Bart the bear's Legacy

- Bart is one of the most accomplished animal actors of all time, starring in many of films including: Dr. Dolittle, The bear, clan of the cave bear, The edge, and pretty much any other film in need of a good bear.
He was born in 1977 at a zoo and soon after adopted by Doug and Lynn Seus. They developed a huge bond with bart and gave him probably the best life any bear could have.
Bart died in 2000 due to cancer at the age of 23. He was over 9 feet tall and weighed 1780 pounds. It's amazing that doug wrestled and played with this bear on a daily bases for a span of many years without ever getting seriously injured. Doug understood how to interact with bart such as you ALWAYS keep bart happy. He also blew into his nose to keep calm him down if he ever got to excited. No matter how much love you know wild animal has for you, it is important to remember that they can hurt you even if they don't want to...

Must have been like losing a son to the man. Doug, thanks for giving Bart such a great life.
The best animal actor in movie history. He was amazing. RIP to the gentle giant.
Such a beautiful bond. We need more people like the Seusses in this world.
There are some videos on RUclips you simply can't understand how anybody could dislike it. Clearly 8 people thought otherwise about this touching video. Lets just come out and say it. They're wrong.
2:31 I started bawling.. how beautiful. Everyone should have this kind of respect for every animal - not just wild or potentially deadly animals, but even pets such as dogs and cats. They're not here for our amusement - they're living beings. But, as animals, they have different needs than us so cannot be treated like children! I think Mr and Mrs. Seus knew this, and so were able to fulfill Bart in all aspects of his life - which is why he was so happy, sane, and gentle with them. RIP Bart
This makes me cry. My sister loved Bart the Bear.
Oh, I loved that bear! May Bart rest in peace and may your work continue to save a place on this earth for these wonderful creatures! You have truly been blessed by God!
I love Bart the Bear. "The Bear" was one awesome film. It's also so cool to see the movie bears being trained to do tricks without anyone being cruel to them - it seems like they really enjoy what they're doing.
When i was a kid The Bears was one of my favorite movie :) . Bart was such a beautiful animals.
That is truly beautiful largest bear ever but so friendly and loving
I LOVE BART THE BEAR !

I was about 10 feet from Bart when they made the "Great Outdoors" with John Candy.....he was HUGE!
They are so damn cool! I hope the bears never turn on them because they really love them. Incredible.
I saw the amazing movie The Bear. What an unforgettable experience!!!
I've seen every movie he was in what extraordinary animal. More important the Sues family for what they did and are still doing.I watch this a lot and cry every time.RIP Bart.you will forever be remembered. thnx for the post
that animal could tear him apart, 4inch claws, 2 inch teeth, and yet the bear knows how fragile a human is and is careful to not hurt Doug, just amazing. The animal knows, makes you wonder just how smart are they, or how smart are we!!
Bart the Bear was truly exemplary, a one of a kind individual. I saw him in "The Edge" as a kid and I was stunned by his persona. Even though he's died, he will live on in at least my mind and heart forever. He was wonderful; there never will be another bear like him.
Aww, kind of heartbreaking, what a beautiful guy Bart.
What a beautiful Story!! Hella Big Boy. He's in peace watching u. 🕊️🤍🕊️
Doug Seus is the best most gentle caring trainer I have seen yet, he's the bear whisperer, your are amazing!
tenderness that this man when he talks about his first bear !!!

We loved seeing Bart in the movies he did...it was such a chance of a lifetime, thank you.
i cried watching this video. simply amazing
Amazing... Bart could of swiped anyone just one time and killed them. The Edge is one of my favorite movies of all time.
This is amazing!! What a beautiful bond ! Some people don't understand that wild animals can love and respect and that they only attack when feel threatened. I think more people should care about wild life like this couple our world would be so much better :)
Doug you are everyone's hero keep it up.
bart was like 11feet and over 1200pnds he wass biiiiig
Wow, the enrichment of pure unconditional love, we need more people like this, absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing this sad and happy video, light and love to them all...........xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Bart was really FANTASTIC in his movies!
Beautiful...so emotional
This couple is beautiful and because they are good people bear had never attacked.
I was watching The Edge and went looking to find out who the bear was. Bart the bear! And what a great story. Only once in a while do stories of almost impossible friendship come along like this. And it makes me speechless. Friends with a bear?! Awesomeness!
Wow, Bart was a GIANT.
Congratulations for been ,a select people for raising this beautiful bear,May God Bless you for everyting you have done in life for this animal .(From Brasil)
Bart was great in The Bear and all of his movies.. R.I.P Bart
Bart R.I.P., you were a very good actor, i've seen the movie "The Bear" and you were great in it. All good to Doug & Lynne Seus, because they were so lovely to Bart and the other Bears. I'm sorry about Barts death. All good for you.
Bart should have a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. He was an amazing actor.
remember when i saw bart the first time.. never before or after have i seen a grizzly that big!
The Bear is the one movie i remember him from
i miss him so much and i LOVE him
I’d cry too if I were that close to such a loved pet . 👍
I admire the Sues' so much. They are such loving and caring people!Instead of retiring they devoted themselves to the bears. You can see the bond between man and bear, each loving the other more then anything else. I usually feel bad for animals born and raised in captivaty but without that bear Doug would be incomplete, without Doug Bart would be incomplete. If more people cared for our Earth and the creatures on it, like the Sues'care we wouldnt have any of the problems we face today.
Bart the bear was the bear in the movie....The Great outdoors! :D "the bald headed killer bear!" lol
This is awesome! I wish I had a family member that was a bear. I was just watching these two cubs now Huge Bears on tv. These Cubs are now 1400lbs, Check them out on Man vs Bear. Really Cool!!
that cute couple that's there, beautiful human beings. congrats

bart is awesome
7:39 Awww :D, bear glomp, how powerfully cute.
It tears at your heart Iknow it tears at myn
This video has moved me in a way that is beyond words. God bless Bart and Doug. Keep up the great work
I seen Bart at the Toronto Sportsmans show back in the 80's? His immense bulk was ominous as he exited the travel trail he was in. And he was still growing!
I got to see Bart during filming of that,......very cool!
Beautiful story, wonderful people.
Aww, nice vid! Bart, you were awesome!
If only each one of us can experience such magical relationship with a wild animal, the entire human race could co-exist peacefully with animals, and there would be no endangered species.
RIP Bart.
oh this made me cry and laugh....that loss must have been felt deeply, but im glad that your continuing your work....the statement you made of" without the wildlife its just scenery " hit me .....good luck in all you do
So precious. That bear is better behaved than my dog! haha. The end was so cute. I want a bear!
wow! What a beautiful bear! RIP Bart.
Doug is truly an amazing man...with his training Bart, in the movie the edge the water scene, when Bart slaps the water with his paw, the bears do that in real life(saw it on animal planet "killer grizzlies" female chases a male from her cubs to waters edge, brief fight, then she slaps the water with her paw, what does that mean? its just so amazing how Bart has been trained in those movies to act as though he is in his natural habitat, and to do those things as the bears do in the wild..love it
that's just teardripping and beautiful !
r.i.p Bart
"he's my soul mate"... lol he was sitting next to his wife
I wish I had a bear as a pet or a family!
That scene in the movie "The Bear" was truly the definition of AWESOME. When I saw that scene for the first time, I literally froze. Very terrifying.
Bart and Lynn are extraordinary people. Lovely good people. Wish there were 4 Billion in the world more like them.
Thrilling, Nice story with a Happy ending, Extremely rare...Only one of it's kind, Wild animal that too A Bear! Totally agree with the best described details "No matter how much love you know wild animal has for you, it is important to remember that they can hurt you even if they don't want to..."
Thank you!!
WOW!! It's amazing to me that Human Beings are able to train/work/live with wild animals. I had this same thought while I was watching humans swimming with Killer Whales at Sea World.
So touching... I love bart
Bart was a real monster, what a phenomenal beast, power and gentleness at its most extreme !
how amazing would it be to have a bear that big to be your pet?????!!!!!
The difference with so many other trainers we see is, that,it is almost logical that doug is stil alive
if you look good he has so mutch passion pacience respect and love for the animal
and that,s what i,m missing by so many others,he does everything right in my opnion
R.I.P Bart!
What a massive creature.
Amazing and beautiful thing. That being said that man is lucky to be alive.
I'm sure Bart also did Clan of the Cavebear, I loved Bart, I thought he was the best big fat bastard bear on this planet. You ROCK BART !
