I think we weren't born on this earth just to maintain a good cv. We have personal life as well. Even if we took a break to travel, startup etc I think one should stand confidently, because life is what one must design on our self.
*In India career gap is very common as many people after graduation prepares for govt services and gives minimum 2-3 years of his life to crack that exam while only 1% people do crack. Corporate Industry should accept these reality to consider. Every human seeks stability and good work life balance. Many Private corporates have huge issue with work life balance and toxic relationship inside the corporate premise which triggers attrition and people leave the job either to start preparing for govt service or some other company which provides them good work life balance and healthy office culture. In last many companies got exposed online for the toxic work culture inside* office .Example : Byjus , Infosys etc Pandemic has proved that human beings have reached the highest level of taking pressure and is no longer ready to lose mental health for extra dollars. They are either upskilling or shifting to preparation of govt service India is a pool of talents but just by rejecting someone for career gap is not an wise option for corporates to retain talents. May be the rejected candidate could become star performer if absorbed. HR ' team are supposed to read the psychology of the candidate whether he/she can do the job or not if trained well and providing conductive environment. But sadly Indian HR's are trained with old methodology to choose a candidate .Our society is changing everyday and getting matured.HR should also analyse the society structural changes happening
100 percent correct.. I was impacted due to such criterias even after having great academics criteria and resorted in small scale and mid size companies as they considered gaps and helped to grow a lot after 2008 recession career gap and as a guidance less candidate post passed out
Post Covid, career gap has become a common thing..even with many male employees. People are paying more attention to family member's health over their jobs. Because sabattical leaves are not approved in many cases. So you will have to leave the job to take care of your family member
Her content showcases honesty in every minute. I can relate to the situation because I've gone through the career gap experience. I left my corporate job and started my own business but eventually, I won't survive it for long and I had to quit. Now after several months, I got a job in my industry again.
I have career gap. I'm quite ok-ish in Electronics (my degree). My many friends got job in 7th semester only in mass recruiting companies, I couldn't somehow (at one point later I noticed there wasn't "next round" button for english comprehension, it was "end test" button). Then I couldn't make till after giving 8th semester exam. Then somehow I got one (private IT job), there weren't trainers for my current batch. Seniors used to make vidoes which was like 2 to 5% & we had to figure out rest by ourselves. So, I quit, thinking if I put efforts somewhere else, I'd get better. Then I spent 2 years in government job preparation. Missed by 15 to 18 rank. Back to search for private job again. Again couldn't find private job because there was overhiring in last 2 years... So... I'm going back to govt job preparation 😤😤 screw it, what you think govt job aspirants stories end up with private job? 😤 no, I cannot get/find getting a private job either 😤 Screw IT industry, mass layoffs, staying up to date & all nonsense. You guys' field looks worse than govt job competition, "Fast paced environment", "quick learning", "eager to learn technology quickly" & F you non sense, can't even see impact on society. Whereas impact of Electrical engineers is directly seen in society at any instance of time.
I am also from EE bro. Most of my friends are working in different companies. I resigned from a mnc due to health issues. Not yet recovered from it. Feeling very low, low confidence.. because of health issues. Also, none of my so called close friends talking to me like earlier.
im having 15+ yrs experience & was working for 10 yrs in a co., due to pandemic the co. branch closed in my area, so i tried for job in diff fields, n also started learning a new skill online now its 2 yrs of employment gap, just today got a call from a placement consultant, the person was just highlighting the gap negatively bfore understanding anything..it was as if a person is unemployable if he/she has a career gap due to any reason whatsoever.. rather than knowing the required skill for the job..just saw your video and found helpful
Amazing video.I think one way It’s better to mention career gap in resume under that career gap section you can justify your gap and what professional development/ up skilling you have done in that period . Now a days some recruiters are understanding your career gap .
You are very right, when people have career gap they blame the rejection on it !! But society around, recruitment teams and interviewers also contribute in that thinking. Resume Shortlisting gets drastically reduced if you have a Gap, Interview is a distant thing. May be if Orgs can convey this to people , who are unemployed bcoz they were laid off or have left their Job for Personal reasons or for learning new things or for any other reason, that Gap is not an issue in their process. Infact after Gap I realized my energy was doubled in the next Job bcoz I learnt multiple new things , managed multiple things at Personal front.
Very nice video and it is encouraging for many candidates who lacks confidence. I too lacked confidence long time ago but I have overcome it and I am super confident and super focus on my skills and interviews. This video will definitely help those who undergo that stage, thank you for sharing this video.
I give you a very live example, I shared my resume with one consultant for Delhi Duly Free company for a Quality Manager profile. I got the initial call from the Delhi Duty-Free HR team after 15-20 minutes of discussion she said to me that my profile is ok and she will schedule 2nd round of interviews with her Sr. HR Manager. Even after a week, I didn't receive a call from HR then I took a follow-up with the consultant. She said my profile was not shortlisted, I told her as per the JD, I have relevant experience and certification namely ISO 9001, LEAN, Six Sigma, TQM, etc. I simply asked why that HR lie to you after 1st round of the interview even after considering my profile initially and telephonic interview. I have observed that most HR professionals are unable to measure a person's performance during interviews and not ever giving proper feedback and discussion.
Thank you ma'am, for motivating everyone, as I myself had a career gap of more than a year and have been applying for every job but not getting any reply from the company... I was getting lost but this video will definitely help me in getting my confidence back...

All stupid policies are with Service based companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, HCL etc. They look at everything beside skills. 90% of the tech employees(including senior techs) in these companies cannot even tell the configuration of their computer. Still they are hired.
Mam, I have a career gap of 4yrs. And planning to start back my career into It field. Uploaded resumes everywhere , getting calls as well but most importantly interviewer’s directly ask about notice period and current working company details in that case we have to mention about gap . And once we mention about gap , interviewer will disconnect the call by saying “ oh ok , in this case i am sorry I need to check with the team” and here itself I m losing my confidence.
I took interview for a bunch of ppl, shortlisted 3 ppl and gave to my manager for second round. My manager (old company) rejected the guy with career gap just by seeing the timelines of each job. I asked reason,…. Which he did not give satisfactory answer. I did not like his work ethics….. in a few months I moved out. I have seen many types of career gaps. A woman taking career gap for having kids is just normal, I don't think anyone thinks too much of it. But I have seen men take gaps to tour the world or something. Sometimes they say they were sick but there is no medical record of that; they just did not work because it was hard. You can only have confidence if you yourself know that you had a genuine cause.
But why men shouldn't go for Holidays, is it a sin if you are trying to have a lone time? they say they were sick because you won't accept the real fact that they went for a holiday for a year to explore, because people like you are the real culprits who think men shouldn't do stuff like that....
MNCs needs to relax career gap criteria like 2 yr allowed n all ..if you don't allow people will find other companies..so needs to relax year gap criteria . Thx for such criterias as helped to join mid size ,small scale resulted in 5-6x 📈 and now ready to retire early ..thx MNCs not allowing entry to potential candidates candidates only due to such criterias and 2008 recession which created career gap with eligible academics
Mam sorry but ultimately am i not lying to the interviewer, inspite of having 3 years of gap how can i hide it, because I'll have to mention in the resume my last working period.
I do have career gaps and I've given multiple interviews and got rejected multiple times but not even a single time I got rejected because of the career gaps.
I always thought is it really tough to get a job and after a very long time pretty much I realised that companies don't give a fuck about people who is having a year gap. I lost my 5 precious years and I'm still trying to get a job. I asked friends, close relatives and other people who are in contact, they all abandoned me. I came from an electronics engineering branch.but I have done a mern stack course but after done that course it couldn't land me a job after two years till now. I'm going through a very difficult phase of my life. In future I don't know what will happen to me so I keep on trying and if fate wants me to suffer then I suffer. There is nothing I can do anymore. I did what I had in me and I don't think I can live long because fate doesn't want me alive. Gap years or don't it doesn't matter to me anymore. Because people in this fucking world don't give a fuck about anyone else. Their first priority to save their job.and they promise that they will get you job but in reality don't give fuck about because they think about ourselves and try to be in connect with you to use you
I just want you to know, you are amazing. Thank you for all that you do! I do have a question. If one is coming back to workforce via a return to work program, is there a possibility of negotiation at all or does it depend on the employer?
I almost lost hope because of my Career gap, and was getting thought of killing myself. But thanks to you ma'am, you gave me hope. Btw I'm a full stack developer

I am currently working as a manual software tester and I need a career transition either to something and currently it's been 1 yr 6 months... During my training I learnt and practiced automation testing related skill and I need to reskill them as it has been so long. But that reskilling becomes hard for me as I work from home at 10Am to 10 Pm and on weekends I used to go or spend time for distance education.. so I choose to resign and during the notice period of reskilling them... But looking for a job after LWD is not correct, according to many people... Leading this I feel like I would get some career gap!! Are there any incidents or will it be possible if I can get a job after a few months, as I applied to post my LWD? And can this reason for the question "why is there a career gap?" Acceptable by the interviewers?
I learned through this video that you are a mother as well. So during that period of career gap for 2 years for maternity, were you doing some other kind of work ??

I have a career gap of close to 6 years after having worked for 2 years at TechM..The gap was primarily due to loss of 3 family members in short span of time..I'm trying to get back to my feet again by learning data analytics, Could I possibly fit in and find a prospective employer( It would help if I were to get an honest feedback from a HR pov).
since I am also in the same field I believe i am good fit to answer this question. for data analytics SQL is very important skill. try to build your SQL knowledge very well there are lots of open source to practice like Hacker Rank. if your basics is strong you can crack any interviews. since you have 2 + yrs experience still they will consider you as entry level. so practice well and attend the interview with confidence.

I need a little help from the experienced people out there. Pls do bear with me till the end 🙏😅 So I'm a fresher of 2022 batch passout in cse, and right now have two offers in hand, first one say company A, offer is in the field of react js which I wanted/interested in, but the payout for initial 6 months is a little less and also have 2 years of bond, whereas company B, also hiring for frontend role has a payout of around 10k more that the company A for the same 6 months, but here catch is they can change the domain any time they want to, say convert me to a c# or java developer according to their need, and also their full time conversion rate is 20-25% only. So basically most probably after 6 months they'll remove. So in a situation like this which offer letter should I pick, considering in mind that recession might hit in upcoming times, thus finding a job might be even tougher than now. Also, sticking to react js and later mern stack is a better option or shifting to c# (say) is better despite having no interest in it,(only that pay is good if get selected after 6 months in company B) Thanks for reading till now, and will be waiting for your valuable feedback.
I was into banking later I left that job to build my career in IT but that didn't work after 6 months I again went back to join banking sector how can I explain this to my interviewer,
Thank you so much for the detailed points. It really helps. I have a gap of six years and had undertaken three entrepreneurial ventures. Unfortunately, the most successful venture got shut down due to covid. Would you be able to suggest some additional points, for job seekers with more than 6 years gap. Would appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
Thanks for your great suggestion,am just preparing to mention my gap in my resume because if they found further that i've a gap in education, they might think that am not genuine to the company which am ready to work,so now am withdrew to mention my carrier gap as you said ! but i've a question when should i reveal the carrier gap to the Hr or not,if yes, when should i do ? plz suggest on this..thank you 🙂😊

No, it's a very old stupid concept with companies not only after Covid. It's there since 2000

Career gaps are accepted for women employee but not for men.
Yes because women have other major roles in their life as well. that's why most organisations encourage new mothers to join them.

We need to change stereotypeness in our day to day life.
After saw your video I am very confident thanks
MNCs needs to relax career gap criteria like 2 yr allowed n all ..if you don't allow people will find other companies..so needs to relax year gap criteria . Thx for such criterias as helped to join mid size ,small scale resulted in 5-6x 📈 and now ready to retire early ..thx MNCs not allowing entry to potential candidates candidates only due to such criterias and 2008 recession which created career gap with eligible academics
perfection! Thank you!
🤣🤣🤣 how do you know that?
U r very positive maam otherswise this world only demotivate us.
mam i have one year gap after my 10th class due to medical problem after that everything is perfect so I will be rejected as well
Thanks for sharing.... I was scared bcoz of my 1.3 yr gap
Their first priority to save their job.and they promise that they will get you job but in reality don't give fuck about because they think about ourselves and try to be in connect with you to use you
Bro how can i contact you? Please i need to ask you something very important
Thanks for this wonderful video.
Very sorry to say Maam such comments discourage people...your words are really inspiring
In Honesty, with 1 year career gap, the interviews are scheduled very rare. I think HR still considers career gap for not shortlisting the cadidates.
Faced this due to career gap after 2008 recession..but small scale, mid scale companies considered and keep srching you will get ..now I am rejecting MNCs as they can't provide the expected CTC now
Thank you so much Varsha , really awesome information , true inspiration for all the mothers and ladies especially who want to get back to Job :)

As a fresher due to not getting selected I created a career gap in my career
Were you able to get the job ?
how to start fresh, when your old profile and the industry is no more?
I have 8 years of career gap after btech in electrical engineering what should i do please help me

Mam before COVID. I joined coaching but after a month whole dehli was closed . So i was stuck next year again coaching started after 10 day second wave of COVID 19 strike again dehli was closed till nov .

I have a career gap of 9 yrs. As I switched to another career but like to switch back
My resume doesn't even shortlist due to the career gap
@@maham4062 Your support and kind words mean a lot. Thanks again for giving a heads up on the roadmap to a career in data analytics...I'm working on the relevant skill sets and hopefully will find someone who is willing to take a punt on me.....Much appreciated...
@@debashisparida9092 all the best.
@@maham4062 mam 4 yr carrer gap no experience non IT field want to enter into it field if I learn course can I enter into it field
@@bepositive9331 sorry I have no idea but still you can approach with your current employer. You can learn any course or higher education in the technical field. There are many good companies they really respect the employees aspiration. I saw many people moved from non IT to IT field with their employer.
Hi ma'am .. ur videos gives me so much confidence !! Thank u
Plz do make a lil detaild video on forming resumes with gap as dis most imp part.
Maam I am pursuing my professional exam CMA and in my 1st attempt i didn't able to clear it in June 2023 .. I will again appear for June 2024 attempt will it effect my career as career gap for not doing anything other than studies in 2023.
Not sure if i will get a reply for this comment... having a gap of 3 to 6 months .. ( just to take care of my self both mentally and physically) will this affect my further career?
I need a little help from the experienced people out there. Pls do bear with me till the end 🙏😅
So I'm a fresher of 2022 batch passout in cse, and right now have two offers in hand, first one say company A, offer is in the field of react js which I wanted/interested in, but the payout for initial 6 months is a little less and also have 2 years of bond, whereas company B, also hiring for frontend role has a payout of around 10k more that the company A for the same 6 months, but here catch is they can change the domain any time they want to, say convert me to a c# or java developer according to their need, and also their full time conversion rate is 20-25% only. So basically most probably after 6 months they'll remove.
So in a situation like this which offer letter should I pick, considering in mind that recession might hit in upcoming times, thus finding a job might be even tougher than now.
Also, sticking to react js and later mern stack is a better option or shifting to c# (say) is better despite having no interest in it,(only that pay is good if get selected after 6 months in company B)
Thanks for reading till now, and will be waiting for your valuable feedback.
I was into banking later I left that job to build my career in IT but that didn't work after 6 months I again went back to join banking sector how can I explain this to my interviewer,
HR people should look for a talented people instead of seeing their employment gap. Everyone have unique talent.
