  • Track 2: Don't Keep Me Wonderin'. This is the closing night of The Fillmore East, a very special show that has flirted with an official release for over 30 years.
"The tape begins with Graham introducing the Allman Brothers Band as one of the best he's heard according to his untrained ears, and the band embark on a show that packs a lot into an eighty minute set. The opening numbers show some restraint and not until "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed" does the band get into an elongated jam session reaching over twelve minutes. The show ends with a twenty minute "Whipping Post" and a seventeen minute encore "You Don't Love Me"/ "Final Serenade" where Duane Allman quotes Handel's "Joy To The World". "

Man....there is SOME magic happening with that boys guitar. The bands all good......no doubt....especially considering their ages at the time.....but that Les Paul has met its match. I mean that both figuratively and literally. Duane....you were SO FAR out of the box dude. Where did that come from? I know where the bottleneck came from......but what about the POWER,INTENSITYand SPIRIT you laid down. You changed my life...gave me something to grab hold of when I needed it...Thank you for that...

Maybe the most under appreciated songs ever. "Classic Rock radio will play 'Slow Ride' all day, but when was the last time you heard this on radio?

Underrated band and songs...you hardly ever hear any of the songs on the radio...Even those that fit the short 4 minute format, don't make it on the radio...and, they are great songs with no disputable language or content. It is amazing that so many people knew and know about the Brothers notwithstanding...it is because they are so darned great that they have long and loyal fans...!

Truth, and spoken perfectly. His Slide playing on this tune was and is untouchable. Everytime I hear it ( And I'm talking 40+ years, His axe cuts my legs off, nobody better. Emotional from the Heart Screaming, and Tear Jerking Guitar.

I was there for the first show when there was a fire alert. After we all filtered outside and waited at the side of the building Duane and Berry Oakley walked by us. Unforgettable.

LOL! Hendrixclaptonsrv, the newspaper review and other sources reported that they were told to knock off the long Jams...I believe they were saved until the end because they worried that the Brothers would ignore them, which, as you pointed out, the 18-20 minute jam in E.Reed. Then, onto a couple of more numbers and finally a Dreams and Whipping post that brought the audience, quiet for awhile, to it's dancing feet when they stuck 20 minute jams into all...they could not help themselves. The NY Times gave them a stellar review! Every article on the closing of the Fillmore included the ABBs name...it was a welcome rebellion that is now historic and brings a smile to my face. Also what is interesting about that night, was the inclusion of "one way out." It was never recorded (if it was played) on that iconic night...so At Fillmore East has One Way Out from the closing night...the only song. Same with Eat a Peach. One way out is from the closing night. There is no recording that we know of, of that song from the night that all the songs on At Fillmore are from. ??? I don't know. I wasn't there that night. Were you? Thanks for all the great uploads.

The Live at Fillmore East album was first released as a double LP and contained performances selected from four concerts: two on March 12 1971and two on March 13 1971.
The producer Tom Dowd chose what he considered to be the best performances from the four shows. One Way Out was also performed during the second show of March 13.This performance is only available, as far as I know, in the 6cd box set The 1971 Fillmore East Recordings which includes all five concerts (the four March concerts and the final one on June 27).

If I'm not mistaken there are three shows through the course of Friday Saturday and Sunday maybe Johnny Winter was on the same bill and on Sunday Johnny said I'll open up let the brothers Rock on play some blues word !

I think you are thinking of the At Fillmore East album. The brothers were on a bill with Johnny Winter then. They played 3 shows, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

All the Fillmore East shows from March 1971 were released in a box set. Get it! This version was from June though, not March.

Look a bit farther and further, he did so...separately. He give his listeners everything they want...and isolated version of this song and the segue you refer to. It is here on youtube...same uploader. check it out.
You will be glad you did and I am not getting cross with you, I simply want you to hear it and know the uploader did it both ways.
