      @SterkeYerke5555 6 дней назад +3

      @@louisvl10 LOL that's probably why old crashed cars get imported from Germany here in the Netherlands. Here it's up to the buyer to "research" whether the car is any good or not. So getting a car cheaply in Germany because the seller has to be honest and then selling it to an oblivious buyer here = profit.

    • @HerrSchmitti
      @HerrSchmitti 5 дней назад

      @@SterkeYerke5555well what the guy above said is theoretically true but you have to prove the seller knew about it and that's basically impossible if he doesn't confess that he knew it.

      I know Sreten likes his original cars and it's a shame this particular one has been messed with but to LPG convert a big motorway machine is good thinking and shows that the owner was planning to keep it long term. Sreten, I have an e36 on LPG because in my country gasoline is very expensive, and LPG is half the price. It runs almost as good as on petrol but it was a pain to setup right.
    The LPG installers ruin the entire car with self tapping screws, holes and flexible rubber pipes. They never use hard pipes because they take too long too install. The worst part is what they do to the electrical wiring. The LPG needs to use a piggyback ECU that is connected to the diagnostics port, to the original engine ECU, to each separate fuel injector and also they need to run wires all the way to the trunk for the fuel level sensor and the gas cutoff valves. Each tank has 2 safety cuttoff valves and a manual shutoff screw. There is also another cutoff located on the vaporizer in the engine bay. This is what makes the system very safe, even safer than gasoline IMO. You can remove the gas tanks by yourself but first empty the tanks by simply driving the car, because full tanks are stupid heavy to lift. All you have to do is to first close the manual safety valve completely and the slowly unbolt the feed lines, do it outside so it vents to the atmosphere and don't smoke while you're at it.
    About the electrical installation, I advise you to get a new unmolested engine wiring from a donor car. Don't even try to fix the existing one because there will be so many welds from the LPG wiring that it's not even fixable. For example for the injectors you will need to repair 24 or 36 wires.. It's a big mess. It took me 2months to redo the wiring on mine and make it look almost stock..
    Another thing, I'm 99% sure that the previous owner had to replace the engine due to valve issues. The LPG runs hotter and doesn't lubricate the valves as gasoline does, and after some time valve edges start to chip away damaging cylinder walls and of course misfiring due to low compression on the affected cylinder. It's a very common issue on 4valve per cylinder engines. Older engines like the M10, M20, M40 don't have this issue because they have 2 valves per cylinder that are built stronger/harder and take the heat better. The only reason to do this to a car of this size is cost. It halves the fuel cost approximately, so you can drive around in a V12 boat but spend with L6 or L4 3 series fuel costs. Makes some sense, in my country there are many many Ferraris and Porsches on LPG

Even with just the m62 engine this thing is so smooth and powerful. Replaced the timing chain and guides myself, along with the pcv and some other stuff. Adjusted the oil pump chain. All the seals. New water pump. And you know what... The water cooled alternator went bad after. Wanted to test the cheapest option, for giggles. The $200usd one from Amazon... somehow works just fine? Sreten, great job finding and buying this beauty. Regarding LPG conversion, I haven't seen many cars using LPG in Germany, but there are a lot in Turkey-a lot means millions. I am one of them, and I have driven more than 600.000 km with LPG on my E34 525i, E39s 528i, 540i, and 535i. If you are in love with your car (especially with V8 and in this particular case, V12) and want to use it on your daily driving LPG is the only way, especially in Turkey where LPG price is almost half of the petrol price. In my case instead of a stupid 1.5 lt, 3-cylinder BMW, I am using my roaring V8 with a please and paying less. I am a fan of E31s and I have started to watch your channel with the 1st 850i restoration. The dream for me is to find a moderate 850i which is good enough to drive to Turkey and restore it from top to bottom and yes install LPG to use it daily. There isn't a company offering an LPG system to V12. Therefore, what I have been told was to install two "Prins" LPG systems to work together on BMW V12 since everything on V12 is twice of straight 6. That is why, there are 2 Prins 6 cylinder systems working together in your Alpina, and you have two LPG tanks at the back. Well, the condition of your Alpina looks Ok, definitely, a paint job is needed and, in the end, it will not be a collector's car. Therefore, How about keeping LPG on? You already have performance cars, M5, M3, 530i touring!!!! May be it would be a good journey to keep LPG, restore the other components, and use Alpina as a daily car. As I mentioned earlier, millions of cars have LPG systems in Turkey. My technician installed, four LPG systems to my BMWs E34 525i, E39 528i (I made 400.000 km with LPG with this car) E39 540, E39 535i. He has extensive knowledge of LPG systems and I am ready to provide any kind of information you might need with great pleasure with the help of my mechanic, all the best.

    You should not dismiss LPG right away. Did you know it has 120 octane? It makes it super smooth.
    It also runs super clean and produces no soot whatsoever. It runs as clean as a kitchen stove. Once you take the engine apart, you will see there is no carbon buildup at all, that’s why these engines run so far. That, and the huge gas tank, of course which allows for 1000 mile range, all combined.
    My E 39 has 428,000 km by now and still runs and hums like a sewing machine, It has been for more than 300,000 km on LPG.

      Propane is not as clean as you say. Metane or natural gas (the one that russia used to export to Germany by pipeline) - that gas is pretty neutral for the environment. But Propane is almost as bad as gasoline.

    • @JP212nyc
      @JP212nyc 6 дней назад

      @@RivieraByBuick Methane (CH₄) is generally more environmentally damaging than propane (C₃H₈) due to its higher global warming potential (GWP).
      Comparison of Environmental Impact
      1. Global Warming Potential (GWP):
      • Methane: Has a GWP of about 28-36 times that of CO₂ over 100 years.
      • Propane: Has a GWP of about 5 over the same period.
      • This means methane traps significantly more heat in the atmosphere than propane.
      2. Atmospheric Lifetime:
      • Methane lasts about 12 years in the atmosphere.
      • Propane breaks down much faster, typically within a few days to weeks.
      3. Leakage & Emissions:
      • Methane leaks (from natural gas extraction, pipelines, and agriculture) are a major issue because even small amounts have a huge warming effect.
      • Propane does not significantly contribute to greenhouse gas emissions unless burned. It is also less likely to leak in normal use.
      Which is Less Damaging?
      Propane is environmentally less harmful than methane because:
      • It has a much lower GWP.
      • It degrades faster in the atmosphere.
      • It does not contribute to emissions unless burned, whereas methane leaks are a serious climate issue.

As a BMW Master tech and owner of 2 F25 N55s, it would bring me great joy to see you working on/restoring one of my favorite BMWs and yes i mean that. The F25 is one of my favorites. My wife's 2011 has a mere 80k miles on it and my 2014 has 243k miles on it. Currently daily driving my wife's as mine is sitting on the lift next to me for its next round of mods and maintenance. Strongflex yellow poly rear subframe, differential and sway bar bushings. New rear wheel bearings and hubs. Rebuilt a rear differential with all new bearings and a shiny new Team MFactory Helical LSD, Revshift billet and poly flexdisk, e9x/e83 transfer case bushing swap with a Strongflex yellow poly bushing insert. Will be dropping the front subframe completely to clean and rust reform it, get rid of the front diff completely, swap out the xDrive oil sump for an S55 oil sump and doing ACL rod bearings as well. Will go back together with new Corteco motor mounts and Powerflex black series motor mount inserts and Strongflex yellow poly sway bar bushings and lower control arm bushings and will install a crank seal guard as well. This is all on top of the current mods it already has... Vargas stage 1 turbo, VRSF downpipe, VRSF charge pipe, ARM Motorsports intercooler, BMS intake, 3.5 bar map sensor, MHD tuned, xHP tuned, xDelete tuned, BC Racing coilovers, F15 50i front brake conversion, and Powerflex black series poly thrust arm bushings. I will eventually get a low mileage RWD ZF 8sp transmission to complete the RWD conversion, but thats another time, the current transmission still has life left in it. And i will eventually get a bigger turbo, whether thats going to be a plug n play from Shuenk, or its going to be a custom B58 turbo swap

    The E24 M635csi is a stunner. The E34 M5 as well. That dealer has some great inventory.
