In a historic place called Lepakshi, there lived a bright and enthusiastic boy named Jatayu. Jatayu was known for his vast knowledge and curiosity for learning new things. He could talk for hours about science, history, and even the stars in the sky. However, Jatayu had one big problem-he didn’t engage in any physical activities. Instead, he spent most of his time on his gadgets, eating junk food, and staying up late.
Jatayu’s life was full of frustration. His classmates at school were noisy, and some even bullied him. At home, his father would give him long lectures about his behavior and schoolwork. Jatayu always responded with, "Stop annoying me!" or "Leave me alone!" He often used bad words and found comfort in unhealthy snacks and gadgets. His disturbed sleep made him tired, and he often fell sick because of his low immunity.
One afternoon, after a particularly difficult day at school where his classmates teased him and called him names, Jatayu walked home, feeling more upset than ever. He kicked a pebble down the road and muttered, "Why can’t everyone just leave me alone?"
As he walked through the park, he saw his grandpa sitting on a bench, feeding the birds. His grandpa had a warm smile and gentle eyes. Noticing Jatayu’s troubled expression, his grandpa said, "Hello Jatayu, you look like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. What’s troubling you?"
Jatayu sighed and sat down next to his grandpa. "Everyone at school is loud and mean to me. Dad keeps lecturing me, and I just want to be left alone. I feel so angry all the time."
Grandpa nodded thoughtfully. "It sounds like you’re carrying a lot of heavy feelings. Did you know that holding onto anger is like carrying a heavy backpack full of rocks? The more you carry, the heavier it feels. Would you like to learn how to lighten your load and find some happiness?"
Jatayu was curious. "How can I do that?"
Grandpa smiled kindly. "There’s a special magic in taking care of yourself and being kind to others. Here’s what you can do: start by including some physical activities in your routine, eating healthy foods, and getting enough sleep. When you feel upset, instead of using hurtful words, try talking calmly. This will help you feel better and make it easier to handle the challenges you face."
Jatayu was unsure but decided to give it a try. That night, he put away his gadgets early, ate a healthy dinner, and went to bed on time. The next morning, he woke up feeling more rested and energetic than he had in a long time.
At school, when his classmates started teasing him, Jatayu took a deep breath and remembered his grandpa’s advice. Instead of shouting, "Stop annoying me!" he said calmly, "I know we all have bad days, but it’s not nice to be mean. Let’s try to get along."
The other kids were surprised by Jatayu’s calm response. One of the bullies, a boy named Dasharatha, looked down and said, "I’m sorry, Jatayu. I didn’t know you were feeling that way. I’ve been having a hard time too."
Jatayu smiled and replied, "It’s okay, Dasharatha. Maybe we can be friends instead."
That afternoon, when Jatayu got home, his father started to lecture him again. But this time, Jatayu didn’t shout, "Leave me alone!" Instead, he said, "Dad, can we talk? I feel upset when you lecture me. Maybe we can find a better way to talk about things."
His father was surprised but glad to hear Jatayu speak so calmly. They had a heartfelt conversation, and for the first time, Jatayu felt like his father understood him.
Over the next few weeks, Jatayu made several positive changes. He included a short morning walk and some simple exercises in his routine, started eating more fruits and vegetables, went to bed on time, and spent less time on his gadgets. He noticed that he felt healthier and had more energy. At school, he made an effort to talk kindly to others and soon started to make new friends. The bullying decreased, and Jatayu found himself feeling happier and more at peace.
Jatayu realized that by taking care of himself and treating others with kindness, he could let go of his anger and make his world a much brighter and more joyful place.
