  • This is the 2023 Toyota GR Corolla Core in all it's 6-speed manual glory! With the future of the brand looking more towards a clear electrified future, most notably looking at the "FT-Se" concept recently showcased at Japan's Mobility Show, what does this mean for the hardcore GR products that are still on sale today? Only time will tell. Enjoy!

    To clarify, if it was my second car i'd take the GR over the Type-S. Mostly because I'd feel better beating it up in the snow and ice over the winter. If it's one car only... I'd stick with the Type-S. What would you guys drive?!

    • @madmyro
      @madmyro 8 месяцев назад +3

      For me I’d take the GR in the Circuit Edition. I live in the south east so snow isn’t a thing down here😎. I love autocross and road racing so once there’s a solid solution for the rear differential overheating I’ll be set. Plus I’m on a bunch of waiting lists for Circuit Edition so I’m biased lol. Type S looks awesome though so either way it’s a good choice.

      Your wife or girlfriend will also like it and if you have little ones, if will fit them I all fine. While still looking pretty.

    Not to mention, here in Australia powertune pulled 700hp on a standard engine, on a Yaris, but same engine, so that 3 cylinder engine, is just amasing, and time will only tell, and hope you going to review soon a tuned corolla, like mildly tuned 500HP one, just to see you drive and smile😊

    Not just turbo but unelectrified or possibly even with any internal combustion engine at all. Toyota also made many naturally aspirated hot hatches with the craziest probably being the Blade Master, a Corolla with the 2GR 3.5L V6 (it had a 5-speed auto or something like that but an almost 300 hp V6 in a hatchback is pretty wild).

  • @TheGoldenDrive

    Great review as always bro. Such a cool car, and the engine is a marvel. it’s crazy with all the hybridization and ev-everything that’s going on with manufacturers today that they were able to make this. I would be curious to see if this engine finds its way into a future model of the Gr86

      After the RTV issue that's been plaguing the GR86, Toyota will quietly drop the subaru boxer for the 1.6l 3-pot GR engine

    Sad that it was limited production so it was first come first serve so not many will ever get to enjoy this car

    • @RoadsUntraveled
      @RoadsUntraveled  8 месяцев назад +1

      It's "limited" production but only in the micro sense. In the macro over the next few years (however long they keep building it), they'll be building as many as people want to buy. It's not a set number. Only the Circuit and Morizo editions are limited to a set number per year.
      What manufacturers love to do though is kind of squeeze the demand and not build any more than the people want.

    Wouldn’t the WRX make more sense as a competitor as opposed to the Integra type S?

    • @RoadsUntraveled
      @RoadsUntraveled  8 месяцев назад +5

      When looking at AWD, sure. The WRX is way down on power compared to the GR, Type-S, and Golf R. It's much closer in price and power to the GTI.
      Now if the STi still existed... that would be a different story.

More true to it's Ralley inheritance than the Corolla - Yes, backseat useless, but who want's to ad extra kilos to your car when having fun? (having 2 more farting humans than nessesary in the car?) 🤣🤣🤣🤣PS, 2024 Yaris model will get the 300HP now in the Corolla (not that it need it...)
