  • The restoration of the 1991 BMW E31 850i that spent 10 years in a garden continues. We are redoing the entire fuel system, reinstalling the rear subframe, clutch slave cylinder, shifter linkage, oil filter housing, DME & EML chips, the cooling system, etc... It's also time to crank over the mighty M70B54+ V12 engine for the first time!

He’s literally become a genius at building cars, especially BMW.
I worked for BMW of Devon Pennsylvania for 10 years in the parts department, I literally know hundreds of parts numbers, and understand German a littler better since working for BMW..
This is one of my favorite RUclips channels…
My friend Bruce who works there still today is a Master BMW tech, if you ever get into a bind call there and ask for Bruce Beyer.
He has two lifts in service and he gets most of the engine changes, because he literally can’t do them in less than his work shift.

Man, this is my idea of quality work. Really, really high standards, and just right. This e31 (which is also on my list of dream cars) and is going to be stellar! Only those with CRAP standards, will lable your work as "OCD" or "perfectionism"...
Sreten, there is a Spain workshop, by the name of "Alcala Technologies" that also have a RUclips Channel. It is a pity they are so far from you, as I think they might have the standards that you are going for, paintwise and so forth. Looking forward to your next episode. Greetings from S/Africa.

They are near the Porsche, Lambo and Bentley dealer and certified to work on them. But they are very nice and accomodatng to private customers too, I've had several jobs done there to absolute satisfaction (and paid in cash when I wanted to save a buck). I find your videos "therapeutic" - i find them an ideal way to relax after a hard days work....
You do exactly as i do when I'm doing work on my multiple vehicles that i own - "do it once do it right" ( so i nor you either, - ever have to go back in - besides Italian made shitzen - more especially Alfa Romeo & Maserati.....).
I can see that that you enjoy immensely doing things to the best of your ability - of which is seriously up there - actually it's at "the very top end" for a privater .... It's your inital money you're putting in afterall....
I love your sense of humour too! I have a "parallelism" there too! It's needed at times to "actually maintain" the sanity....
As at times, as we all know, items/jobs can try our patience ( err umm, turbo's on Maserati's springs to mind!!!!).
I like to have "supreme confidence" in my vehicles reliability in that - if a freind suddenly needed a car to travel a thousand km all of a sudden, i could hand them the key's with confidence....
Congrats on making this channel so liked & successful & in to a full time carrer!
Did you find a full time camera man/editor in the end??
I think it would be awesome to work with you!
Seasons greetings from New Zealand!! Has been 26-30° Celsius this past week way 👇 here!!

Your attention to detail and commitment to preserving such a masterpiece is inspiring. You're not just restoring a car; you're reviving a piece of automotive history!" BTW, I've repaired the E31 EML units before. May I suggest you replace the Fraco gold electrolytic capacitors with fresh automotive grade ones. They are notorious for dying, and what ends up happening is your throttles will not operate anymore.

I also really appreciate how you mention exactly where you are getting your parts from as to be helpful in case someone who is doing the same rebuild comes across your videos.
I worked as a Euro car technician for years and always thought that I should record the process, but I digress, it is extremely hard to do that job and to document it on video properly. You sir, are an absolute legend for not only being informative, but also recording all of it in great detail, thank you so much. Respectfully :)

    Your workmanship is excellent. 👍
Years ago I worked for pioneering company developing powder coating. It would be a very useful addition to your workshop to have a powder coating unit, small items which you normally can't justify coating could be sorted in 30 minutes. A small laboratory oven 200c temp plus a "home made" electrostatic gun using an automotive coil is about all you would need. You can buy bulk powder in a rainbow of colours - and re-use overspray. It might be worth considering?

I love watching Sreten bring back E31 V12 cars :-D This was the content that first caught my eye many moons ago. People in the US and Canada seemed to regard these cars as a lost cause, impossible to bring back but this man proves them wrong, time and time again. It makes me so happy and rekindles my enthusiasm for the channel, especially this car that will be BETTER than new!

Hey Sreten, I’m retired now and no longer wrench on my cars (Audi, Mercedes and VW) but like you I only used OEM only as I believe when a car is made that way it should stay that way. All my cars are now looked after a like minded mechanic and really understands where I’m coming from.
Good job Sreten and I always watch your videos more that once 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Amazing to see that you got a proper solution for the water pump in the end. And here I would like to point out something I think a lot of self-taught people don't consider (including me back in the day)... even with your hands you should avoid to spin water pumps dry if you don't have to. It can cause some premature wear.
