Just learned of Bart the Bear 2 passing away. My deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends and fans.
Amazing how gentle such a huge, powerful animal can be. Bears are strong, big, super-intelligent, and even fast. They are really well endowed.
Both Barts, that is. ^^
And yes - the wild bears deserve just as much love. And that means respecting them and their wildness.

Just like you can bite off your own thumb but your brain knows this and prevents you from doing so. What is your point? that the world is a big bad scary place so we should stay inside and hide from anything that could kill us? Is that what thousands of years of work was for? So you can sit inside and hide from all the scary things in the world because "it could go wrong". Grow a fucking pair.

It's important that things like this is shown to the world... I dont think you give animals like the bear, the amount of credit it deserves. There is so much more to these animals than we actually credit them for.
Aww I love Doug! He has his own language with Bart! Like how we all have certain things we say to our pets, his is "You are so good"! What a great team.
So sad Bart is no longer with us. He was amazing. The BEST animal actor ever.

james pisano this is not the original Bart the bear- to my understanding the original Kodiak named Bart died in 2000 and the Seus' adopted this bear and his sister Honey Bump-due to the bond he had with the previous bear-Doug also named this bear Bart

It’s amazing how important being praised, and thanked, is to these bears. It shows how emotional these animals really are. Why else would they care if other people were pleased with him or not. He likes to make people happy, he wants people to be happy with him. Just like humans.

On Little Bart's bio his weight is listed at 1,100lbs. Tank is around 800lbs and Honey Bump is 520lbs. This is an awesome bear. I get nervous around my female Yellow Lab when she gets rowdy; can't imagine doing what Doug does here with an animal this huge and powerful.

Doug and Lynn are extraordinary people. I wish more were like them. I got to know them in our church in Heber Utah and they are just as real as you see them on these videos..and have just as much passion for the animals as one could ever have. Bart enlightened alot of people...hopefully they will remember him, the love he had with Doug and Lynn and always always remember that he was so capable and did love them back. Denise

One of the coolest things I've ever seen
Loved watching Mr. Seus at the 70th Academy Awards, when Mike Myers took the nominees from a giant envelope held by (the late) Bart the Bear, Sr., a 1500 pound Alaskan Kodiak trained by Seus, Bart's "dad". When he got back to the podium, Myers said, matter-of-factly, "I've just soiled myself."

im from midwest .once i went out to the redwoods i encountered a mother black bear and her cubs at my cabin in mendocino in the mountains of shelter cove...the bears came around late august and raided my coolers n all the food. ever since i just love bears and appreciate the wonders of nature and animals so much more ....lets all respect our beautiful country and Mother Earth and learn to care more for her animals ❤️❤️❤️🌳🇱🇷

Even watching this in nightmare inducing. Imagine this bear went nuts for a few seconds. I know he was a gentle giant, but still, an animal this strong could break your spine while playing.

This is Bart 2 its coat is darker and smooth, also the head shape is different
Bart 1 was reddish with a more grizzeld fur
My volume was up watching this, the glances from across my room when all you hear is "OH, your good, GOOD boy" is quite awkward.
