just noticed that Minos was the king of lust, and he thought loving one another shouldn't be a sin, he LOVED his people Same with Sisyphus, he was GREEDY for power Damn, in my 300hrs, why didn't I noticed this
Usually in Ultrakill every boss is trying to keep up with you, even the faster ones like Gabriel or V2, but with Minos you're trying to keep up with HIM
I only think the first fight of Gabriel is him trying to keep up with you. For the second fight, I think the first phase is just the both of you throwing yourselves at eachother with no defense and just spamming everything, and the 2nd phase is a repeat but gabe enjoys it.
@@SunerteThe 1st phase of Gabriel's 2nd fight is him throwing himself at you mindlessly because he's angry af, the 2nd phase is him clearing up his mind and actually concentrating. So basically he starts tilted and transitions to in the zone. But V1 is just in Ultrakilling Mode™ so they win anyway.
@@Rubiktor012 it's ultrakilling time (murders 66.6% of hell including many angels and drives Gabriel himself to insanity, then killing two prime souls)

Stephan Weyte absolutely killed it as Minos Prime. It's to the point where I'm hoping that if Jyggalag is ever getting a Daedric quest in The Elder Scrolls 6, Stephan Weyte must be chosen to voice act as him. He's perfect for the role, especially given the context of Jygglag's backstory.
Hakita really didn't hold back on this one did he. A legend of a voice actor, a really hard fight, and then an even harder fight after that, with both of them having unmatched soundtrack.
@@topkek7372 the fact that hakita both programmed one of the best fps games ever and composed the absolute banger of a soundtrack along with it blows my mind, I can't imagine how long he has worked on Ultrakill. Absolute unit of a game dev.
It seems this game has a few rules applied to it: As big the threat gets, more of a banger the theme will be And the most human the enemy is, the most dangerous he is
Didn't see many people talking about this, but the music producers did a phenomenal job relating mino's theme back to his origin in the lust ring by adding a motif of requiem in this song! Just though that was cool. :)
I love the fact that all that suffering of a boss fight was just to know the excuse for why it sounds music everytime you use the screen of the weapons and enemies, Hakita is a genius
I think he's talking about how hakita is using certain sound clips from the weapons and enemies in the song and how it making the song was an excuse to use those sound clips for this song
they're talking about the terminal and why it plays the same song every time [SPOILERS] and it implies that the terminals are also sentient machines, just like v1, v2, swordsmachine, etc
man there would be like .2% of the playerbase able to play that lvl. I mean getting p rank on prime p-1 is already hard enough, but if p-2 gets even harder? Man o man.
There's like no reward of beating flesh prison and minos prime , here's just a terminal lore. The simple fact than you beat him is satisfacting enough. Same thing for beating Act 1 when you did all P ranks, no rewards, no messages, just sending you back in the menu. There's just you happy than you did it and telling yourself the fire is gone.
Sisyphus was quite underwhelming. He's merely the dessert after finishing the barrage of enemies before him. Sisyphus is at a similar difficulty to minos, having basically the same attacks but a bit faster and harder to parry. I think this is reflected well in the OST, having Tenebre Rosso Sangue be a much more energetic song than Pandemonium or War, with the latter two being in essence similar to P-1's soundtrack.
Hakita, why is your game this absolute god-tier masterpiece of first person shooters? It's so good I literally cannot play any other fps games because they bore me.
I played Doom Eternal after ULTRAKILL. Big mistake. The game seemed so "clunky" and slow, compared to the razor-sharp precision of the controls and the fast mechanics in ULTRAKILL.
seeing as the lore mentions part of Minos’s soul is still inside his body, maybe instead of fighting the corpse of Minos we are fighting his soul? It is called SOUL SURVIVOR after all. edit: holy FUCK I WAS ON POINT

I feel like minos is actually the good guy in this story. He has a completely valid reason to kill you, and even so he does it in an honerable way, making sure you know when he's attacking.
Gotta love the times like in 3:02 it feels like everybody’s just fuckin balling their eyes out over Minos, and obviously that one lust song and in other times like in 4:45 Minos actually cuts the shit and gets angrier The way these songs make one feel is amazing
Once you get to read the lore of King Minos, the name of the song makes a humongous amount of sense Chaos is called like that not only because it sounds chaotic, but because the downfall of Lust's only king led to its departure, the flesh prison represents order being held back by chaos, but when Minos is released at last, the theme is called Order, the theme is not only more focused but it also represents the order Minos stablished on Lust, he's willing to fight to death his saviour because of the transgressions against his people, that's how focused on order he is.
That part gives me vibes of fighting for the fate of existance, one fuck up and everything is done. There is no going back. You've only got one shot at this, fighting tooth and nail for life. Putting EVERYTHING you've got into a burst of sadness, anger, and madness. Just the weight of everything and all sits heavy on your shoulders, but you don't plan of screwing up. I know this is a boss but damm the Requiem part made me hype.
I love that there's a motif of the OST "Requiem" during "Order" (you can hear it in 3:03-3:35). "Requiem" firstly appeared in 2-2, and compared to 2-1, 2-2 was the first level of Lust that actually truly shown how much impact Minos gave to the whole Layer, how much he tried to improve sinner's lives (or suffering), as we see all these houses and streets. Plus Minos was mentioned in 2-2 (for the first time) in the diary. I think MAYBE Minos, during battle, was thinking about his kingdom and his people and he was doing it to protect them (or maybe he thought he was doing it to protect them, although by that time V1 already murdered everyone in Lust layer). Or mabye I'm just overthinking it and "Order" has "Requiem" motif just because Minos was the king of Lust. Although it's still sounds awesome.
I love the voice for minos. Sounds like something straight out of God of war. He truly sounds like he has an ancient dialect, and hearing that voice veing so enraged and have such raw awesome power dropping nuclear thunder kicks straight up your ass is such a clash of styles, it truly rocks.
i love this character so much, he's been trapped for at least a few thousand years, forced to watch is people imprisoned once again after trying so hard to free them, and the first second he is freed, he vows to defeat Gabriel, and freeing those at the Lust Layer, but then he realizes that V1 is probably and most likely a huge contributor to the damned souls in the lust layer, indirectly causing them to be watched over by his parasite infested corpse, and understands that V1 may have saved him, but is a threat to his people regardless, he thanks V1 for freeing him, but then just like his role as a judge in the divine comedy, reads out V1's crimes, and then gives it it's sentence, death. He stretches his shoulders for the first time after millennia, and fights you, solely for the ones who served him, beautifully written for a character who only has a few lines of dialogue.
How i vibe with this and what it's like 0:05 introduction of an old fallen champion-like-king 0:24 tension rises at last. One last wise speech of a king. 0:45 let the battle begin. Metallic killer vs ancient king.
"Ah, free at last. Oh Gabriel, now dawns thy reckoning, and THY GORE SHALL GLISTEN before the temples of man! Creature of steel, my gratitude upon thee for my freedom. But the CRIMES thy kind has committed against humanity are not forgotten. And thy punishment.... ....is DEATH."
V1 had reached the bottom of the spinal staircase. They had killed the Flesh Prison. They still thought it was disturbing they were inside a giant titan. But they could overlook that as they stared at a blue glowing orb. The orb descended to the ground and transformed into a humanoid shape. “Finally” Minos said “oh Gabriel, now dawns thy reckoning. And they gore shall glisten before the temples of man!”. V1 looked at the peculiar being. Could he be an ally? Minos turned to V1. “Creature of steel, my gratitude upon thee for my freedom, but the crimes thy kind has committed against humanity have not been forgotten”. V1 stiffened. He didn’t mean….“and thy punishment” Minos announced… “Is death” … Ah Shit 0:47
Minos really is an honorable judge of hell. He shouts his next moves, and although they’re difficult to dodge, you have only yourself to blame for this.

The king of the lust layer of hell, having been beheaded after reforming the layer into a utopian world, had his soul locked in a living prison, and forced to watch his own corpse destroy all that he has ever loved and owned, trapped with his guilt and belief, Minos literally made his soul's determination and will go beyond mortal standards, so much of this, that he doesn't even need a physical host, he can literally exist out of pure willpower, he can manipulate his form how he wants, and has superhuman speed and strength. Seeing Minos on his own, with no lore knowledge, you'd already think this was a really cool boss.
Oh and Uriel could be the first fight as he guards Eden’s gate
Ooo and the buildup could be you walking through Eden to get to Adam as he monologues from the stump of the tree. Right before you get to him I don’t know what comes before but last thing he says could be “I cut down the fucking tree.” *fight starts*
And his boss music would be a calm melody and with the boss room being all of Eden you could fit every traversal mechanic and it’d look really nice to see the beautiful landscape slowly become a bloody mess
Hey man don’t spoil
@@lil_ursa wrote this in 10 minutes or so but you inspired me so here is what I think the monologue would be like
"A machine? This far into heaven? You should leave."
He takes a short pause as you platform through the level and start seeing soil and roots.
And I ate it."
The platform gets slightly more intense with time based branches popping out of the walls for you to jump on and get across without falling from the skies.
I was banished for the knowledge again, this time, inside this garden."
There's a checkpoint in front of you, but you can't see what's on the other side of it due to incredibly bright light.
"So I did what any reasonable man would do."
You cross the checkpoint, revealing a massive beheaded snake corpse by the side of a rotten fallen tree in the field of pink flowers. Adam gets up from the stump he was sitting in, using his axe as a cane to assist him.
"I cut down that fucking tree."

I only think the first fight of Gabriel is him trying to keep up with you. For the second fight, I think the first phase is just the both of you throwing yourselves at eachother with no defense and just spamming everything, and the 2nd phase is a repeat but gabe enjoys it.
Meanwhile with Sisyphus it's a challange to so much as keep your eyes at him
@@SunerteThe 1st phase of Gabriel's 2nd fight is him throwing himself at you mindlessly because he's angry af, the 2nd phase is him clearing up his mind and actually concentrating. So basically he starts tilted and transitions to in the zone.

While Sisyphus is great as is his OST, Minos is still on another level. Fuck I love this game.

3:02 oh my god it's a leitmotif to lust, but epic - that's amazing. Hakita really is one of the of all time.
This game is going to have a "This is YOUR boss theme." moment, I guarantee it.
If it's not Cyber Grind then I'm scared as to what it could be
I guess the 6-1 theme kinda says it haha
probably going to be similar to versus/duel

Hakita,
why is your game this absolute god-tier masterpiece of first person shooters? It's so good I literally cannot play any other fps games because they bore me.
@DarkInfinitus Redux hmm but ultrakill makes you hate it
@DarkInfinitus Redux I am not saying the game is bad its really good and the moment in ultrakill is from maximum action

@DarkInfinitus Redux cool!!!
I played Doom Eternal after ULTRAKILL. Big mistake. The game seemed so "clunky" and slow, compared to the razor-sharp precision of the controls and the fast mechanics in ULTRAKILL.
@@92edoy yup i feel bad for you
hold on, if this level still takes place in Gluttony, which is Minos' guts, then does that mean that Minos always had a stronger Minos in his stomach?
Minoception.
With the whole spine thing I'd assume it's his mind
seeing as the lore mentions part of Minos’s soul is still inside his body, maybe instead of fighting the corpse of Minos we are fighting his soul?
It is called SOUL SURVIVOR after all.

Gotta love the times like in 3:02 it feels like everybody’s just fuckin balling their eyes out over Minos, and obviously that one lust song and in other times like in 4:45 Minos actually cuts the shit and gets angrier
The way these songs make one feel is amazing
Once you get to read the lore of King Minos, the name of the song makes a humongous amount of sense
Chaos is called like that not only because it sounds chaotic, but because the downfall of Lust's only king led to its departure, the flesh prison represents order being held back by chaos, but when Minos is released at last, the theme is called Order, the theme is not only more focused but it also represents the order Minos stablished on Lust, he's willing to fight to death his saviour because of the transgressions against his people, that's how focused on order he is.

Although it's still sounds awesome.

i love this character so much, he's been trapped for at least a few thousand years, forced to watch is people imprisoned once again after trying so hard to free them, and the first second he is freed, he vows to defeat Gabriel, and freeing those at the Lust Layer, but then he realizes that V1 is probably and most likely a huge contributor to the damned souls in the lust layer, indirectly causing them to be watched over by his parasite infested corpse, and understands that V1 may have saved him, but is a threat to his people regardless, he thanks V1 for freeing him, but then just like his role as a judge in the divine comedy, reads out V1's crimes, and then gives it it's sentence, death. He stretches his shoulders for the first time after millennia, and fights you, solely for the ones who served him, beautifully written for a character who only has a few lines of dialogue.
