Love the muddy water dunk shot scene! What a way to show water resistance! FYI, the feature that made me add the Action 5 to my Action 4 kit is the dual DJI Mic 2 linking interface.
It's funny how the out-of-the-box settings make this camera look like you're shooting with a budget android phone when it's capable of looking like a pocket DSLR, I feel DJI are doing themselves a disservice
100% agree with you! This camera is really capable, especially when shooting in D-Log M and lowering the texture and NR to -2. I love it. I hope DJI will release the bitrate update soon to make everything look even better. Cheers!
Thank you for the review! I'd say that the osmo a5p and the insta360 ace pro are the clear leaders in the action camera market. Between the two, I choose the osmo a5p because of the dji mic2 compatibility, and battery life. I am, however, waiting to see what the new Insta360 Ace pro2 will offer.
This may be the BEST review of this camera I’ve seen and I’ve watched a lot. The thing I’ve gleaned from all the better reviews is that this camera is phenomenal in good light and surprisingly good in low light IF the correct settings are applied. With -2 texture and -2 noise reduction this camera is incredible. And in low light, the four times shutter speed from frame rate with high ISO almost totally eliminates jitter. I learned this from @TravelingAhn who really has some impressive low light stuff with this camera with high iso and 4K30 / 1/120 shutter. Speaking of which are you using that combo at around 7:02 and 9:50 ? 1/120? Because it’s jitter free! I think the bit rate thing is pretty overblown, and I’m certain DJI will drop firmware updates soon. I am expecting delivery of this camera soon to join my pocket 3. I’m really excited and I think the combo of the pocket 3 and the action 5 pro is a seamless combo that is just awesome. Thank you for this amazing review. I wish more reviews had this level of depth and detail and also, specific settings to turn this camera into a powerhouse. Out of the box it looks bad, but with the right tweaks, it rocks.
Excellent review Roma !!! I also have action 4 and 5 now. I agree with the low light performance, but you can see more detail in action 4 in 100-200 iso..The problem in action shots with plenty of light is that if you use the auto settings ,the action 5 has a minimum range of 100-800 and the action 4 a minimum range of 100-200 . the action 5 will choose a sutter speed off 2000+ and pumb the iso to 800 all the time... I also find the DLOG M footage with a purple tint very hard to colorgrade compared with the action 4..

Roma, did you test how long the Action 4 shoots with the battery from Action 5? That would be an interesting metric. Action 5 runs 4 nm chip where Action 4 is 12 nm. Power consumption of Action 5 must be much much lower, so I do not expect using Action 5's 1950 mA/h battery in Action 4 will achieve near to the Action 5's max time shot. If you ever do such a test, please share the results
Thanks for sharing! I wasn’t aware of that, but I did a test in 4K25p on the Action 4, and I got 120 minutes of continuous recording with the old battery and 145 minutes with the new one. With the A5 Pro, I got 200 minutes using the same settings. So, while the new battery isn’t mind-blowing on the old Action 4, it still provides a nice ~20% improvement.
I'm finally moving away from gopro because I have had nothing but bugs from them. It's sort of a shame because I have had gopro since the hero 2....however, I'd dgi cameras work as good as their drones then I will be happy. I ordered my action 5 yesterday :)
can you make a video on this camera to achieve high quality in webcam mode with some settings generally there are very few or none of creators made video in this topic
What card did you use in Action 5 PRO? Sandisk Extreme PRO (how many GB)? I read that the camera has a problem with these cards? Have you noticed them?

Great video Roma. The main main reason I upgraded to the Action 5 Pro was the support for 2x DJI Mic2 and secondly, longer battery.

Returning my Action 5 pro today! That 50mbps 4K 24fps looks disgusting, disappointing, my hero 11 shoots way better on bright daylight

But auto-exposure especially in Normal Color mode looks very artificial and HDRish :(.

Sandisk Extreme Pro 128GB. No issues whatsoever..
Audio department I felt both 4 and 5 pro sounded the same.... Low light osmo 5 was outstanding
