    a good way to remember is that 1 fluid ounce = 30 ml- it's really a little under 30 ml- round it up to 30 ml to make the math easier
    a cup is 8 ounces- and a half cup is 4 ounces-
    you need 4 ounces of water for this recipe
    4 ounces (amount you need) x 30 ml (ml per ounce) = 120 ml

    This is identically the same recipe I have used for the last 10+ yrs. I have changed it up twice in that time by adding finely chopped dates for a little more sweetness, and coating the bars with unsweetened dark bakers chocolate. I have also only ever used vanilla protein powder, but after watching this, I may give chocolate protein powder a try. The chocolate coating which is sugar free and pure cocoa adds some real nice flavoring without adding any of the bad stuff that you see in commercial protein bars. Last year, I have posted this recipe in a cookbook to share as it is the best protein bar recipe out there. Try it, experiment with it by adding different types of dried fruit, and you will love it!

    Great video! Instead of .5 Cup of water I used half a can of Goya Cream of Coconut. The thin 15 ounce can that is sweetened, so i use about 7.5 ounce, then drizzle in additional water if needed for desired consistency. I also added raisins for added chewyness. Awesome taste with chocolate flavored protein powder! The coconut must mix well with the protein power because I don't feel hungry at all for hours after eating this.

    I have followed this recipe in the past and got floppy and soggy bars as a result. I tried it again just now and got good results. I also baked it for 20 minutes at 250, to remove some excess moisture which I thought would contribute to sogginess.

    • @MattMcConaha
      @MattMcConaha 8 лет назад

      I think it worked pretty well, and yes it was in fahrenheit. But it's worth noting that if you leave them uncovered in the refrigerator, they will start to dry out on their own in a less controllable manner. So after drying them in the oven I put them in plastic baggies to keep them at the moisture level I liked.

    Gonna try these! I am a dedicated, committed rugby player who's going to the gym too, so nutrition is a big deal for me. Skipping processed food as much as possible is one of the things I try to follow, so I'm very happy that I'm about to switch the processed protein bars which I buy online, with real ingrediënts :). Thanx in advance!

    I've added honey, almond slivers and coconut shavings to mine. So good!

    i cut the recipe in half and made two batches, one just like this recipe and another with a tbsp of coarse ground coffee beans for an extra kick in the morning, before a workout, etc, W/E. but i wouldn't use regular mass produced coffee grounds (folgers, maxwell etc) or instant coffee. also i put half of the oats through a food processor just to cut back on the chunk factor in the final product. you can do it with half or all if your like me and don't like chewing on raw oats like a horse. i really hope some of you realize you can tailor make this to you and your eating habits and goals!

    Absolutely awesome ten minutes all together 5 to round up ingredients and utensils. 5 minutes to mix the ingredients. Incredibly simple but extremely tasty. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Nice man I'll have to try that. Sometimes you want to eat something solid rather than a liquid even though it does the same thing. Just more fulfilling this easy.

    Can use flavoured milk too, that works really well, especially if you match it to your protein!
