Hakita is a frenzied artist for sure; he apparently grinded out Gabriel’s theme less than 24 hours before the release, and afterwards the toll of the stress on his body caused him to vomit for hours. I really hope he balances his work in the future, because that’s fucking insane, but also, holy shit, I sometimes wish I had such a level of dedication to art that I became physically ill from the fervor of my work. Everything about this game from it’s gameplay, lore, soundtrack, characters, and even development is fucking metal. This is already my second favorite game of all time and it isn’t even done.
@@Blind_Obsession Same people, Sky was beautiful too but it didn’t capture me quite as much as Journey did due to it’s focus on microcurrency (they have to make money somehow I guess)
And who knows maybe he had a much grander idea of the soundtrack in his head but didn’t have enough time to make it real. imagine that soundtrack but better i personally cant
@@strongfish92 I think under certain circumstances working under constraints and deadlines makes the product better. If well and properly thought out I think the emotion in music can get overshadowed by logical thinking. While I don’t promote it I think it’s an effective way to get a damn good song as Hakita has proven. Another great example is Daredevil from Ace Combat 7, written in like the final month before the game launched
@@__bepis____bepis__308 Another example would be Halo 2s ost, the game was made in 9 months and arguably has the best soundtrack in the whole franchise
ULTRAKILL is a game that means a lot to me. It gave me hope in an otherwise utterly hopeless time in my life, and being able to make memes and contribute to the community has been a genuine joy and an absolute pleasure. I think what a lot of people don't talk about as much are the phenomenal overarching themes of the game. In a world where gods and angels blindly kill and follow orders to maintain tradition, the fire is gone. The only human thing that remains in this broken world is the songs that play in the terminals. Thinking for a second about what you're killing in the game, they're zombies. Husks. Amalgamations of flesh and stone. Twisted, hollow remnants of humanity, with the only thing of value remaining to be their blood. Although, yes, you are purging all the life on the upper layers, was there ever any life to begin with? Some of these beings have turned to worship, like the Sisyphean Insurrectionists and the Ferryman; all worshipping others they don’t truly grasp the intent of, nor are they aware of the circumstances behind their actions. Minos is a prime example of a lot of the game's themes; a phantom chasing phantoms. The literal ghost of man unable to come to terms with what the world has become because he refuses to see any alternate solution other than killing you, his freer. Perhaps I'm reading far too much into this. Maybe I'm seeing too much in a silly game where robots murder everything in sight in hell. But when everything does crumble to ash, all life in hell is eradicated entirely, and that terminal does sing, I might just cry.
47:30 I remember 1-3 so vividly. One of the first levels i played, i got my ass handed to me by the hideous mass, time, after time, after time. That was probably the first part of the game i really got stuck on for a bit. In an absolute genius display of game design, these scene happens *two* of the masses spawn in, with the most badass remix of Castle Vein you could ask for Tearing them both apart with all my new tools, and especially my new knowledge, I felt truly unstoppable
Literally the same way I felt. The musical leitmotif really helps hammer in the badass feeling that we've come looong ways to get to where we are now, and we've all become unstoppable killing machines in the process. Kind of an "all grown up, I'm a big boy now" feeling.
In game, the transition between Gabriel's frenzied rant and the song "Death of Gods Will" made my hair stand up on the back of my neck and froze me in place so solidly I was killed in seconds. Absolutely marvelous.
Yeah, it helps that he grabs your attention almost immediately by *slamming* his fists down on the organ. He knows you probably kinda laughed him off the first time, and he is *pissed* about it, and so he *firmly grabs* your attention so that you’ll listen.

I bet 10 dollars Hakita got straight A+ on every music theory exam because he managed to fucking crank Death of Gods Will within hours before the games 2nd chapter
The entire soundtrack of this game so far is absolutely kickass. Edit: I also love how some of the songs have their own artwork, it’s a really nice touch.
I literally can't stop listening to Altars of Apostasy, it may be the best piece of music I've ever heard in a game. The feeling I had when I heard it ingame for the first time was something completely new to me, I was almost jumping on my chair when the Castle Vein remix came. I'm so infatuated by this game I'm beginning to think some black magic is involved in it.
I took a bit of time to find other songs in the black metal genre that were close to it (I haven't really listened to that genre before) and I could not find anything that could match the emotions, the story, and the richness that was in AoA. Fucking amazing, I thought ORDER was peak ULTRAKILL and Hakita somehow topped that by multitudes. I can listen to a song I like multitudes of times in loop, but I don't think I've ever listened to the same piece of music every day for SEVEN MONTHS STRAIGHT since the update released. If I could extract every thought I've had while listening to this single, I'd have an essay piece on my hands.
In the picture for The Death of God's Will, who is Gabriel stabbing? I don't know if that's a councilor member, or if it's Gabriel striking himself down (death of his identity as the Righteous Hand of the Father or the death of his faith), I do prefer the latter interpretation but I'd love to hear what it is.
that dude that left the discords gonna need a few more tubes of toothpaste here i was obsessed with everything 6-1, and now hearing a finished death of gods will, mm unbelievably good
@@dooplon5083 there was a guy on hakitas discord that said if Gabriel's boss music turns out to be good he will eat toothpaste. He leaved shortly after hearing it.
Man who fuckin knows what act 3 is gonna be like like holy shit act 2 blew me away especially the ost it's the most dynamic and fun the soundtrack has ever been. Not sure what hakkita has in mind for the next act but I hope it's as fuckin good as this act because not only does it kick the most ass so much ass, the levels were fucking fantastic. Love this damn game so much I have like over 3,000 hours on this game alone. Love you hakkita can't fuckin wait what comes next GOD BLESS MURDER ROBOTS.
*I know I'm most likely wrong about this , but I'll say it anyway* I feel that in Ultrakill's soundtrack , the various instruments represent a lot of what is actually going on in the game . The electric guitar mainly represents V1 , so in Act 1 the earlier tracks have alot of heavy guitar sounds , as if V1 himself is "talking" in the soundtrack (or just losing it) . Drums i feel like they represent Hell itself , and the other instruments represent the bosses or a certain map of a level (e.g Castle Vein) . I noticed that , especially in boss fight tracks , it's almost as if the main instrument of the track is kinda "interrupted"(or just plays on top of it) by heavy guitar that play the same notes , like a battle for which instrument overtakes the other , like a fight . For example , in death of god's will , the main leitmotif switches between Gabriel's instruments ( i think its the violin and the choir) and V1's ( guitar ) . It feels like the instruments themselves are fighting each other while you fight with Gabriel . And since V1 always wins since he is the player , the final moments of the major bossfight songs dont have guitar , but have a slowly fading outro mainly played by the boss's instrument or just have no guitar by the end , signifying that they lost the fight . The guitar is constant in almost every song , while the rest aren't as common . Since the only constant is that v1 is there and he is the only one left alive by the end , the guitar gets to continue being in other tracks while you will not hear King Minos' violin again since you killed him .
The Death of God's Will is an absolutely fucking gnarly metal track. it deserves a reimagining into a standalone song, i think. the solos and the pauses are flawless.
I'm glad I discovered how GOOD this game was just before Act 2 dropped. I regret not having played it earlier, this game has quickly become a favorite of mine. Good work, Hakita, PITR, and everybody else who worked on this. ULTRAKILL is, by all definitions, a masterpiece, and it's not even finished.
I have the same feeling but mine was about 6 months ago. I can imagine how much fun it was to discover this game right now where it is even better and it will always get better.
@@halfmettlealchemist8076 not sisyphus pay attention, sheesh -that aside, i really have no idea who it could be- -but i know that v2 is completely out of the picture-
@@halfmettlealchemist8076 There is one possibility I can think of. The Leviathan was made out of the bodies of the Sullen, which are those who gave up fighting in the ocean Styx. Its heart is made up of their souls. Said heart tried to escape its body, but Gabriel struck it down, pinning it back onto its head. This all sounds familiar. Gabriel was the one who trapped Minos' soul inside the flesh prison, because of the threat that prime souls pose to heaven. I think it's reasonable to assume that the heart of the Leviathan was also deemed dangerous to heaven. And now that we've killed the Leviathan, it's very likely that we're just released the souls of the Sullen.
I just noticed that in the art of Gabriel piercing someone with his spear, it's not V1 like I'd originally thought. Rather, it's Gabriel himself. Likely an illustration of how he changes after the events of 6-2, the angel that served in the name of God is dead. now only exists an angel who shall liberate heaven from the council's rule.
Could also be a council member. And if you look closer its like the spear is also going through his own head, symbolizing the how he basically finished himself off (both his image, and literally his life, since he cant really live without the gods light) by killing the council. And to top off the message of "betraying god", the sillhouette of the drawing is an upside down cross
a comment from one of the old gamerip video Out of all of these bangers of track oddly enough 5-2 calm is my favorite 24:45 Seeing a ocean of endless arms desperately reaching out for some savor to rescue them from this perpetual torment combined with seeing the titanic a ship were so many lost their lives to the cold dark ocean raise out of the water set the mood perfectly for me. We are all always so focused on V1 being an unstable badass that no one stops to think how tragically humanity ended and what this machine with artificial intelligence thinks or feels about this. Dose it just run by focused on its mission with no distractions or dose it take a second to feel the dread and pain for those still trapped under. Desperately wanting to reach out to pull one of these hands out and save one of these innocent souls from undeserved eternal damnation knowing all to well that if it did it would be pulled under too. To become another desperately reaching hand out of this endless sea. I suppose it’s up to how the player reacts because after all Man kind is dead Blood is fuel Hell is full
@@ultra-nationalistodst8085 I mean, clearly V2 has a sense for theatrics with the fight intros, so I'd imagine V1 is not too different. I feel like since it was said that the lowpoly graphics are from V1 preserving the processing power, this implies that the style meter is something V1 intentionally added.
@@ultra-nationalistodst8085 If V1 had the chance to, then he killed millions of humans with his bare hands. He is implied to be ending all of hell in the time frame of a single day. If mankind is dead, then who better to have killed it?
it's a just brief switch to triplets, a rhythmic subdivision of a longer note into 3 instead of 2 like the "normal" ones. Depending on if it faster or slower (let's say, from 8th notes you could go to quarter note triplets or 8th triplets) it could create an accelerated or, as used here, stumbling sort of feel
ULTRAKILL is a game about killing and becoming better. This game has done alot more to me than make me better at aiming. This game has started my music career, my love and interest in the genres I produce. It showed me amen breaks, my favorite aspect to use in any song, it showed me how I should use distortion correctly, it showed me how to add layers to a song, make it more filled. This game is truly a masterpiece, even though its made by 2 people (I think, not including Gianni or Dave).
The plot is so much more harrowing that I would have ever thought.. Not only did the machines exterminate all of humanity, but now they, likely thousands of bloodlusted metal beings with insatiable hunger are following in the player's wake, and there's no God to put an end to this. Everyone was left at the mercy of the machines, even heaven.
i have a feeling that it wasnt the machines that killed humanity as i dont think its ever explicitly stated that that is what happened, but thats just my theory
@@cuboxy it’s genuinely most likely the machines. You are right that it’s never out right states what Caused humanity to end but the machines are the only possible candidate. Hell was being tapped into by humanity sure but almost everything there is either too deep into hell or not intelligent enough to even think of leaving. Then again prelude exists filled with husks so take this with a grain of salt.
@@cuboxy in the entries it says the Father gave up on humanity. I don’t think the machines are innocent but I have a feeling that they weren’t the only ones.
@@cuboxy I assumed it was the machines since Minos says "The crimes *thy kind* have commited agains humanity" kinda implies it, but it's possible he could just be referring to their involvement in the war. But it leaves me wondering if there was peace after and machines like V1, V2, and Swordmachine weren't necessary, why are they still active? They would have been disabled since there wasn't any more bloodshed that fueled them. So WHO is sending them to hell? It's been a while since I've read the lore on the machines though so maybe I forgot something important.
It's crazy how hakita is versatile in these soundtracks. The guy can go from a violent breakcore to some really melancholic and chill tunes. I've rarely seen this kind of mastery in music before.
Oh man what can I say....this soundtrack is truly incredible. The atmosphere it creates, the pacing, how each track encapsulates the feeling and essence of each level. I mean the sheer complexity of some of these tracks is impressive on its own. This is honestly another step up from Act 1's already extremely solid soundtrack and it never ceases to amaze me, by the way, how you're producing OST of this quality whilst building the entire game at the same time. Also I really appreciate the transitions not only between songs, but within the songs themselves; a perfect example of this is the melancholic string and harpsichord opening of 5-2 perfectly setting the stage for the ferrymans theme to come out of nowhere and absolutely hit like a train. It really helps the soundtrack feel like a musical landscape, as opposed to just a collection of tracks stacked together. It's been awesome to see your composition style develop as the game progresses too, and I wish you all the good luck with the development of Act 3 and its music. I'm gonna have this one on repeat for a long while :)
Love how the cover for deep blue v1 is falling with the water above him then in 6-1s music he's rising above what used to be water and are now hands trying to snatch him
Hakita has such energy to not only make continuous kickass songs, but also to set in a certain emotion. For example, realizing V2 is gonna be the boss at the beginning of 4-4 with his leitmotif, fan-girling over the newly added saxophone solo in Deep Blue mid-level, and essentially ALL of the music in 6-1, the damned beginning, the buildup to the main part of the level, and the return of the Hideous Mass. It made my heart pound constantly, an experience I essentially *never* have gaming, but this very game is so, so very special
amazing how many people i recognize in the live stream from the discord servers my favourite stage is probably 6-1, amazing visuals, pretty cool enemy placements and arenas and my favourite themes in the game
I love 5-3 cause it has solid gameplay i love. Im not the biggest fan of 6-1 due to the many pitfalls. I like closed in levels more, with plenty of ground to style on. 6-1 is still really good.
6-1's track is one of the best songs I've seen in gaming, it perfectly captures the theme of the level and context and is beautifully done. The combined motifs and perfect guitar chord progression is amazing. I've been listening to this on repeat since release of the act. (Edit) 6-2 was also wonderfully done and the new mix is great, I do wish though personally that Gabe’s speech was in the song Wrath is pretty good overall and I enjoy it quite a lot. Greed is pretty solid too. Overall awesome soundtrack and definitely one of the best I’ve seen in the genre. Fantastic, can’t wait until the next layer.
I wonder how the boss layout for the final 3 layers will be. If you look at it, it goes: Act 1- Limbo - V2 Lust - corpse of king Minos Gluttony - Gabriel Act 2- Greed - V2 Wrath - Leviathan Heresy - Gabriel The first layers in the 2 acts have been V2, and the second layers have been large-scale battles against massive foes, while the last layers have been fights against Gabriel. With V2 dead, I wonder who or what the boss got the first layer of act 3 will be.
Really hope it'll be Gabe for the violence layer's boss, Having his story conclude soon instead of at the very last layer would mean there'd something much bigger to come
am I the only one that noticed how instead of just having one cover for the entire OST, like the last soundtrack, they now have individual little works of art for basically every song, and I freaking love it.
The two sections from 44:47 - 45:14 and 46:44 - 47:23 respectively are some of my favourite returns to leitmotif in this game's entire soundtrack - they evoke a feeling different from any other (in my opinion), saying "you're here, you're doing wonderfully, keep going." Of course, add the Glory leitmotif to the mix as well as the stunning extension the second time it comes around, and you have a piece I really can't stop listening to, in game and out of it. Not forgetting the Castle Vein drop moments later mind you, the twin health bars appearing as Gabriel finishes speaking and it cuts in were an experience I already know Act III will bring back to me. Oh, and the piano at the end is just incredible, especially at the climax (1:00:26) - I wish I took longer to read the dialogue so I heard it ingame, the tone is perfect. You're a mad genius, Hakita - thank you. Edit: oh my god, and The Death of God's Will??! Hearing the drop at 51:10 ingame was a religious experience having listened to Divine Intervention a LOT, brought to new heights by Gianni's perfect voice work, as usual. Seriously, I can't praise this music enough, the game is something else.
47:34 That Castle Vein motif was a genius move by Hakita. Hideous Masses is one of the most meaningful enemies in the game, because when I played the demo version and was saving money to get the full game, a Hideous Mass would spawn at 1-1, ending the demo. I then watched some gameplay videos, which confused me when I didn't see the Hideous Mass in 1-1 but in 1-3 instead. When I finally bought the game, I quickly progressed to 1-3 and found the Hideous Mass. I died so many times, even in the Standard difficulty. Even though to this day, I still fear the Hideous Mass, but it's still one of my favorites, and it brings me back to "the old days" where I didn't have the full game. When they first appear as a normal enemy in 6-1, and the motif plays, it really feels like Hakita knew what he was doing when he was creating that mission. Surely one of my favorite video game OST motifs.
Random thought, what if for act 3, most of the new enemies are new angel, following in the step of Gabriel rebellion against the council, trying to help him and while being blinded by their adoration toward him, they try to kill V1 to make him repay for the humiliation he made Gabriel suffer
Ultrakill might be one of the first games that made a water level that has fantastic music and also doesn't suck. Sweet baby jesus, "Deep Blue" Is simultaneously energetic yet calming. And the fact it gets muffled when you go underwater....just, *muah*.
I loved the screen that shows when you have to “insert” the disc for act II. Something about it felt like someone breaking the 4th wall. I hope we get it again for Act III
Dude gabriel’s song is soooo good cause the first time we encounter him he’s overconfident and you can hear that in the music compare to the second encounter he’s angry and desperate to right his wrong and you can also hear that in the music thats what i love about ultrakill’s soundtrack it tells you a story and i cant wait for the second prime boss
My friend literally told me to just listen to the music of this game before I gained a new hyperfixation and oh my good LORD??? HOW HAVE I NEVER BEEN INTERESTED IN THIS?
Honestly Leviathan's theme is underrated. It really feels fitting for a giant serpent of flesh and stone, and I'd say it's thanks to how heavy the notes feel in between the pauses.
hakita you did an amazing job with ultrakill. i started playing a little bit after greed came out and at first i was skeptical of the game, but playing it more i can safely say it's one of my favorite fps. the level of polish thats already here despite being early access still is mindblowing, you've made something really special.
I’m not sure why but i’m so fixated, out of every banger in this album, on the choice of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, 2nd movement in allegretto. Obviously, many other songs take the cake as absolute masterpieces, and it’s hard to not call one of the songs in Imperfect Hatred good, but 7th Symphony, 2nd Movement feels special in the sense of capturing a feeling. Specifically the cover in the game as well. It fits so well over a broken council of gods watching their demise as a husk of metal fueled by a grueling and common resource descents on them at whatever speed it falls at. It’s like a perfect embodiment in the context the game puts it in. A collective perfectionist’s ego being broken down as it tries to keep composure simultaneously, like trying to prevent your voice from cracking. It was a perfect closure to Act II, and I loved every other bit of it just the same. I loved seeing a game I’ve been passionate about for almost 2 years now finally be recognized for the impact of its story despite being prized as the wacko-nuts shooter in the industry for a while. I don’t know how you do it, Hakita. One man, and countless great decisions; it’s everything I’d wanna be.
I feel like ULTRAKILL is that game that I've been missing this whole time. not many games are based around being fast paced, and ultrakill feels like you're not only sprinting, but sprinting up a mountain where you have to fight 4 bears at once, with only your gun and your knife. It is intense, sure, but that's most of the fun. just doing things fast. of course the game makes you think through your actions, but it becomes even MORE fun when you don't need to do that, and can clear a patch of filth by alternating between the feedbacker punch and basic piercer revolver shots. Each layer of hell is different with its own style of music to compliment it as well, making it more immersive to the place you are in. Prelude may have been seen as generic, but I find it really fun to come back to so I can fight swordsmachine. hell, this game is so good that sometimes I'll simply start at prelude and proceed to play through most of the game (that is out currently, that being till 6-2) Enemy variety also is pretty good, with some hiccups here and there, sure, but the game is in early access and I bet that everything will feel just right in the end. People were complaining about how the freezeframe rocket launcher variant felt to use, but it felt alright honestly, I didn't use the stopping time mechanic that much unless I needed to rocket ride, but I'm sure that the other variants will make it more viable to use. Anyway, this game good, can't wait to see what's next!
@@IfeelNotSafe I never heard the transition between The Abyss and The Serpent & Chord of the Crooked Saints before...until a few minutes ago. The dying drone of chimes and drums spiraling down, only to be hollowed out into harsh noise. Masterful.
Utterly flawless soundtrack, the bass, the drums, the guitar, everything just blends together to make one of the most kickass soundtracks I've ever heard.
What I like about Hakita's music is it's startup. The startup always or sometimes starts with a quire. Example of this is Minos Prime theme and Gabriel 1 and 2 fight theme. All 3 of those startup's has a quire. And the actual fight continues that quire but adds a little bit of notes.

But when everything does crumble to ash, all life in hell is eradicated entirely, and that terminal does sing,
I might just cry.
You're definitely not looking too deep into this game stfu.

That one (if i recall correctly) might look like another very "Stereotypical Hell" layer (like heresy)
*I know I'm most likely wrong about this , but I'll say it anyway*
I feel that in Ultrakill's soundtrack , the various instruments represent a lot of what is actually going on in the game . Since the only constant is that v1 is there and he is the only one left alive by the end , the guitar gets to continue being in other tracks while you will not hear King Minos' violin again since you killed him .
that... thats a good point...now I cant stop thinking about that...

@@halfmettlealchemist8076 it's not sysiphus. His body was on full display in the secret room of 4-4 where you get the buzzsaw launcher
He only has his own rule to follow, not God's, not the council. This was Gabriel finding his own meaning without guidence from a higher power.

Gianni is just a voice actor
The plot is so much more harrowing that I would have ever thought.. Not only did the machines exterminate all of humanity, but now they, likely thousands of bloodlusted metal beings with insatiable hunger are following in the player's wake, and there's no God to put an end to this. Everyone was left at the mercy of the machines, even heaven.

I love 5-3 cause it has solid gameplay i love. Im not the biggest fan of 6-1 due to the many pitfalls. I like closed in levels more, with plenty of ground to style on. 6-1 is still really good.
@@ImNotFine44 tbh 5-3 is my most hated level because of the damn darkness
I mean it's not bad but the darkness is just annoying
@@skirkimantas8985 you’re thinking of 4-2 mate. We dont count the prologue when numbering and neither does the game. 5-3 is the ship.
@@ImNotFine44 Oh yea fuck sorry, it's 4-3 not 4-2 but yeah my bad
6-1's track is one of the best songs I've seen in gaming, it perfectly captures the theme of the level and context and is beautifully done. The combined motifs and perfect guitar chord progression is amazing. I've been listening to this on repeat since release of the act.
(Edit)
6-2 was also wonderfully done and the new mix is great, I do wish though personally that Gabe’s speech was in the song
Wrath is pretty good overall and I enjoy it quite a lot.
Greed is pretty solid too.
Overall awesome soundtrack and definitely one of the best I’ve seen in the genre.
Fantastic, can’t wait until the next layer.
chord of the crooked saints is the best track ever
thank you for incluiding the loud ass noise that plays when you get to heresy, hearing a harsh noise track in a game ost made my fucking week
also the leviathan theme gives me metal slug vibes
I like how everyone agreed on calling the track "The loud ass noise"

I wonder how the boss layout for the final 3 layers will be.
If you look at it, it goes:
Act 1-
Limbo - V2
Lust - corpse of king Minos
Gluttony - Gabriel
Act 2-
Greed - V2
Wrath - Leviathan
Heresy - Gabriel
The first layers in the 2 acts have been V2, and the second layers have been large-scale battles against massive foes, while the last layers have been fights against Gabriel.
With V2 dead, I wonder who or what the boss got the first layer of act 3 will be.
Mmm... Gold V3?
v2 v2!
Really hope it'll be Gabe for the violence layer's boss, Having his story conclude soon instead of at the very last layer would mean there'd something much bigger to come
My guesses:
Violence- V0
Fraud- a demon prince
Treachery- Gabriel round 3, then Lucifer
Prime Sanctum- Adam and Eve
it's gonna be V2 again. I fixed him hes back Everythings Fine
"A rushed game is never good unless you're Hakita and you're making the soundtrack at the last minute"
-Some guy from nintendo or something
hakita has improved so much over the course of making this game and it really shows with the soundtrack too
Agreed
If the machines seek blood. He would give it freely; and with such fury, even metal will bleed...
am I the only one that noticed how instead of just having one cover for the entire OST, like the last soundtrack, they now have individual little works of art for basically every song, and I freaking love it.
Fracis is goated for pumping these out
The two sections from 44:47 - 45:14 and 46:44 - 47:23 respectively are some of my favourite returns to leitmotif in this game's entire soundtrack - they evoke a feeling different from any other (in my opinion), saying "you're here, you're doing wonderfully, keep going." Of course, add the Glory leitmotif to the mix as well as the stunning extension the second time it comes around, and you have a piece I really can't stop listening to, in game and out of it.
52:10 is another good one
27:38 absolutely loving that Samus reference in the artwork
I mean the rocket launcher was themed after her arm cannon so it'd be weird I they hadn't referenced it lol
I hope this gets a vinyl or CD release
I want to put the Ultrakill soundtrack on on my record player for my grandkids to listen to

That Castle Vein motif was a genius move by Hakita.
Surely one of my favorite video game OST motifs.
and then p-2 gives you an hideous mass protected by an idol and you cry
He talks about this in a stream. He said it was inspired by a fan level about V2 not dying in 4-4.
Random thought, what if for act 3, most of the new enemies are new angel, following in the step of Gabriel rebellion against the council, trying to help him and while being blinded by their adoration toward him, they try to kill V1 to make him repay for the humiliation he made Gabriel suffer
Bruh how does (mostly) one guy make both an amazing game and amazing music for the game, Hakita is an absolute Gigachad.
among other things, past experience and feedback from this whoever named "dave oshry" or something

Ultrakill might be one of the first games that made a water level that has fantastic music and also doesn't suck.
Sweet baby jesus, "Deep Blue" Is simultaneously energetic yet calming. And the fact it gets muffled when you go underwater....just, *muah*.
And the sax... don't even get me started on that beautiful sax!!!
I loved the screen that shows when you have to “insert” the disc for act II. Something about it felt like someone breaking the 4th wall. I hope we get it again for Act III
52:34 man those off key notes give me chills, such a great way to show Gabriel's entirely different sense of mind now, far more broken than before
Just now realising that Gabriel is shaped like a sword on the cover
And if you flip your screen upside down, it will kind of look like a cross
Dude gabriel’s song is soooo good cause the first time we encounter him he’s overconfident and you can hear that in the music compare to the second encounter he’s angry and desperate to right his wrong and you can also hear that in the music thats what i love about ultrakill’s soundtrack it tells you a story and i cant wait for the second prime boss
I love the fact that you can hear glimpses of the Glory soundtrack in Altars of Apostasy .
My friend literally told me to just listen to the music of this game before I gained a new hyperfixation and oh my good LORD??? HOW HAVE I NEVER BEEN INTERESTED IN THIS?
I kinda shrugged the game off for a while until I heard Tenebre Rosso Sangue
I'm so glad I got into this game
Duel is exactly the music for a thing like "death battle of robots in hell".
I love how he took the best parts of Castlevein and seamlessly mixed it with the more hardcore drums and electric guitar of altars of apostasy
This is honestly the best soundtrack ive ever heard for a game!
13:20 goodbye brother. You fought well.
"MACHINE, I WILL CUT YOU DOWN."
The spare change in my pocket:
I'm going to ULTRAKILL you with my +FISTFUL OF DOLLAR
As a wise man said: “This game is the official sequel to sex.”
that one transition between fallen angel and The Death of God's will is so smooth ngl
God damn, the improvements to Gabriel's theme compared to the original is phenomenal. Absolutely killer work as always.
43:33 it was this song, Altars of Apostasy. Specifically this is what really got me into wanting to play Ultrakill
Oh this is from one of the best games of all time? I just thought it was the follow-up to a really neat album.
there's a game?
Furi soundtrack arranged guy

Hey I remember you, so you really did try the game
oh, glad you enjoyed the game!
Prelude may have been seen as generic, but I find it really fun to come back to so I can fight swordsmachine. hell, this game is so good that sometimes I'll simply start at prelude and proceed to play through most of the game (that is out currently, that being till 6-2)
Enemy variety also is pretty good, with some hiccups here and there, sure, but the game is in early access and I bet that everything will feel just right in the end.
The transitions between each track. Godlike
Its like hakita made a medley with all of these songs
@@IfeelNotSafe I never heard the transition between The Abyss and The Serpent & Chord of the Crooked Saints before...until a few minutes ago.
The dying drone of chimes and drums spiraling down, only to be hollowed out into harsh noise.
Masterful.
@@serraramayfield9230 thats hakita for ya hes that good
Utterly flawless soundtrack, the bass, the drums, the guitar, everything just blends together to make one of the most kickass soundtracks I've ever heard.
What I like about Hakita's music is it's startup. The startup always or sometimes starts with a quire. Example of this is Minos Prime theme and Gabriel 1 and 2 fight theme. All 3 of those startup's has a quire. And the actual fight continues that quire but adds a little bit of notes.
Quire? You mean Choir?
