Woah man, it is like your decade's bad luck allowance accumulated into one moment of doing the BMW rear subframe and swingarm/bush job. I did mine last year, all parts were stil original, it took me a weekend to do the job on jackstands. Two weeks ago, I replaced the subframe bushings using a home made puller, took me around 5 hours. This weekend I am doing the breaklines. Having done that, I am not surprised at the shop rates for that.

Haha, yeah I honestly didn't have a clue what was awaiting me and I tip my hat to you for managing this job on jackstands! Brakelines I did the year before and I wish I had waited until I took the subframe out of the car! But every day is a school day :D Thanks for commenting!

Hope your rear end rides considerably better after all that work. Btw, why does it seem like you were tightening the lower swing arm bolt rather than loosening it.

It rides like butter now! Totally transformed the car’s ride and now my m sport e46 feels like a flintstone cart 😂
Well spotted - the nut was already removed from the end of swing arm bolt. I was trying to get the bolt to rotate within the bushing sleeve, because it was completely stuck. The steel bolt had corroded with the aluminium sleeve - so I was trying both C/W and anti C/W to see if it would release. My cutting disc outlasted my patience 😂
