His defiance is reflected in his theme as well. While ORDER has a sense of nobility, aggression and sadness behind it. WAR is relentless, unceasing, it keeps going and going with no real break in intensity, it's consistently aggressive and in your face the whole time. Minos was the kindness that humanity can possess, transparent almost to a fault, caring about his people above everything else, even as he was dying his only regret is not being able to save humanity. Patient even in the face of an Archangel sent to kill him, only driven to anger and vengeance once his genuinely good deeds were met with his execution. Sisyphus is willpower personified, unbreakable determination on a level that allowed him and his small army to rattle Hell to the core in the face of their divine oppressors, relentlessly defiant even though he knew that at the end of the day, he had no chance in a full scale war with Heaven. But he still fought, he fought and died for a cause he believed in, probably even smiling as Gabriel beheaded him, he fought with no regret or doubt in his mind knowing that even if it was temporary, even if it was doomed to failure, for a brief moment he was the biggest thorn that Heaven's had in its side, and that's the ultimate act of freedom to him. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.

the thing I love about Sisyphus Prime and Minos Prime is that they're two opposite ends of a spectrum. Sisyphus in Greek lore was a horrid ruler, he enslaved many, many people. Plus, he also tortured hundreds and destroyed tons of things and ruled with the ironest fist possible. And he made the gods real angry and they even imprisoned him, which even AFTER being defeated and killed by V1, he says he doesn't regret a single thing he did. Minos on the other hand, ruled his city with transparency, love, and care. After releasing him from the Flesh Prison, he refers to V1 as a "creature of steel.", showing that unlike Gabriel he recognizes V1 as a person instead of an object, which shows that he still cares even though he also holds V1 accountable for their actions against humanity. And after killing Minos he regrets not being able to save humanity and his city from the cold dark pains of the world they now live in.
Sorta off topic and sorta on topic, but I once saw a Minos prime vs sans video in where the comments said that sans’ karma ability would work very poorly against Minos due to the fact that he spent his whole life doing good things. On the other hand, if we try to pit up Sisyphus against sans, sans’ karma ability might end up dealing much more damage to Sisyphus than it did chara as Sisyphus had spent his whole life doing very heinous acts against humanity.

I can't recall any other game doing the same thing that Tenebre Rosso does - get the track performed on different instruments for peaceful and battle music and switch between them without missing a bit. Simply fantastic.
"....and i dont regret a second of it." yes, yes, YES! I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THIS IS! in greek mythology, sisyphus caught the attention by the gods by being HORRID. he was a nightmare, he enslaved thousands, tortured his people, and burned lands and blasphemed against the gods. he deserved his punishment, and modern writers would think that after a long time of prison or punishment, eventually people turn good. no. pretty much, most of the time, horrible people. they stay horrible.
Thats absolutely right, but what I love the most about him is that attitude of nothing matters, of living for the fight because thats all that hes got. He, unlike Minos, is a warrior both in body and mind, to die or not has never been of his corcern, he just wanted to show the world his value as a tornado of destruction.
And as explained by Marcomeatball, the music doesn't sound desperate. It sounds nefarious. He doesn't seem to care. You got Minos' blood on your hands? Alright, fine, let's see what you got.
The dude is the embodiment of a sinister smirk and that's probably what makes him sound more human than Minos. He wasn't the best kind of ruler humanity ever saw, he was the violence every human has inside personified
What I imagine hearing Sisyphus' death monolog: His body's light has been dimmed by the stains of his own blood, which has finally run dry because of the mechanical menace. As he sees his life and times has been concluded, potraits appear above his head. First of them being his punishment which was given to him by Hades, having to lift an immense boulder up only to fall down when nearing the top, repeating the cycle for eternity. A very example that defines his existence. Futile struggle. Next, another potrait shows Sisyphus on his last leg, having been cornered to Death's Door as his ill-prepared armies fall by the hands of the angelic council, and his head is at the brink of being removed from his body by the right hand of God, Gabriel. Yet, despite his immense loss, and being met with death once again, Sisyphus had a face of great joy and thrill. Devoid of sorrow or fear; uncaring if he lives or dies. Only if he puts up a damn good defiance to the impossible. First, to his everlasting punishment he escaped from when God abandoned his creations. Then, being beheaded by Gabriel, and his armies befelled by the council. And finally, being defeated by the murder machine V1, which slaughtered the fleshy, living prison which held him in fear he'll fully manifest as a Prime Soul, and break out of the prison to terrorize the kingdom of Heaven. That same smile he had in his defiance against Heaven is plastered unto the transformed Sisyphus, and he lets out a maniacal laughter of apathy for whatever comes his way, and filled with utmost joy of the fight, and having persisted against all odds for this long, before finally being overtaken by the blinding light, and being vanquished for good. He wanted a damn good fight, and he got exactly what we wanted thanks to the metallic creature, who did so much more than be a mere appetizer. One could imagine Sisyphus happy.
im here to remind you that V1 casualy killed two kings that have been punished by gods themselfs, so V1 can either fight with god like creatures or Minos and Sisyphus are a bit more advanced than humans since V1 was created to fight humans and other robots
i think v1's robotic need for blood had unintentionally driven it to hell. it was probably made to do anything it can to get blood to keep itself going, and the godlike creature-killing part was probably unintentional
@@razaliabrahim4293I don't think there was anything unintentional about it, neither V1 entering hell nor it fighting the prime souls. As we learned from the terminal after Sisyphus, the terminals (and probably by extention the rest of the machines) are in some way capable of thought and emotion. They can become bored, hell the terminal before Sisyphus says "have fun," disregarding the neat spelling as a quick message to V1. And we know V1 feels as well, evidenced by the narration when V2 tries to run in 4-4, V1 straight up narrates to himself "You're not getting away this time." It goes deeper though, as in Ultrakill, God created Hell and then couldn't unmake it. Not only that, but Hell is also capable of thought. We find out that Hell is what makes the soldiers, Hell is what teleports enemies in to attack us. Hell is what determines where each matter transporter leads (within some parameters). Hell is not very smart, but it is learning. I think, since both the terminals and Hell are capable of thought, they have an agreement (perhaps unspoken). The terminals lure machines to Hell with the promise of blood, and Hell provides. In exchange, the terminals get entertainment, and Hell gets to learn more. At least, that's my little crackpot theory.
Minos and Sisyphus are Prime Souls, souls that can manifest without even a husk/body to sustain them. That alone makes them considerably more powerful than any human or demon in hell. Heaven is so scared of them that they end up locking them behind prisons and massive gauntlets of guards. Also doesn't help that Heaven personally fucked with both Sisyphus and Minos and they have grudges to settle.
10:2711:07 A visitor... Mmmm... Indeed. I have slept long enough. The kingdom of Heaven has long since forgotten my name, and I am EAGER to make them remember. However, the blood of Minos stains your hands, and I must admit, I'm curious about your skills, Weapon. And so, before I tear down the cities, and crush the armies of Heaven... you, shall do as an appetizer. Come forth, child of man, and DIE.
I love Tenebre Rosso Sangue so much. I was a big fan of MBR for years and then the fact that MBR would be making a track exploded my brain and then the track exploded my brain again.

This music makes me want to be good enough to get to the point where I can actually unlock this level. I won't, but I want to. EDIT: Okay y'all have been lovely so I'm working on it. Today (March 4th) I P ranked V2, now I'm working on the levels leading up to Corpse of King Minos. I'll keep you updated on how I'm doing. Further edit: The bridge level is annoying to get 100% kills on, but aside from that I'm down to Glutton papa Gabe! Further further edit (April 6th): I killed the Flesh Prison, and I was all like "YEAH! I BEAT P-1!" and then got thrashed for a while. I think I've got most of the patterns down for Minos, but just need to put it into practice - now is bed time though. Minos edit: (April 11th, I've been working on an assignment so this took a backseat) MINOS DEAD. YES. I'm gonna do the rest of the Act 2 levels normally (I started a new save for this P-rank mission idk why) and then get to work on getting these levels done. Using the RL seems important, but it's not really in my rotation yet. Act 2 Edit: (April 25) We are in the final throes of Act 2, Wrath and the Stupid Water Levels are taken care of. Heresy, then...? April 26 Update: 6-1 is ruining me, I think I might be the Weeper that the game wants you to cry for. In other news, I've P-ranked EVERY OTHER LEVEL (apart from P-1) and so I am SO. NEARLY. THERE. April 29th: I'VE DONE IT! I don't know how likely I am to actually beat this level, but reaching it was my main goal. Of course, I can't get this far without trying to take the big guy down, so I'll keep you all updated on how it goes. Regardless, thanks everyone for the words of encouragement, and I hope you all enjoyed this journey.
You could remain partially sane and P rank everything in Standard to experience the prime sanctums yourself. They will still kick your teeth in if you take them lightly.
It's really not that bad! Just be sure to learn some good dps techs like shotgun swapping, railcoining, etc. and keep moving and p-ranking act 2 shouldn't take more than a day or two. This level however? Absolutely brutal. Can't get above a D-rank personally
Minos while kicking your ass: I’m sorry about doing this but you’re people kind of did terrible things to my people so yeah. I gotta. Sisyphus while kicking your ass: HA! It’s even funnier the 723rd time! Come on!
Hakita said in the encore of the level he is planning on making panopticon live or something, so there is a pretty good chance that they will survive long enough for us to listen in the encore
Tenebre rosso sangue literally took no.1 OST title inside my heart. when organ begins its requiem, my organic self falls into true intension. does put a smile on my face. wish it gets attention it deserves sooner...
I really like WAR but the Sands of Tide motif slaps so fucking hard in it I can't help but wish Hakita did more of the Egypty sound to set it apart, just like ORDER was stylized and sounded more regal
I think that the sands of tide motif not being so egypty and being pretty short is the fact that sisyphus: he doesnt care anymore, he knows theres no saving mankind, whats left is just crushing all of heaven.
the level was hard as shit, but now i propose something: It is said there will be encore levels, in this one for example, flesh panopticon will be a full fight, this will also make the level itself way harder ultrakill must die difficulty is yet to come if you messed around with radiant enemies, you know they are no joke, and now imagine 2 idolled 3x radiance mindflayers...
If everything has blood, it can bleed, if it can bleed, it is fuel. In ultrakill it seems that weaponry is literally built different since the terminals (fueled by hell energy and are part of hell itself) give you most weapons and all weapons being found in hell presumably absorbing some of the power within hell they are more powerful. Also because if all your guns are being made specifically to destroy hard metal you need to go as hard as you possibly can.
I'm starting to catch on the songs of the prime souls are that of what a king would do: -order -war That means the last one will probably be like a fallen kingdom or maybe betrayal
Minos death scene: forgive me my children (admits defeat) Sisyphus death scene: and I don’t regret a second of it! *laughs menacingly* (doesn’t care about defeat. Cares about the loss of many lives)
As a huge slut for Camus, this ticked off all the right boxes for me: even when he knew that defeat was the only option, dying free was still much better than living in captivity. What a badass.
(A little fanfic of sorts I thought I’d write here, because I’m an impulsive writer.) “So concludes the life and times of King Sisyphus,” the King sighed as he hung his head, seemingly morose. “A fitting end to an existence defined by futile struggle. Doomed from the very start…” Sisyphus looked at the machine, a crazed grin spreading across his face. “AND I DON’T REGRET A *SECOND* OF IT!” The King began floating into the air, just as Minos had. Unlike Minos, however, there was no apology, no plea for forgiveness from his long-dead people. Sisyphus just laughed, his booming cackles continuing even as his body shattered. V1 stood there, struggling to make sense of Sisyphus’ words and actions. Minos, for his gratitude for freeing him, refused to let V1’s murder go unpunished. That had been the catalyst for V1’s newfound self-awareness. Sisyphus, however, prompted a new thought, which it was still trying to make sense of. It detected none of the cool, controlled anger of Minos, none of the desire for justice. He wasn’t angry at the machine at all, really; he just wanted to fight for its own sake. Processing this took no small effort on V1’s part, but when it had reached a conclusion, it was a disturbing one. Before Minos, it thought nothing of its fuel, nor the ceaseless murder required to get it. But even the machine was shocked by the eagerness of the King to shed blood for his own entertainment. It had neither felt pleasure nor regret for killing until Minos. “Weapon” and “child of man”, he had called V1. Was that all it had been made for? Did humanity enjoy the destruction of other humans so much that they constructed something like V1, filled it with the thirst for blood, and then set it upon their enemies like an attack dog? Yes. It remembered the war, the massacres, and the blood of countless humans entering its metallic body. The machine wouldn’t have known what to feel before, but now it did. It was angry. Angry at being made to steal blood for its own survival, and angry at humanity’s use of it and other machines to kill each other. If V1 had ever encountered anything that embodied the horror of human violence, it was Sisyphus. It turned, and it left the chamber, its goal of rending Gabriel apart still fresh on its mind. It wouldn’t do so for the sake of Sisyphus, though; that beast had caused destruction to rival that of the machine, and by his own admission, he regretted none of it.
are you the guy that wrote the Minos Prime awesome mini fic?! That was awesome, and this is also awesome. V1 is evolving, it is great to see. Especially since it LEARNS from the Prime souls!
@@greywalker505 well, good news, the Violence layer got added into the game, which also includes LORE. let me just say that this awakened V1 would understand Minos Prime's comment about machine's crimes against humanity.

been trying to rank war, order, and death of gods will for some time, death of gods will hits perfectly some days but is mostly at the bottom, and for most of the month order tops this one, but once you havent listened to it, for just long enough, it blows you away with how powerful it is, and blows order out of the water, its impossible to rank this song due to this nature of back and forth. A perfect Masterpiece.
yall, what if the reason panopticon is so much strong than prison, is because it acts as body for the soul to prevent it from escaping, and since sisyphus is much stronger than minos, the body is stronger too. obviously, its a lot like a husk, being unthinking, acting off instinct, to prevent it being used as a meatshield
I love how this perfectly matches my experience with this level. Eerie and somewhat creepy to intense, then to awe and joy, to ABSOLUTELY FUCKING VIBING! to having my vibe ruined by Pandemonium and then dealing with this neckbeard jackass.
@@StickBreightley Minos' Soul was hidden in his own corpse, and we still have to bust him out ourselves. The kept Sisyphus' head, body, and soul each on separate layers of Hell, further down from the last. Sisyphus rips himself out when he realizes his prison is weakened.
@@isengarde9490 Okay? A Prime Soul is a soul that continues living without a husk. Sisyphus’ husk is dead and its location has no effect on how strong his soul is. The reason we have to bust Minos out ourselves is because his soul didn’t have time to take shape after his husk was killed. Sisyphus’ soul took shape way faster and they sealed him in the Panopticon at the last second.

Rainworld has this thing called threat music which uses different layers depending if its an active threat or potential threat
the game Severed also has dynamic music for calm and battle themes
i think most ultrakill tracks do this? and many other games
"....and i dont regret a second of it."
yes, yes, YES!
"HOW YOU THINK THAT WOULD WORK ON ME? don't you know am dead inside?"
Some fat guy in puss in boots
I thought that he wasnt talking about if he regrated his action, but was more about how he enjoyed his existences.
The dude is the embodiment of a sinister smirk and that's probably what makes him sound more human than Minos. He wasn't the best kind of ruler humanity ever saw, he was the violence every human has inside personified
What I imagine hearing Sisyphus' death monolog:
His body's light has been dimmed by the stains of his own blood, which has finally run dry because of the mechanical menace.

@@driuanderer thanks m8!
im here to remind you that
V1 casualy killed two kings that have been punished by gods themselfs, so V1 can either fight with god like creatures or Minos and Sisyphus are a bit more advanced than humans since V1 was created to fight humans and other robots
The forces of heaven couldn't even get rid of the Prime souls so they imprisoned them, then V1 came along
i think v1's robotic need for blood had unintentionally driven it to hell. it was probably made to do anything it can to get blood to keep itself going, and the godlike creature-killing part was probably unintentional
And we know V1 feels as well, evidenced by the narration when V2 tries to run in 4-4, V1 straight up narrates to himself "You're not getting away this time."
It goes deeper though, as in Ultrakill, God created Hell and then couldn't unmake it.

It refuels on blood, nothing else does
If everything has blood, it can bleed, if it can bleed, it is fuel.

(A little fanfic of sorts I thought I’d write here, because I’m an impulsive writer.)
“So concludes the life and times of King Sisyphus,” the King sighed as he hung his head, seemingly morose.
